Best 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Trailer Wiring Options

Speaker 1: Toady on our 2005 Chrysler Pacifica we'll be having a look at our best trailer wiring options. To my right we have the Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness, part number C55530 and to my left we have the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring harness, part number 118303. Now today we're focusing on wiring harnesses for vehicles that are not equipped with a factory seven way connector. If your vehicle does have a factory seven way and you need to purchase a replacement for it because it stopped working for some reason we have multiple different options available for you on our website. Now the first biggest difference that we found is in regards to power output. On our Curt wiring harness here on our turn signal and brake light circuits we have a total power output of three amps per side on the vehicle which is a sufficient amount of power to tow a trailer with LED lights, it's not an issue at all, and if we have two or three incandescent light bulbs for our turn signals and our brake lights that's not an issue there, we'll be able to power those just fine. Now for our taillight and running light circuit we have a total power output of six amps, we could basically have as many LEDs as we want in our trailer with six amps of power and we'll be able to run several incandescent lights without an issue. Now on our Tekonsha wiring harness here we have 2.1 amps of power output for our turn signals and brake light circuits per side so it's a little bit less here. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Today on this 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, we're going to be installing wiring harness part 118303. Wer'e going to first go ahead and locate the ports that were going to be plugging our wiring harness into. Now these ports are located directly behind the tail lights on both sides of the vehicle, so we're going to go ahead and remove each one of the tail lights. To do that you can see we have opened up our cargo door here to access the fasteners here on the inboard side, just go ahead and remove those and we can pop the tail light right off. If you turn the tail light over here, right here at the bottom is the connector we're going to be using, you want to go ahead and separate the two pieces first. To do that we want to go ahead and slide the red locking tab over first and then go ahead and press the release button here at the top and pull the two pieces apart. We can set the tail light off to the side for the time being and go ahead and do that for the passenger side as well. We are going to continue over here on the drivers side, and pull the grommet away from the vehicle. This wiring harness is actually a powered unit and when we pull the grommet away we actually have an existing power wire that were going to use. If you follow the tape forward here you can see there is a red wire here that is taped off and if you cut that back, there is a connector on there and we're going to go ahead and use that. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation- 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Today on this 2005 Chrysler Pacifica we are going to install Tow Ready T-One connector part number 118303. First, we are going to open the tailgate so we can access the mounting bolts for the drivers side tail light lens. We are going to remove these two mounting bolts here. Now that we have the two mounting screws removed we are going to remove the tail light assembly. Be careful not to break the alignment tabs that are still connected. As you can see here, it gives us access to the rear tail light wiring. Now that we have the lens assembly away from the vehicle, we need to locate this red wire connector which will be attached to the manufacturers wiring harness. We are going to pull it up and out of the vehicle and connect our new Tow Ready T-One harness to it. Then, we will slide the locking tab into place. 1:02 more
