Saris Glide EX 2 Bike Rack Review - 2015 Ford Explorer- Video
Jake: Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we have a 2015 Ford Explorer, and we're going to be test fitting the Saris Glide EX 2 Bike Hanging-Style Rack. This rack is going to hold your bike at three different points of contact. You're going to have two up here on the top, and one on the anti-sway cradle. This anti-sway cradle is very, very important to keep your bike from shifting too much when on a hanging-style rack.Now, with most hanging-style racks you're not going to be able to tilt your bike rack away from your vehicle to be able to gain access to your rear hatch. As you can see now, we do not have hardly any room to open that up to get any gear or anything inside our car. more

We'll remove the larger pin first, we'll pull that out, and now while holding onto the bike rack we'll let it tilt away, and now we have full access to get to our rear hatch to get what we need, and plenty of space on either side to do so. more

Malone Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2011 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on our 2011 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Malone Hanger Three-Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number MPG2127. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. At the end of both of our arms we do have these reflectors for better visibility at night. The cradles are accessible along the arms to accommodate loading, and you tighten them down by tightening these screws at the bottom here. It'll grip your bike at two points. We're going to have this strap up at the top here and one off to the side, which will serve as an anti-sway cradle to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and making bike-to-bike contact. We also have this foam pad at the mast here to help protect the frame of your bike from any scratches or abrasion. more

Today on our 2017 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Dispatch Two Bike platform rack for two-inch hitches, part number S64684. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have a padded frame hookup at the top and it's padded to make sure the bike itself doesn't get damaged or scratched once it's being installed. We'll also have two wheel straps on either tire. The wheel wells are adjustable by loosening and tightening these knobs to accommodate loading, but also to accommodate bikes of different sizes as well. It does have a raised shank to it so even if your hitch does sit particularly low to the ground, you're not going to have clearance issues. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on our 2010 Ford Explorer we're going to be test fitting a Kuat NV 2.0 2-bike platform rack. Now as you can see, we already have our bike securely attached to the rack. One of the really nice features of this rack is you can actually tilt the rack down without having to remove it and still gain access to the back hatch. You still have room to get anything in or out that you may need. Now to lock the bike rack back in place, simply pick up and it will lock back in place. Now the bike is tied down and attached at two points, one at the rear wheel with a strap. To remove it you just push this button, pull the strap out, push this button on the hook, release it, tilt it out of the way, and your bike will come right off. more

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 4 Bike Platform Rack, part number N105-107. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. Now the first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that this bike rack can actually tilt with the bike still on it. To do that, there's a silver switch here on the passenger side. I want to hold onto the bike rack for this. You pull out, like so, and let the bike rack tilt forward, and we have full access to our rear hatch, without having to remove the bikes. To put it back into the originally position, you simply just lift up on the rack, until you hear that click, and it's locked into place. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. It's going to have three points of contact with your bike's frame. We're going to have two straps up top, here, and one off to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep it from moving too far back and forth hitting onto the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. All right with that done, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. With the bike rack in this position we've added about 23 inches to the rear of the vehicle. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro 2 bike rack, part #TH9034. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack and first I'd like to show you it's most important feature which is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. You go up to the front here which has this pull handle, you pull in holding onto the bike rack, let it come forward and you have complete access to your rear hatch. Now to put it back in its original position, you just grab the handle again, lift up until you hear that click and it's locked back into place. Now what's nice about this is the fact that the handle's on the outside here where a lot of other bike racks will have handles more toward the inside, it'd be a little bit harder to get to. Okay, now how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 2 points of contact and absolutely no frame contact at all with your back. We'll have a wheel hook up at the front here and wheel strap at the back. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4 bike rack, part #TH9029XT. As you can see, we already have a bike on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now how the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact with your bike's frame. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top here and 1 off to the side which is going to act as an anti sway strap to keep the bike from going back and forth, possibly hitting either the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Also we have this cable lock here which will go up and around the bikes and up to this point here where it can lock and add further security for your bikes while you travel. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look at it, and show off some of the features. How the bike attaches to the rack, you're going to have 3 points of contact with your bike's frame. We're going to have 2 straps up top, here, and one off to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, hitting either the bike rack, or the bikes in front of it. Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride element parallelogram tilting bike rack, part number SR26248. Now, as you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and show off some of the features. The most important feature about this is that it actually tilts away from the bike rack with the bikes installed, which is pretty unique since this is a hanging bike rack and not a platform. To do that, there's this handle here on the passenger side, right here. Pull that out and it actually tilts away from the vehicle like so, and you can do this with all 4 bikes on it. We have access to our rear hatch, with more than enough room on either side to get what you need. more

Saris Thelma Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer we're going to be test fitting the Saris Thelma 3-Bike Platform Rack, part number SA4239B. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. How it's actually attached to the rack there's going to be two points of contact, and no frame contact at all. There's going to be two wheel straps on either side. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside for now. Go ahead and put our straps back into place, so we don't lose them while driving. I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Explorer- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack, part number S64684. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have the frame hook up at the top, which is padded so it will not scratch or damage your bike when being installed. It has two wheel straps on either side. more
