Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Jeep Wrangler HR4000- Video
Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination four-bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Now this is gonna be a platform-style bike rack, holding the bike by our frame, using this cradle with a strap around it, and then two additional wheel straps down to the bottom that pull the bike down and in. That method of holding the bike actually helps get a really solid hold on the rack, which is great. This is one of my favorite bike racks to recommend for people getting into biking and looking for their first bike rack, especially if they need something for their family, because this does accommodate kids' bikes exceptionally well. It works with alternative frames very well, too, because this cradle slides up and down the mast independently from each other and rotates 360 degrees to accommodate for those alternative frames. more

Now this is gonna be a platform style bike rack and in my opinion, one of the best entry level options into the world of platform style bike racks that we offer. Great, because it's a good entry level price point, it's gonna be affordable for a lot of people but also it packs a lot of value. I think of the ones in its category it's going to be probably one of the easiest to use and very accommodating because it works great with alternative frame bikes and kids bikes and it has a 35 pound weight capacity. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Honda Odyssey- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Honda Odyssey. This is gonna be a platform-style bike rack capable of carrying up to two bikes, it's gonna hold the bikes by the front tire using this wheel hook. You can see that the wheel hook is on either side and alternating directions, and because it holds the bike by the tire and not the frame, it's gonna be a great option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. With a 60 pound weight capacity, excuse me, per bike, it's gonna be able to handle some e-bikes too. And not to mention, out of the box, this is ready to work with fat tire bikes and kids' bikes as well, so really, a wide range, really anything you could imagine. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, I have the Yakima StageTwo 2-Bike Platform Rack, which we'll take a look at on a 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the StageTwo has pretty impressive weight capacity of 70 pounds per bike, it has a lot of clearance for two bikes, so whether they're the same size or different, you know it's gonna fit. Plus, this is pretty sturdy. The downside to it is it is going to be pretty heavy, and on the Wagoneer, with it being so tall, that's also a lot of height you're gonna have to lift your 70 pound bike. So we'll talk about that, we'll take some measurements focusing on this car, but the first thing we'll do is we're going to tilt this away. So there's gonna be a handle at the end that you're gonna have to pull, and then you're gonna have to let that heavy weight of the bikes come down at you, so don't get hit. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Saris Freedom Two Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the Freedom is going to be a steady bike rack, it's not gonna tilt away or anything like that, but it does have a lot of adjustability for different bikes of different shapes and sizes. It also has a weight capacity of 60 pounds per bike, which is pretty impressive for a lightweight bike rack like this. It definitely does have its downsides though. For example, with the Wagoneer, not being able to tilt away also means you can't open up the hatch unless you take the bike off. On the flip side, a lot of bike racks don't tilt the way far enough to open up the hatch anyways. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Jeep Wagoneer- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today I have the Swagman XC2 Two Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the XC2 is pretty popular because of how affordable an entry level it is, where you still get the stability of a platform rack without having to spend too much. So if you are looking for a bike rack where you don't have to pay extra for those bells and whistles that you may not need, this is the one that you would start with. But with this bike rack, of course, it also has its downsides, like you don't get those premium features like tilting away or included locks. And if you need one to secure your bikes and or your rack, those are things you'd have to purchase separately. Now talking about the Wagoneer though, with how it works with this vehicle, it actually creates a nice stable platform for your bikes to get them from point A to point B without too much extra work. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the RockyMounts GuideRail Two-Bike Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the GuideRail is usually one of my preferred bike racks because it's a dual wheel mount style bike rack which you can check out the comparison of that here at etrailer, and that makes it quicker and easier to carry around bikes, mount them and dismount them. Now, with how it fits on the Wagoneer, there's some perks and some downsides to it too. Perks are you do have a premium qualities you'd expect from a premium rack, like a heavy weight capacity. Downside is that it sits really high up on the Wagoneer. But, on another hand, you also have the features like it tilts away and it actually clears the Wagoneer's big hatch. more

Hi everyone. Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima On-Ramp, hitch-bounded bike rack, and seeing how it fits in the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. The On-Ramp is a platform style bike rack and this one holds the bike in trays. You can slide the bikes back and forth anywhere along these trays so long as the wheel straps reach the wheels and our frame clamp here can wrap around the frame. It's gonna be really more of a cradle with a strap around it than a clamp. more

Hi, everyone. Aiden here at the etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro Hanging-Style Bike Rack, and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Honda CR-V. With this being a Hanging-Style Bike Rack, that does present some limitations. This isn't gonna be the best fit for carbon frame bikes because hanging by the frame here isn't good for those more fragile frames. This one holds it in these cradles with two straps over the top, and one around the side to limit our side-to-side movement, acting as an anti-sway cradle. more

