Best 2012 Chevrolet Express Van Trailer Wiring Options

Today in a 2012 Chevrolet Express, we'll look at our best trailer wiring options. Okay we have two wiring options here today for the Chevrolet Express Van. Now both of these options are for vehicles that don't have the factory tow package installed. Off to the right, we have the Curt T-connector, part number 55540 and over here to the left, we have the Hopkins Plug and Tow, part number 31345. Now both of our wiring harnesses will attach in the same manner. They both will go into the factory tail light connector's end line, no cutting, no splicing required. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Express Van

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Express Van we're going to take a look at and show you how to install the Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Vehicle Wiring Harness, this is part number 31345. Here's what your wiring kit's going to look like once you get it out of the box. The main heart of it's going to be our box here in the middle. What this is going to do is it's going to take the factory signal from the vehicle and it's going to transmit it or change it into a readable signal that our trailer will be able to pick-up. We're going to have our four-pole plug here so this is going to take care of our running lights, left turn signal, right turn signal and brakes. The white wire, we're going to ground off to the body or frame of the vehicle, that's going to complete our circuit. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Express Van 18252

Today on our 2012 Chevy Express Van we'll be installing 4-pole Hardwire Kit part number 18252. To begin our install we'll first need to locate the manufacturer's wiring. This will be behind the interior trim panels on both sides. To remove the trim panels we're going to use a flat blade screwdriver or interior trim panel tool to release the fascias underneath. Starting here on the driver side we'll go ahead and remove the upper trim panel. Then we'll move over to the passenger side where we can remove the lower trim panel and then the upper trim panel. Now that we've exposed the wiring behind the taillight, we'll go ahead and remove the black electrical tape or covering around the manufacturer's wire. This will allow us to gain access directly to the wires where we can use a test light and probe them to test for our running, turn signal and brake light circuits. more
