Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today, we're taking a look and installing the etrailer Base Plate on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now, there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle. And starting on the vehicle side, it's gonna be your base plate. And base plate is going to attach to the structural frame or at least bumper support of a vehicle, creating a solid mounting point. It's also gonna create other mounting points for your other components, including your tow bar. more

That way we can try to answer any questions those of you might have and that's exactly what we're doing today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms. So this is the way our base plate is going to look whenever we're not hooked up to our motor home and we're just cruising our Jeep around town. And honestly, I think it looks really good. The base plate comes out through these factory pockets here. So these factory openings pop out and that's where our base plate comes through, and so they're going to be kind of tucked back a little bit, not very visible, but still easy to get to.And with this one, you're really not going to have to trim a whole lot. more

Best 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Base Plate Options- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best base plate options for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. A base plate is going to be what you're going to connect your tow bar to so we can safely and securely flat tow our Jeep Grand Cherokee down the road. We're going to have a few different options. On the end here we're going to have our Roadmaster EZ5 or Direct-Connect base plate. In the middle here we'll have the Blue Ox, which is going to have removable arms. Then on the end we'll have our Demco, which is going to be the tabless base plate.Now if it we're me looking for a base plate, I would go with the Demco version for a few different reasons, but let's take a closer look at what all of these have to offer. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster EZ5 Baseplate Kit with Removable Arms, part number RM-521440-5. Here's what your baseplate looks like installed. What many of our customers really like about this baseplate is when they're not towing their vehicle and they have the removable arms removed from the baseplate, it provides a very clean look on the front of their Grand Cherokee. Hardly anything sticks out from it at all. Our safety cable attachment point here doesn't even stick out past our license plate bracket on the front of it so it doesn't add any length to the vehicle.The baseplate itself is very versatile.
