One of the prominent features about this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached. To do that, we'll come to the base here first. You can see we have two pins, a smaller one here, and a larger one. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2016 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTB Two-Bike Platform Rack, part number TH9034XT. Now, one of the really nice things about this bike rack is, is that we don't have to remove our bike to get into our back hatch. If you come down here, grab this lever, the bike rack will tilt down. Then from either side of the vehicle, we still have access to get anything in or out that we may need. To put the back back into position, simply come back, lift up on the lever, and you'll hear it lock into place. Now, there's no frame contact on the bike the way it's mounted. You have a wheel hook up here in the front, and you have a strap, a ratcheting strap, back here. more

Now to put the bike back into position, just lift up and it will lock into place. Now I do want to mention there is no frame contact on the way this is mounted to the bike rack. In the front here we have a wheel hook, and in the back here we have a strap that's going to hold on our wheel. Now to take it off, simply push in on the tab, feed the strap out. Then we come up to the front here. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey

Today in this 2013 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be testing the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack. Part number TH912XTR. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look. Now, how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact with the bike's frame: we're going to have two straps up top here, and one strap of. One strap of to the side which is going to access an anti-sway strap, to keep it from going back and forth, hitting the bike rack and possibly the bike in front of it. Let's go and take the bike off and set it aside. Now once you remove the straps it's always a good habit to actually put them back in place because you don't want them flapping around when you're driving, you don't want to loose them while you're driving. Now a fact, once you get into situations in which you're in close court, such as parking garages or parking in general, these arms do fold down but before I do that, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements. The first is going to be how much distance is added to the vehicle once the bike rack is installed, and we go ahead and measure from the bumper. So, from this point down, we have about 27 inches. For ground clearance, which is going to be this point right here, it's about 10 1/2 inches, and then the closest point is going to be this gray lever here, that's going to be about 3 inches. Now, as I said earlier, these do fold down, you just go to this gray lash here, lift up, let it fall, and once you hear that click, they're secured in place. Now, at this point the only measurement that changes is the over all distance, which is now, with the straps all the way... more

That is going to be the frame hook up here. Let's go ahead and take the bike off, and set it off to the side. Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Honda Odyssey

Today on our 2012 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Freedom 4 Bike Rack platform style for 2" hitches, part number SA4414B. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch on our vehicle. You'll want to watch for the hitch pin holes to line up. With those in line, we'll take the threaded anti-rattle hitch pin bolt and thread that into place. The part that it threads onto is an insert that goes inside the shank, so you'll want to make sure that that's in line, otherwise it's not going to go in. Once we get this hand-tight, we'll go ahead and take a wrench and finish it off the rest of the way. Tightening this down will help eliminate any movement in the shank of the rack, which helps eliminate movement overall when going down the road. We'll attach our clip to the other side and grab a couple of measurements. The closest part of the rack to the vehicle is going to be here, this wheel cradle, or excuse me the frame cradle, that measures about 3-1/4" from the bumper. more
