Today on our 2015 Ford Expedition, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Saris Thelma pane style, or excuse me, platform style three bike rack, part number SA4239-B. As you can see we've already got a bike up here on the platform in place so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it assembled and on the back of your vehicle. Now do keep in mind that this rack does come with your inch and a quarter shank, but it's only advisable that if you carry it with your one class one hitch that you're only carrying two bikes. You can put two bikes on your class two receivers, and then it also comes with that two inch adapter for your class three hitches. Let's start off by getting a few measurements first. Our closest distance will be first, and from the front here to the back side of the bumper it'll be about 5 3/4 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms, be about 37 1/2 inches. more

Let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closes distance is going to be to here to the shank where it bends going into our receiver at about 7 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle with the bike rack in place from the back of the bumper to the back of the cradles is going to be about 24 inches with the rear ground clearance being about 24 and three-quarter inches. Now let's talk about how the bike is placed on the rack and secured. You're going to have your two SuperClamps as well as your rear strap for your rear wheel. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Expedition, we're gonna be doing a test fit of the Dooley Vertex Hanging Style for bike rack. This is gonna be for your inch and a quarter as well as your two inch receivers. Just keep in mind that if you have a class one, you're only going to be able to carry up to two bikes. Now you can see we have our bike on here and in place, so that you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully installed on your vehicle. It's gonna be part number TH9029XT, and we'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be first, and that's gonna be from the bumper to the front of this flange that hangs off the front side of your rack. And that's gonna be about 4 and 7/8ths inches. Excuse me, about 4 and 3/8ths inches. Overall this inset we've added to this vehicle, from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms will be about 37 and 3/4 inches with the ground clearance of about 18 and 1/4 inches. Up top we'll talk about the straps that secure the bike to the platform and cradle arms. You're gonna have your two across the top which are gonna be your frame straps and they're gonna keep your bike secured to the platform and keep them from bouncing up and down while you're driving up and down the road. The most important one is gonna be your anti-sway strap. more

Our closest distance will be the first one and that's going to be from the bumper and receiver to this front bracket here at a distance of about 2-1/8". Our overall distance to the back of the cradle arms will be about 28-1/2". Our ground clearance from the bottom side looks to be about 17-3/4". Up top we'll talk about the straps and secure the bike to our cradle arms. The top ones, here and here, are going to help to keep the bike in place and keep it from bouncing up and down. The most important one is going to be that anti-sway strap and it'll be the first and last strap that you take off. more

The overall distance that we've added from the rear of the bumper to the back of the rack here, is going to be about 36 inches, with a ground clearance of about 18 inches. Now up top, we're going to have our straps that secure our bike, and you're going to have a lower hanging one and one that sits up above. The one that sits up above, is going to be your frame strap and it's going to keep the bike from bouncing up and down while you're driving up and down the road. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition, were going to be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero, a tilting 2 bike rack for 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number TH9042. To begin our test fit, were going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, while we hold out on the attached pin. Once our pin holes are lined up, well let this pin slide into the hole. Well then turn the black knob. This will engage our anti-rattle device, further securing the rack to our vehicle. In this position, well take a few measurements. We will have about 18-3/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2-3/4 of an inch and overall, weve added about 18-3/4 of an inch to our car. more

Yakima StickUp 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Expedition

Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test fitting the Yakima stickup. A platform style folding rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches part number Y02420. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes, throw in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. With our rack in this position we'll have about 18 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about nine and a quarter inches, and over all we've added about 10 and half inches to the length of the Expedition. Pulling the red knob at the base of the rack on the left side will allow you to tilt the rack away from your vehicle into the platform position. In this position you have about 27 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance at the rear, and over all we've added about 34 inches to the length of the vehicle. In this position as you can see you do have full access to your rear hatch. By pulling the red knob on the center mass we can stand it into it's upright position. We'll now move the frame hooks to the top of the mass and undo our wheel strap. We'll grab our bike, place our bike into the cradles, secure it first with the center frame hook, then with the real wheel strap. And just like that we're ready to go and that will complete today's test for the Yakima stickup part number Y02420 on our 2014 Ford Expedition. more

