Confessions With A Long Term Kuat Transfer Bike Rack Owner- Video

And as far as being an installer at etrailer during the day, outside of work I'm an avid mountain biker and I've lived with the Kuat Transfer platform style bike rack on this car with this bike configuration for about two years. And there's a lot of things that I really like about it and there's a few things that maybe you don't realize until you have a little bit of ownership and you see some of the nuances. So I'm hoping to point those out and give you an inside look of long-term ownership of a Kuat Transfer. Now if you're looking at platform style bike racks I think you're already on the right path. RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2023 Jeep Gladiator- Video
Hi everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMounts AfterParty on the back of our 2023 Jeep Gladiator. Now, the AfterParty is going to be a pretty premium bike rack, but it has some really nice premium features to match. One thing that works really well with the Gladiator is that we actually have an integrated swing away function. So, we just go ahead and loosen this lever here, make sure that we unthread it all the way. And once we have it unthread, we just can go ahead and pull a pin here on the back allowing us to swing the whole entire bike rack away. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2023 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hi, Matt here with etrailer. And today we're gonna talk about the Yakima FullTilt on the back of a 2023 Toyota Tacoma. This is gonna be a hanging style bike rack with the ability to hold up to five bikes and the weight capacity up to 40 pounds per bike. We're gonna have three tie down points, two up here, and the other one on the back of the frame. Now, if I shake this frame, it's gonna wiggle a little bit, but it's pretty stable, except for our front tire. Now, if you want this to be more secure I'd recommend finding something to tie this down with, so it's not gonna wiggle as much. more

Now, the FullTilt is going to be a hanging style bike rack, able to accommodate up to five bikes with an individual weight capacity of 40 pounds each. Now, couple things that that means, because it's a 40 pound weight capacity, unfortunately we're not going to be able to carry around our heavier e-bikes. And I mean, looking at the height of the Wagoneer, plus the FullTilt, we might not (indistinct) will not have to lift 60 pounds that high anyways. more

Yakima EXO Swing Away 2 Bike Rack and Enclosed Cargo Carrier Review - 2023 Kia Telluride- Video

Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima EXO System Swing Away Bike Rack and Cargo Carrier and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2023 Kia Telluride. This is gonna be a completely modular cargo system for your hitch, and what I mean by that is all the pieces you see here this is going to be a full kit but you can get each one separately and you can get more pieces to build on top of it and swap things out. So this kit consists of the swing away arm, the top shelf which adds the second layer to the whole system. It's got the gear locker cargo box in the bottom and the bike rack on top. more

So Destination 2 is actually gonna be one of my favorite affordable or entry-level bike racks, because even though it is missing out on some premium features like tilting away or integrated cable locks, it still has a lot of the good foundations to a solid platform rack. I think it's a pretty good fit. You know this is gonna be a great economical way to carry around a couple of bikes. Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Toyota Camry- Video
Hey, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today, we have the Swagman Current 2-Bike Platform Rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. Right off the bat, if you wanna carry around extra heavy electric bikes, I know your options are limited with the Camry, because you have an inch and a quarter hitch receiver. So whenever you do have to carry those heavy bikes, please double check their weight, see if you can take off the batteries, if they are removable, also, better for the battery life to do that and keep them in your car, and make sure you don't exceed your tongue weight capacity. So with that being said, the Swagman Current will help you out with carrying around those bikes. This is designed to fit in those inch and a quarter hitches, you do have some premium features here to make it easier to live with heavy bikes, one of them is gonna be it has a tilt away lever. That bright green lever, if you pull that or I guess lift it, you can drop this rack down to a tilt, and that allows you to open up the trunk. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Toyota Camry- Video
Hi, everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 bike platform rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2018 Toyota Camry. So right off the bat, we did put a hitch receiver on this Camry in order to carry around a hitch-mounted bike rack like this. It was an inch and a quarter hitch, which kind of limited our options, but even then, the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 is a great match. It's lightweight, it's affordable, and it has that nice platform rack design which gives you that extra stability. So compared to hanging racks, your bikes are gonna be a lot more stable on this rack. Now, since it is an entry level bike rack though, you do lose out on some premium features you expect with the more premium racks. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Honda CR-V- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Kuat Transfer V2 three-bike platform rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Honda CR-V. So the Transfer is unique because you can carry around multiple bikes, but it still has this open space in the middle to make it easier to load those bikes up. And if you have it folded up against the CR-V, you still have a lot of visibility in the back. So focusing on this bike rack with this car, first, we're going to tilt it away. So if you needed to open up your hatch and grab whatever you needed, what I do is I put the arms up to the side that way it can step into that goal post design, and then it's easier to hit that lever to bring the rack down. Unfortunately though, because the Transfer doesn't tilt down that much, if you did want to open up the hatch fully on the CR-V, we are not able to do so. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Thule T2 Pro XTR four bike platform rack. We're going to take a look at how this multi bike bike rack fits our 2022 Mazda CX9. So if you're a fan of the Thule T2 Pro XTR which is their premium bike rack but you want the version that can carry around a lot of bikes, this is gonna be the one. You can take off the add-on and convert it back to a two bike platform rack or you can keep it in the four bikes configuration. Well, when you do have this many bikes though you also have more space as well as more weight that you are going to have to consider. Hey everybody, Cooper here from etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Envy 2.0 on our 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. Now, the Envy 2.0 is going to be a platform style bike rack able to accommodate up to two bikes with an individual weight capacity of 60 pound per bike. It does come with a tilt away feature but as we've discovered with a lot of the bike racks we have tried on our Wagoneer, it doesn't actually tilt far enough or aggressively enough for our hatch to clear our pedals and our handlebars. So, we'll give you a look at that real quick, just show you what that would look like. So, there is a handle here in the middle that we're gonna just go ahead and pull which allows us to tilt our bike rack away. more

