Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Edge TH9042PRO- Video
Hey everyone, today we have a 2015 Ford Edge and we're gonna do a test fit with the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Hanging Style Rack.Now this bike rack is gonna allow you to carry up to two bikes, to and from the trails or wherever else you want to take them.It's got a unique design to it in that it's made out of solid aluminum so it's gonna be very lightweight and easy to handle. It comes in at just under 20 pounds so you're not gonna have too much trouble installing it in your hitch and taking it off for whenever you don't need it. When compared to a lot of other platform style racks, the ones that get up there 30 to 40 pounds, that could be a bit of a hassle and a bit of a strain on your back to be constantly put in and out of your hitch. While Thule came up with this bike rack so you don't have that problem anymore.The bike itself is gonna be held in at three different points. We're gonna have a strap on the top part of this tube, right here. We're also gonna have the same thing on the other side so two straps on top. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Ford Edge- Video
Speaker 1: Today on the 2017 Ford Edge, we're gonna be a test video on the Inno Airlite four bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. That part number is INH640.As you can see, we have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and how off some of these features. Now to start, we have an integrated cable lock system, which comes from the base of the bike rack, wraps around the frame of your bikes, and inserts into that column right there. When you want to unlock the cable, all you have to do is push up on this tab right here, you have the insert for your key, then you can unlock the cable.Our cradles have a nice hard rubber padding on them, which is gonna help protect the frame of your bike from any type of scratches or abrasions while you're traveling. The cradles also are adjustable, left and right, and up and down the bike rack to accommodate any type of spacing or size bikes you might have.Our bike is secured at three different points of contact. We have two straps on the top of our frame back there, securing them into the cradles. more

Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2016 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford Edge we're going to be taking a look at the Thule double track two bike platform rack, part number TH990XT. Now the way we have our bike mounted here is there's going to be three points of contact. We're going to have a frame hook right here and we're going to have a strap going over each wheel. Now the way we take these off, if we take the silver tab and we lift up and push in on the black button, feed our strap through, and we'll do the same thing on the back side. Now as we come to our frame hook here, if we push in on the gray button we can move our hook up and remove our bike. I always just like to put the straps back that way we don't have to worry about them getting damaged. Here on our frame hook it is going to make contact with the frame, but it does have a nice, soft foam coating so we don't have to worry about any scratches on our bike. more

Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2016 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford Edge, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Apex swing four bike rack, part number TH9027. Now one of the really nice features of this bike rack is that we can actually move our bike rack out of the way to gain access to our back hatch without having to remove the bike itself. If we come down here to think knob, it's going to be located directly behind the mast, we loosen this knob and we come up this lever here and we pull on this lever, we're going to actually swing our bike rack out of the way and we can gain full access to our back hatch to get anything in or out that we may need. Now to put our bike back into position, simply swing the bike rack back around, lift up on this lever and we can tighten down our knob again. Now if we take a closer look at how our bike is mounted to our bike rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two straps on our cross bar here and we're going to have one on the vertical support acting as our anti sway cradle. Now to take the bike off, simply pull on the rubber straps releasing them and our bike can come right off. more

Today on our 2016 Ford Edge we're going to be taking a look at the the Thule Vertex 4-bike rack, part number TH9029XT. Now the way we're going to secure our bike to our bike rack, there's going to be three points of contact. We're going to have two straps coming over the top crossbar here. Then we're going to have a rubber strap and our anti-sway cradle here. Now to take the bike off, simply pull the straps off. Once all the straps are removed, we can pull our bike right off. Now where our bike is going to meet the bike rack, it's going to have these nice grooves so it's going to have a secure grip on it as well, as the rubber-coated straps so we're not going to have to worry about any scratches or abrasions on our frame. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2016 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2016 Ford Edge we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro 4 Bike Rack, part number TH934XTR. Now, we already have our bike on our bike rack, and the way it's going to mount is we're going to have three points of contact. Two on the top crossbar here, and one on the vertical support that's going to act as the anti-sway cradle. Now, the way that we're going to take these off, simply just pull the straps off and our bike will come right off. Now, as you can see the grooves in our cradle are going to provide a nice secure grip for our bike, and the heavy duty straps have a rubber coating on them. So we're not going to have to worry about any scratches or abrasions on our bike frame. Now with the bike out of the way I'd like to give you a few measurements. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2014 Ford Edge we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Beta 2 Bike Rack, part number B202-2. We're going to have a bike installed on the rack. Lets go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. First off, we have the cradles. Now, they are fixed in these positions and they have these groves on the inside here, so your brake cables can actually fit into those groves and they won't get smashed up against the frame. Today on our on our 2015 Ford Edge we're going to be taking a look at the Swagman Trailhead 4-bike hanging-style rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number S63380. Now on this bike rack the bike is secured in three locations. We've got our two straps that are right there. Then we've got one more back here. The third location that we secure is down here on the downtube of the frame for sway control to make sure that the bike doesn't swing too much. Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2010 Ford Edge, we're doing a test fit of the Saris Bones Hitch Mounted 2 Bike Rack. That part number is SA882. Now, we already have our bike in place, but first I'm going to show you how we do that. We have 3 straps altogether, 2 on our frame here, and we have 1 as our anti-sway strap from the back. With those released, we can pull out our bike off the rack, and set it off to the side, and then I suggest you replace your strap so you don't lose or damage them. Now, first to have the bike attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact with he bike's frame. We're going to have 2 straps up top here, and off to the side here which is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from either hitting the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and just set it aside. Now, when you remove straps, it's always good practice to put them back into place, primarily because you don't want to loose them while you're driving, and you don't want them flapping around when you're driving, either. With that done, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. The first is going to be how much distance is added to the vehicle once the bike rack is installed. I'm going to go ahead and measure form the bumper since that's the furthest point out. From this arm down it's about 37 inches. And our ground clearance ... more

