Hi, John with etrailer. If you flat tow a lot and you want to add a second vehicle to your arsenal, then one of the ways that you can do it is by getting a crossbar style base plate. So today we've installed and we're gonna be taking a look at Roadmaster's crossbar style base plate kit and it's on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now if you're new to flat towing, and you want to get into it, there are actually five main components that you need. First, of course being the base plate, what we'll be looking at today. Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the etrailer base plate on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now, your base plate is gonna be one of five main components required for flat towing your vehicle. And the baseplate creates a structural support that mounts to the frame of the vehicle, allowing you to hook up to your tow bar. And your tow bar is the connection point between the towed vehicle and the RV. Now, there's also gonna be your safety cables which are gonna attach to that base plate, and they're integrated into it, and that's also going to attach to the hitch on the RV. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best base plate options for your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. A base plate is going to be what you're going to connect your tow bar to so we can safely and securely flat tow our Jeep Grand Cherokee down the road. We're going to have a few different options. On the end here we're going to have our Roadmaster EZ5 or Direct-Connect base plate. In the middle here we'll have the Blue Ox, which is going to have removable arms. Then on the end we'll have our Demco, which is going to be the tabless base plate.Now if it we're me looking for a base plate, I would go with the Demco version for a few different reasons, but let's take a closer look at what all of these have to offer. more

This is what your base plate looks like when it's installed. You can see it's nice and tucked in inside the bumper here. It's not going to stick out too far. It has a nice powder coated finish to help protect from any rust or corrosion. more

Roadmaster EZ Base PLate Kit Installation - 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to review and install the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, part number 521440-1B. Here's what our base plate is going to look like once it's installed. The base plate itself is steel constructed, fully welded and has a nice black powder coated finish so it blends in nicely with our vehicle. When we're ready to use our new tow bar we can simply take the quick link cable, feed it through the quick link and tighten it down. We'll bring in our removable arm, slide the notched end into the tube, it'll line up, rotate, and lock in place. Note that the angle here on the removable arm will face the inside. That will help keep track of the driver and passenger side removable arms. more