The GuideRail does also have a tilt away feature where we're just going to pull the lever located at the bottom of the rack and then slowly tilt it down allowing us that full hatch access. more

This is gonna be a great option to carry your E-bikes if you need something that's going to be easy to use. Now it does have a lot of touch points, a lot of little straps and things to hold the bike in place, so that can be a little bit unfriendly at first while you're getting used to the bike rack. But I think it does a number of things really well. It holds the bike in place really solidly, that grants it a 70 pound weight capacity per bike. more

Our two main points of contact are going to be on our front and back tire, this dual wheel mount design that have two ratcheting arms that hold it by the tires. So what all that means together is that we're going to be able to accommodate a wide variety of bikes, whether it's an e-bike, a carbon frame bike, or even our alternative frame bikes. One thing really nice about the Piston Pro is it does come with a tilt away feature, has a lever that sits in the middle of the rack, and as we slowly tilt our rack away from our vehicle, we do have the full hatch access. more

Now the Destination series of bike racks is actually going to be my preferred series of bike racks when it comes to entry-level, and the Destination 4 actually does a really good job at holding up to four bikes individually, with a individual weight capacity of 35 pounds each. Because it is a more entry-level bike rack, it does lack some of the advanced features, like a tilt-away, and other things that we'll get into a little bit later. But overall, I am very happy with the rack itself. It's a very easy way just to throw on four bikes and hit the road. more

Now, our rack is going to be a hanging-style bike rack, able to accommodate up to four bikes individually weight rated for 35 pounds each. Because we are making that frame contact and due the weight rating, unfortunately, e-bikes and those carbon frame bikes are not going to be an option here. We can accommodate some alternative frame bikes, but you wanna make sure that you do get an adapter bar for that. Now, it does offer a tilt away feature, but you don't wanna tilt away with those bikes loaded, because that's just additional weight to worry about. more

Yakima RidgeBack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima RidgeBack on our 2022 Mazda CX9. Now our bike rack is going to be a hanging style bike rack able to accommodate up to four bikes individual weight capacity for each of those being 40 pounds. Because of that weight capacity, unfortunately, we're not going to be carrying around our e-bikes and because our main points of contact is on our frame we're not gonna be able to do our carbon frame bikes either. But if you do have an alternative frame bike or a kids' bike and get a adapter bar you may be able to fit these onto here. Our bike rack does come with a tilt away feature but we don't wanna do that mostly because of the aggressive tilt might endanger the bikes towards the ground and you don't want to have all those bikes loaded up and have to lift all that weight. more

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everybody, Cooper here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the RockyMount's MonoRail, on our 2022 Mazda CX-9. Now our rack is going to be a platform style bike rack able to hold up to two bikes individually weight rated for 60 pounds each, meaning that our heavier e-bikes are gonna be able to stand on this rack. We are all also making no frame contact. Our two main points of contact are going to be a rubber strap back here, and our main point's going to be a hook we use on the front meaning we're not making any frame contact. So our alternative frame as well as our carbon frame bike racks are going to be used on here too. more

This is gonna be a bike rack capable of carrying up to five bikes, which for your Carnival could be a very good thing. Most bike racks that mount to your hitch do max out at around four bikes. So this one does have a leg up over the competition just a little bit. And it is going to lend itself really well towards families because if you've got bike adapter bars to make sure that those kids bikes fit over those arms, it's gonna be a really great way to carry all those bikes with you. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Transfer V2 Three Bike Rack and seeing how it fits on the back of our 2022 Kia Carnival. This is gonna be a platform style bike rack that can hold up to three bikes and it's going to be one that holds a bike by the tire using a front wheel hook at the front, and a wheel strap down at the bottom at the back. That means that when we're holding the bike, we're not touching the frame at all, making this a good option for carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes. And it does a pretty good job at getting a strong hold on the bike, but with the weight capacity, you're gonna run into a little bit of a limitation. It can only support 40 pounds per bike. more

This is gonna be a pretty good entry to the higher end bike racks. Certainly one of my personal favorites because it does hold the bike really well. We've got a front wheel hook and a back wheel strap, meaning that there's zero frame contact, making this a good option for carbon frame and alternative frame bikes. And with the 60 pound weight capacity per bike it can handle some e-bikes too. more

Hi John with e trailer. If you're ready to hit the trails, then check out the Kuat Transfer V2 that we have installed on our 2023 Toyota Camry. Now this is a platform style bike rack. We're gonna have two points of contact on it up here at the front with the wheel hook and it comes down and makes contact with the tire at the rear. We've got a strap that straps this down securely. Now this is a great choice if you have a bike like ours today that has a carbon frame or if you even have an alternative style frame. more

This uses a dual wheel mount design, meaning that it holds a bike by both tires and makes no frame contact, making this a great option for our carbon frame and alternative frame bikes because we're not relying on that frame to hold the bike.
