But before we do that why don't we check this out and kinda talk about why it's a good idea to use a kit like this. When it comes to a battery charge line kit it's one of those things that aren't absolutely necessary, but definitely something that you want to have. And, you know, I say that because what happens, whenever you're flat towing your Colorado you're gonna have a supplemental breaking system, right Something that's gonna apply the brakes in your truck whenever you hit the brakes in your motor home. And what'll happen is, the majority of the time those systems are, they get power from your Colorado's battery. more

Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Chevrolet Colorado we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster seven wire to six wire flexo coil kit, part number RM-146-7. We have our cable router along our tow bar here. As you can see the coiledness of it is going to keep it nice and taut. We won't have to worry about it dragging the ground, but it is extendable up to past eight feet, so we're going to have plenty of room to make our connections.So we'll dust cover off of the back, and we're going to slide the wires through it. Let's go ahead and push it back so we have plenty of room to work with. Now, if we look at the back our plug here, each one of these terminals is going to be labeled. more

Now, the reason you're going to want this on the Colorado when you're flat towing this behind your motor home, Chevrolet does require the battery to be disconnected. This will save you time and energy from having to open the hood and manually remove your battery terminal. This will do it automatically via a solenoid built into this disconnect via a simple press of a switch inside the vehicle. We'll show you that now.With our battery connected, our engine starts normally. When we disconnect it, we have no power at all anymore and our vehicle is now safely in tow mode without us doing anything under the hood. more

When the key's in the on position, all of your accessories are on. There's no way to shut them off inside the vehicle, which in turn could drain your battery. The battery disconnect is going to break that power between the battery and all your accessories shutting your accessories off, in turn saving your battery life.Now, the way this works is this button right here, when we push it you're going to hear a click and it's going to shut off all of your interior. When you want it to come back on or when you're doing towing it, push the button. Wait just a couple of seconds for the computer to reset. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2017 Chevrolet Colorado we will be having a look at and showing how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-156-25.Here's what our battery charge line kit looks like installed. This charge line kit is great for those of you who flat-tow your Colorado behind your motor home, because, when you're flat towing it, the engine's not running and the battery has to be disconnected. If you have a supplemental braking system, your battery will be run down by the braking system in use.With this charge line kit installed, your vehicle's battery will get a charge off of the 12-volt power from the motor home's seven-way connector. It charges right through your coil connection that you have at the front of your Colorado, either a six-way round or another style of connector that you may have.To begin our install we'll find ourselves at the front of our Colorado. We already have a pre-installed six-way round connector at the front of our vehicle. We'll need to remove this. more

This is all done from inside the cab of your vehicle, which makes it a very simple process.As you can see here, our battery's connected because our dome light's on in the vehicle. When I press the button, we'll hear the click, and then we lose power. You can tell by the dome light going off. more

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at, and installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicles With a Supplemented Braking System, part number RM-766. Here's what it looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. It's going to be this nice, easy to operate switch that's inside the cap of the vehicle. What this kit is going to do is, for vehicles that need to have the battery disconnected when in tow mode, this is going to make it really easy to do that because it's going to be as easy as a flip of a switch. What's nice about this battery disconnect over some of the more traditional ones is that this one doesn't require you popping the hood and going underneath the hood to disconnect the battery with the quick disconnect, but rather, it's as simple as hitting that switch, and you're disconnected. Then, when you're ready to take it out of tow mode, it's a simple as flipping the switch the other direction, and then your battery's reconnected. Here's the solenoid for the quick disconnect. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Today on our 2005 Chevy Colorado, we'll be installing the Takonsha Primus IQ trailer brake controller, part number TK90160. With this brake controller, we will be using the universal 7-pin wiring kit, part number ETBC7. We'll start at the rear of the vehicle. On this particular vehicle, there was already a 4-way trailer connector installed. We will begin by finding a location to mount he 7-way and 4-way trailer connector. On this particular, we we're able to mount the bracket just under the bumper edge. To mount the 7- and 4-way trailer connector bracket to the bumper, we used 2 self-tapping screws. To make things easier, we will go ahead and make some of our wire connections on the table before we install the 7- and 4-way trailer connector up on the vehicle. more

Yakima Roof Rack Fairing Review - 2012 Chevrolet Colorado- Video
Today on this 2012 Chevrolet Colorado we are going to test fitting the Yakima Roof Rack Fairing part number y07048. We already have our fairing assembled according to the directions and now we are ready to mount it up on top of our roof rack. To mount the fairing on the roof rack we are going to fit the clips around our round crossbar. Next, well make sure that we center the fairing from left to right and make sure that its even. Once weve done that we can insert our carriage bolts and wing nuts through the outer most clips. Well turn the wing nuts to tighten down the fairing. more
