Rob: Hey everybody. It's Rob here at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at the Roadmaster Direct Connect base plate kit on our 2013 Ram 1500. Now our base plate is going to be the connection point that we can hook up our tow bar so we can safely flat tow our Ram down the road. Now it's a really nice thing about flat towing a vehicle, because let's face it once you get to the campground, we park our motorhome and we get ready to enjoy ourselves. Well then somebody forgot something, got to run up to the gas station, or maybe you just want to go out to eat with your family. more

Best 2013 Ram 1500 Base Plate Options- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best base plate options for your 2013 Ram 1500. If you're looking to flat tow your Ram, you're going to need a secure connection point on the front of your Ram to hook up to the back of your motor home. We're going to have a few different options when it comes to the base plates.Right here we're going to have the Blue Ox base plate with removable arms. Then here in the middle we're going to have the Roadmaster crossbar style, also known as the EZ4 base plate with removable arms. Then here on the end we're going to have the Roadmaster Direct-Connect, also known as the EZ5 base plate with removable arms.Now what I mean by removable arms is once our base plate is installed, we'll be able to pull out on this ring here, rotate it, and then the arm can be removed for an inconspicuous look on the front of our truck. Now each one of these kits here, this is only one side that's going to be going on our truck. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 1500- Video
Today on our 2013 Ram 1500 we'll be installing the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1986. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and remove the lower air dam. The lower air dam is secured with two bolts and multiple push pin fasteners. We're going to remove the two bolts, which are on each corner. Here we have the push pin fasteners. There are going to be a total of 13 of them going across the lower portion of the bumper. To remove them, we're just going to take a flat-bladed screwdriver and pry out on the center of the push pin fastener. more