Now, this one has 3 points of contact with your bike. One on the frame with the frame hook here, and you have two wheel straps on the front and the back tire. This bike rack is designed to work with 1-1/4" and 2" hitches and the part number for that is Y02462. Now, as you can see, we do already have our bike secured onto our rack. We're going to show you how we secure that onto the rack and then also some extra features. As you can see here, we do have 3 cradles and straps that are keeping our bike to the rack itself. We've got 2 on the frame here and the one which is on the seat post that's going to be our anti-sway strap. Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the Saris Thelma hitch mounted 3 Bike Rack for inch and a quarter inch, 2 inch hitches, part number SA4239B. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up our pin holes we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it down using a wrench, and then secure with a clip on the other side.With the bike rack secured we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. Closest part of the bike rack to the closet part of the vehicle is about 2 inches away and we've added about 12 and a 1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford. 3We can now remove the gold pin at the base of the bike rack and fold down the platform. With the platform down we have about 15 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 3 inches away and we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of our edge. With the platform down you can see that we do have access to the rear hatch. more

Softride Hang2 Tilting Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Softride Hang2 Hitch Mounted 2-Bike Rack, part number SR27041. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down using the wrench. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11" of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 2-3/4" away, and we've added about 21" to the overall length of our vehicle. To load up a bike, we'll need to remove the two silver pins at the top of the mast. This will allow us to swing the top bar of the bike rack out. When unfolding the top bar of the bike rack, you want to make sure that you keep a steady hold on it, as it could slide back and hit the back of your vehicle. After lining up the holes, we'll then re-insert the silver pin to secure it in place. more

You then secure the lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about four and a half inches away and we've added about 13 inches to the overall length of our Ford. We can now lift up on the yellow levers on the upper left and right hand corner of the back rack. This allows us to slide the arms off the grooves, onto the smooth part and raise the cradle arms up. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch. We'll line up the pin hole and thread in our anti-rattle bolt tightening it with a wrench. Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 14 inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Ford Edge is about 6 1/2 inches. We've added about 18 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll pull the lever at the base of our bike rack on the back side of the mast. more

SportRack Super EZ Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Edge we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ platform style two bike rack, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After threading in our anti rattle bolt we'll tighten it down with a wrench and secure it with a lock on the other side. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 13-1/2 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about nine inches away, and we've added about 24 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. To access the rear hatch, we can pull the three black pins at the base of the bike rack and tilt the wheel cradles down as well as the mast. As you can see, we can easily gain access to the rear hatch. more

Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge- Video
Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero Hitch-Mount 2 0:05 Bike Rack for 2 inch hitches, part number TH9042. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. We'll allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into place and we'll then turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. With the back rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 17 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 3-1/4 of an inch away. With the cradle arms down, we've added about 16-1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford. more

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4-Bike Carrier, Part Number TH9027. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, lineup our pinholes, allow the integrated hitch pin to fall into the hitch holes and turn the black knob to engage the anti-rattle device. Now, with our two-way Apex Swing secured to our Ford Edge, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 13 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 11 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To load the bike, we'll undo the cradle straps, place the bike into the frame cradles and secure with the straps. To access the cargo area, we'll unscrew the black T-handle at the base of the carrier and then lift up on the black T-handle with a gold post. more

Now, with our two-way Apex secured to our Ford Edge, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about five inches. With the cradle arms folded down, we've added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the grey lever at the top of the mast and with the cradle arms out, we've added about 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area, we'll lift up the gray handle at the bottom of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our cargo door. more