Well slide it in the way we lined up our pin holes, and then let the attached pin follow into the hole. Well then tighten the black knob to engage our anti-rattle device further securing our rack to our vehicle. In this position, we will have about 18-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our Expeditions about an inch and a half and overall, weve added about 12-3/4 of an inch to the length of the vehicle. more

To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch. We'll line up the pin holes and thread in an anti-rattle bolt. Then we can tighten that down with a wrench. Let's go over a few clearance measurements here. You will have about 18 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about 4 1/4 inches and overall we've added about 13 1/2 inches to the length of the Expedition. Pulling the gray lever at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle, and as you can see here it does give us full access to our rear hatch. more

Well line up our pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, well have about 17-3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is going to be about 8 inches away and overall, weve added about 16-1/2 inches to the length of the vehicle. Pulling the gold pin at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt the mast away from our rear hatch and as you can see, this will give you full access. With our mast back in its upright position, well pull the pin at the top of the mast. This is going to allow us to swing out our dual cradle arms. more

Pulling the gray lever located at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it into the platform position. In this position, we have about 23 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the rack and overall, were adding about 30-3/4 of an inch to the length of the Expedition. more

Today on our rack we'll be testing it on the two-bike configuration, Part Number PS63138. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll then line up our pinholes, tighten our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position we have about 18 and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle's about 6 inches away and overall we've added about 25 and a quarter inches to the length of the Expedition. By pulling the two outside pins on the rear of the rack we can tilt down our wheel cradles. By pulling the silver pin at the base of the mast we can tilt it away from our vehicle and as you can see this will give you full access into the rear hatch. more

Speaker: Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test-fitting the Kuat NV, an aluminum platform-style two bike rack for two inch hitches, Part Number N101. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, slide through our pin and secure it with the provided lock. We now turn the black knob here at the rear, this is going to engage our anti-rattle device and further secure the rack to our vehicle. In this position we will have about 18 1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the vehicle's about 5 1/2 inches and overall we've added about 16 inches in length to the vehicle. We now pull the orange lever on the right side of the base of the rack, this will allow us to tilt our rack into the platform position. In the loading position we will have about 26 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance here at the rear. The closest point has now become about 8 3/4 of an inch away from our vehicle and overall we've added about 36 inches in length to the car. Let's go ahead and load up our bike. more

In this position, you'll have about 20-3/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 7-3/4", and overall we've added about 26-3/4" to the length of our vehicle. Pulling the two black outside pins on the rear of the rack will allow us to fold down our wheel cradles, and by pulling the center pin, located on the center mast, we can tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see in this position, it does give us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, let's go ahead and check the ground clearance. It's changed slightly, as you can see, here at the rear of the rack, we now have about 23" worth of clearance. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Expedition we're going to be test fitting the Saris Axis, a tilting three bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number SA843B. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch we'll then thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it with a wrench. We'll secure it using the provided lock. In this position we'll have about eighteen and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about six and three quarters of an inch and overall we've added about fifteen and three quarters of an inch to the length of our vehicle. Pulling the yellow t-handle at the base of the rack allows us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see here this will gives us full access to our rear hatch. more

Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt the bike rack away from our vehicle, and as you can see, this does give us full access to our rear hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll extend our dual cradle arms. We'll do this by loosening the two black knobs, extending our arms into the appropriate slot, and re-secure with our knobs. more

Today on our 2011 Ford Expedition, well be test fitting part number a30901, the Sport Rack two bike hitch mounted bike rack with mount cradles for both inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. Now to begin our test fit well slide our bike rack shank with the included adapter into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and give you a few measurements, our ground clearance at the bike rack is 23-1/8 inches and from the closet point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 10-1/2 inches. Now well go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our cargo door and as you can see we can gain full access to the cargo area opening our cargo door completely with this bike rack. Were now almost ready to load our bike, all we need to do is make sure that our wheel loop straps are undone and out of the way and that our vertical bar clamp is fully extended. more