Swagman Skaha 2 Electric Bikes Rack Review - 2023 Honda CR-V- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman Skaha 2-Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on our 2023 Honda CR-V. The Skaha is a platform-style bike rack, holding up to two bikes in these wheel cradles and holding them primarily by our front tire using the wheel hook. Because it uses the wheel hook, we don't have any sort of frame contact here, making this a good option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, it can handle some e-bikes too. At the bottom of the bike rack towards the front end here, there's gonna be a green lever. This is what we can use to tilt the rack down, releasing the mechanism there, and lowering the rack down. more

This platform-style rack holds the bike in two sets of wheel cradles that are adjustable on these arms, front to back, allowing us to fit a variety of different wheel bases. Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Rocky Mounts MonoRail hitch mounted rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. Now the Monorail is going to be a platform style bike rack. Platform means that it's going to sit on top of this tray in these wheel cradles and this one is going to be a really great value option in my opinion. It can hold up to 60 pounds per bike, two bikes each and it's going to have no frame contact holding the bike by the front tire here using this wheel hook and the back tire with a wheel strap. No frame contact makes this a great option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes making this a very versatile rack in terms of what bikes it can work with. more

Hi, everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Honda CR-V. The Destination E is a platform style bike rack, holding the bike in these trays and primarily by our frame using this frame clamp. This is gonna rotate 360 degrees, move around the mast on the back here, and allow us to meet the bike where it is, that makes it a great option for alternative frame bikes. And with this being an e-bike rack, it can support up to 70 pounds per bike, so some of our bigger e-bikes can fit on here. The one thing I would steer away from is carbon frame bikes, because frame contact already isn't good for the carbon frame, and especially a clamp like this where we're putting a lot of pressure around that frame. more

That's gonna mean there's zero frame contact on the bike, making it good for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and with a 60 pound weight capacity per bike, you can get an e-bike on here too. There will be a second point of contact with the back tire in the form of a wheel strap. That's really just meant to hold that back tire down, keep it secured. more

Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have the Yakima On-Ramp Two Bike Platform Rack and we'll take a look at how it fits the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. So the On-Ramp is gonna be good for your heavy electric bikes because it has an included ramp that's actually attached to the rack which is good because other bike racks that have ramps have to be stored inside of the vehicle. Now with this too you can also carry your heavier electric bikes and is one of the few bike racks that tilts far enough away so that you have hatch clearance on the Wagoneer. It does have some downsides too like there's a lot of different levers and straps that you do have to deal with so it's not as quick and easy as the Kuat NV. So let's talk about that. When we're talking about levers and pins, if we wanna tilt this bike rack away there's two pins that you have to deal with. more

The Destination 4 is great if you wanna carry around a lot of bikes without taking up a lot of space or spending a lot of money. It does have its pros where it can carry a variety of sizes of bikes. It can even fit your little kids' bikes and your larger mountain bikes or step through bikes but also has some downsides. Like it only has a 35 pound weight capacity per bike and it doesn't tilt away. But for how it fits on the Wagoneer, not tilting away is actually not a bad thing because most bike racks that do tilt away don't tilt away far enough for the hatch on the Wagoneer to open up fully. more

Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 platform-style, two-bike bike rack on a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan. When choosing a bike rack for any vehicle there's lots of different choices, and the NV is definitely one of my personal favorites, not only because it's a platform style which I think is the best way to secure a bike, but also it's wheel mounted. That means that you're going to have a variety of different bikes that can go on here, including e-bikes and also carbon fiber frames, whereas sometimes your frame-mounted ones, you're limited as to what you can put on here, and this one works really well, even with a large, 29-inch bike with a long wheel base. That's pretty wide. It works really well on this Tiguan. The capacities of this bike rack are pretty solid too. more

Hey, everybody. Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at our RockyMounts MonoRail on our 2022 BMW X7. Our bike rack is going to be a platform style bike rack, being able to hold two bikes weighted for 60 pounds each, which means our e-bikes are going to be able to be held by this, as well as, we have frameless contact, our front hook as well as our back ratchet strap, means that our carbon frame style and our alternative frame style bike racks are going to be able to be held by this bike rack. In order to gain access into our hatch, this bike rack actually comes with a foldaway feature. We just have to pull the lever, slowly took this out of the way, and they'll be able to gain access into our hatch. more

Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 BMW X7- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer and today we're going to be taking a look at our Kuat NV 2.0 on our 2022 BMW X7. Our bike rack's going to be a platform style bike rack holding up to two bikes weight rated at 60 pounds each which means our heavier e-bikes are going to be okay for this bike rack. And as we kind of notice here amongst our back strap and our front strap it's going to be frameless style contact as well which means we are going to be able to use our alternative frame bikes as well as our carbon frame bikes too. One of the really nice things about the NV is it actually comes with a tilt away feature, and then we're gonna do that by pulling our lever right here and then slowly tilting it back which is gonna allow us access into our truck. So that way if we have our shoes, our helmet back here or anything, or if we just want to sit down after our ride, before we head out for the day, we're gonna have the ability to do that. Even with the X7's additional tilt down features there's still plenty of room for me to sit down right here even put my shoe up and tie if I really wanted to. more

So the Curt Premium is a hanging rack that I would recommend for people that are taking around family bikes, as well as maybe your mountain bikes because of the unique way this is designed. Now, when possible, I do recommend taking a look at the platform racks we have available for your CX-9, but I also understand that the hanging rack is preferred by someone because it takes up less space, as well as is lighter than most racks. So, here we have the four bike version. This is also available as a five bike version, which is awesome if you want to get more bikes around. With this in place, you have one and two of your normal size cradles, but notice how the arms pivot into where they're closer together. more

The front tire's held in by a wheel hook so it makes zero frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Toyota 4Runner- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTR platform style bike rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Now this is going to be a four-bike rack capable of carrying up to four bikes. It's gonna be a pretty easy system to use because it makes no frame contact, holds the bike by the front tire and the back wheel. The back wheel is held in by a wheel strap and that front tire uses a wheel hook. The hook is the thing that primarily keeps this upright and in place and the back strap provides stability. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Toyota Tundra- Video
Hi, everyone, Aidan here with etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2022 Toyota Tundra. MHS is a platform-style bike rack that holds the bike by the tires and in these trays. It's gonna mean a couple things, we've got zero frame contact making it good for our carbon frame and alternative frame bikes, and good for some of our e-bikes too with that battery removed. Like many other bike racks in this class, we do have the ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded just by squeezing this handle at the back end here and letting the bike rack down. It'll stop itself right there, and then this will give us access to our truck bed by opening the tailgate up. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2022 RAM 1500. The MHS is a platform style bike rack that can hold up to two bikes. They're gonna be held in these trays and by the tires. Got two wheel hoops, one on either wheel and that's gonna hold it in place with a secondary point of contact on our back tire with a wheel strap over it. It doesn't make any frame contact so it's gonna make it good for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
What's up, everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com, today we're gonna be checking out the Saris MHS platform system on our 2022 Subaru Outback wagon. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack, holds the bike by the tires, which really opens it up to a bunch of different style bikes, let's check it out. The different style of bikes this can carry are kind of unlimited because you don't have to hold it by the frame, so then even carbon fiber bikes can go on here where we usually don't recommend those on the hanging style because that could damage the frame but, holding 'em by the tires makes it far easier. Not only that, there's not gonna be a center mast here that's in the way on some other platform style bike racks, so it's gonna help with loading and unloading, and we'll get to that in a little bit but, just kinda want to point out some quick positives about it. Another thing, is it can tilt away with the bike fully loaded, so let's go ahead and do that, that way if you forget something in the back of your Outback or you wanna throw something in there and you got everything loaded, you don't have to take everything off just to get to the back of that so, we'll just pull on this lever down here, and the whole thing tilts down to about there. It's even got a stopper, just in case the hitch is a little bit lower, it would stop before it goes fully to the ground, which is nice because some of those bike racks that do tilt, if it is low you have to move your hand away from that handle before it touches the ground, this one's got a stopper. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2019 GMC Acadia- Video
Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Seris MHS modular bike rack on a 2019 GMC Acadia. Because of the double tire hold, this bike rack can accommodate a lot of different kinds of bikes, especially your carbon frames and those with a custom paint job, pretty much the only kind would be those with a fender and it does have a tilt away feature, which is awesome. The only problem is with our long handlebars here. Our hatch is going to make contact at about right here but we can just take the bike off to be able to access that. We are gonna have three attachment points, a strap for the front tire and then two of the wheel mounts. To take the bike off, we're gonna start with the strap and just get that out of the way. more

So to start off, if you are looking for a more premium rack this is gonna be in that category. It does have a couple cool features, but the first thing about this is we don't have to worry about not being able to access our hatch on our Grand Cherokee L. Just gonna pull this lever.
