The Hollywood Racks Destination 2 is gonna be a very cost effective way to get two bikes to and from your destination, and today we're gonna be taking a look at it on a 2019 Subaru Outback wagon. So this one's gonna be limited to 35 pounds per bike. So those e-bikes, we're probably not going to want to put those on this rack. And it does have frame contact, so those carbon fiber frame bikes, this may not be the best option for you. But, when it comes to everything else, the wheel base is gonna be a max of 48 inches. And the cool thing about this is, if you do have some smaller wheel base bikes, so the kids' bikes or something like that, the little straps right here, what we can do is we can twist this knob, loosen this up. more

So the Destination is an excellent entry-level bike rack option for you and a friend because we can carry up to two bikes. Now, there's two different classifications of bike racks. We have the platform style, which is what this is here and we also have the hanging style. So with the platform style, generally speaking, you can carry a little bit of a heavier bike and they're much easier to load your bikes onto than the hanging style rack because you have to lift them much higher. Now, on the contrary hanging style bike racks usually don't accommodate those heavy bikes. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna be checking out, the Yakima OnRamp on our 2022, Subaru Outback wagon. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack, that holds the bike right up here on the frame so we don't recommend using carbon fiber bikes on this just because of the frame contact. But the good thing about that is these cradles, can spin 360 degrees, and, you can loosen them and adjust them up and down the mast. So, because they're so easily adjustable, it works with these e-bike frames because they are very much alike alternative frames so it's kinda hard to if they had a hook to come down here in the center, it wouldn't work really well with it. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack here on our 2019 Subaru Outback. So this is gonna be a great option for you and the family because it allows us to carry up to four bikes. And furthermore, you can kinda notice how our arms sorta taper in at the end here, and the reason for that is a lot of kids bikes don't quite have the frame linked to some of the adults bikes have, like you can see here. Therefore, we're not always able to fit them on the cradles, because they're just spaced too far apart, which is why we have a much narrower spread here that's gonna work great with both adult bikes as well as the kids bikes with the shorter frame. So there's two main types of bike racks out there. We have the platform style and the hanging style which is what we see here. more

Hey everybody. How's it goin' Today, we're gonna be going over the Thule Hitching Post Pro Four-Bike Rack here on a 2022 Subaru Outback. So the Hitching Post Pro is gonna be an excellent economical bike rack for you and the family, as it can carry up to four bikes. Now, the Hitching Post Pro is what's known as a hanging style bike rack, meaning we're gonna be carrying the bikes by the top tube here, compared to a platform style bike rack. Now just a quick, simple comparison between hanging and platform style bike racks: hanging style bike racks are typically a little bit lighter, whereas platform bike racks, a little bit more bulky, and they're heavier to move. Platform, however, allow you to carry heavier bikes, whereas the hanging style, which we have here, is usually limited to about 35lbs. more

So, the Road Runner is what's known as a hanging style bike rack. So, the hanging style bike rack consists of the vertical upright with these two horizontal arms here. So, in regards to the hanging versus platform-style racks, the platform-style racks are a little bit easier to load your bikes on, and get them off, but they're also heavier and they're more expensive. more

Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 on our 2015 Subaru Outback. The color you see now is gray, but it comes in two other colors, black and pearl, so just pick whichever one is going to go best with your vehicle. This one's a two inch hitch, but all the other colors are going to come in an option of an inch and a quarter as well. We're going to get 40 pounds per bike with the Sherpa. So it's going to be great for all your road bikes and especially good for your carbon fiber frame bikes, just because we do have a little wheel hook here, so we're not going to be putting any stress on our frame.This isn't going to be a bike rack if you have some fat tire bikes because the wheel cradles are only going to accept a wheel with up to three inches in width. more

This is going to be a really nice upgraded hanging style bike rack. What I like about hanging styles is they're a little bit more affordable, even for a higher end version like this one, but it gives us a little bit better ground clearance with our bikes, so we don't have a big platform hanging out. Now the downside to hanging style is it gets a little bit more crowded. The nicer frames, carbon frames, those aren't ideal for hanging style because one, you're putting a lot of pressure on the frame, but two, they're close and you might scratch them. more

But it's also going to alleviate the problem of having to put our bikes on top of our roof, which if you're a little bit on the shorter side like I am, I really don't like roof rack systems because me having to lift my bike up over my head, I just get worried that I might scratch my car. Not to mention having it on the back of your car is just going to make it easier, not have to lift it up, and we're going to save some space from trying to cram it into the back of our wagon here.But our bike is going to have three points of contact. This is a hanging style rack that allows you to carry two bikes to and from your destination. It has a unique design and that is constructed out of aluminum. Colin: Hey, everyone. I'm Colin here at eTrailer.So we have a 2014 Subaru Outback, and we're going to do a test fit of the Saris SuperClamp EX two-bike platform-style rack. This is a platform rack that allows you to transport two bikes, to and from your destination.Now you don't see too many bikes out there that have four points of contact for the bike, so it's got a very good hold on the bike. You can literally hardly move it at all.The bonus of this is that there's no frame contact, so you don't have to worry about any type of scratches or abrasions occurring on the nice frame of your bike.Now, the four points of contact, we're going to have two of them. We're going to have one on top of the back wheel, another one on top of the front wheel, because the hooks are putting downward force on top of the wheels, forcing them down into the cradles.The other two points of contact are going to be the straps that are securing the bottom of our wheels into the cradles. Again, those four points of contact are just going to do a great job of making sure the bike does not go anywhere.Now, if the bike rack is fully loaded, and you need to gain access to the trunk, you can do so by tilting it away from the vehicle. more

Hey everyone. Today we have a 2018 Subaru Outback, and we're going to do a test for the 2E Apex XT four bike hanging style rack. Notice the hitch mounted bike rack, so it mounts to the hitch receiver on your Outback. It allows you to carry up to four bikes to and from the trails. This bike rack is going to have an onboard cable lock. It comes from the base right here, comes all the way over and locks into that slot. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon HR1400Z- Video
Today on our 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE4 platform style four-bike rack. That's part number HR1400Z. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like on your Subaru and how it's going to hold our bikes.I did say it's a four-bike rack, but this can also be converted down to a two-bike rack, and you can also take off the two-bike extension and put on a cargo carrier. This bike rack has a ton of options. As I said, it can be converted down to that two-bike rack. If we're not carrying all of these bikes, we can take off that extra weight, we're going to have more clearance off the back, and just carry our two bikes, or our two bikes and some cargo. more
