Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness.The main thing that we're going to use our wiring for is to provide our trailer with the necessary lighting functions, not only to remain safe, but legal. We're going to get our tail lights, our brake lights and our turn signals. And something else too not a lot of people think about is that this can be used with accessories that actually light up. So cargo carriers, little steps, things of that nature. The majority of them share the same type of connector, so you're going to be able to power those up with this as well.It is going to come included with a really nice thick, rubber dust cap because the wiring is designed to be mounted outside here. more

Speaker 1: Today this 2018 Ford Explorer, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness with a four-pole flat trailer connector. Part Number 118540.Here's what our wiring looks like installed. The reason you're going to want a four-pole wiring harness like this is that this will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer. By having the necessary lighting functions that are required by law. We'll get our taillights, our running lights, our turn signals, and our brake lights with this wiring harness.Now, each one of our circuits has a total power output of seven and a half amps. Which is more than sufficient to tow a small trailer, with three or four incandescent light bulbs per side for our taillights, or our brake lights, or as many LED lights as we want, because LED lights do draw significantly less power than incandescent lights.We have this nice built-in dust cover here, which will help protect it from the elements. more

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best wiring options for your 2018 Ford Explorer. Here we're gonna have the Curt. It's gonna be part number C56172, and over here we're gonna have the Tekonsha, and that's gonna be part number 118540. So here's what our wiring's gonna look like when it's installed, and here we have the Tekonsha. Both of our clips are gonna stay on the outside of our vehicle, and they're gonna connect to a factory plug just right up underneath our exhaust on the passenger side. So our T-connector is just gonna connect in between our factory harness here.Now both of our harnesses are gonna look very similar. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're gonna be taking a look at, I'm gonna be showing you how to install the Hopkins seven and four pole trailer connector, part number HM40975. This is what our plug looks like when it's installed. It's gonna provide you with a seven-pole connection and also a four-pole connection. Now your four-pole side is gonna provide you with your ground, both turn signals, and your running lights, along with your brake lights. Your seven-pole is gonna provide all that along with reverse signal and also, if your trailer has brakes, it's gonna provide you with that connection also.Both caps are gonna be spring-loaded. They are gonna have a rubber insert that's gonna seal around this edge. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to show you how to install, the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Packages with Seven-Way Trailer Connector, part number 118272.This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. It's going to provide you with all the necessary function you need for your trailer, both turn signals, your running lights, your brake lights, reverse light signal and also a signal for your brakes if you have trailer brakes. It's going to have a nice, durable, plastic cover, spring loaded cap. The cap's going to have a rubber seal in it. It's going to seal around here, it's going to keep any moisture or anything like that from getting on your connections.Your wire is going to come equipped with some wire loom to help protect it. The seven-pole plug will fit in a variety of different seven-pole holders or brackets. more
