Today, on our 2014 Dodge Journey, we will be test fitting the Saris Thelma, a platform-style 3-bike rack for inch and a quarter and 2-inch hitches, part number SA4239B. To begin our test fit, we will slide the shank of our bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and then tighten it with a wrench. In this position, we will have about 12 inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our Journey is about 4-1/2 inches, and overall, we have added about 11-1/2 inches to our vehicle. By pulling the gold-colored pin, we can unfold the bike rack into its loading position. As you can see, in this position, we do have full access to our rear hatch. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Journey we will be test fitting the Saris Cycle-On, a platform style 2-bike rack for 2 inch hitches Part Number SA4024. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tighten it with a wrench, and secure it with our lock. In this position we have about 11-3/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of our rack to the back of our vehicle is about 10-1/2 inches. Overall we've added about 16-1/2 inches to the length of the Journey. As you can see even with the bike rack in its stored position, we do have full access to our rear hatch. We will pull the pin at the base of the bike rack folding it down into its loading position, and we'll reinsert the pin to secure it. more

In this position we have about 12" of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of the vehicle is about 6-1/2". Overall we have added about 15-1/2" to the length of our Journey. Pulling the yellow handle at the base of the Saris Axis allows us to tilt the mast away from our vehicle, giving us full access to our rear hatch. We will now use the yellow levers on top of the rack to extend out our dual cradle arms. more

Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow n Go Bike Rack Review - 2014 Dodge Journey- Video
Today on our 2014 Dodge Journey, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow-n-Go hitch three bike rack, part number HR135. For today's test fit, we'll be using the Hidden Hitch ball mount with super extra long shank, part number 80232. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank and ball mount into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll then go ahead and secure it with the pin and clip, which is sold separately. Now, you'll notice with the bike rack and ball mount secured with just a pin and clip, there is some wobble. You can reduce that by purchasing an anti rattle device found on our website. To load up a bike, we'll remove the black pin at the top of the mast, which is going to allow us to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, we can simply undo the cradle straps, place our bike into the frame cradles, then bring the rubber straps around and secure them. With our bike all loaded up, that will complete today's test spin of the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow-n-Go, part number HR135 on our 2014 Dodge Journey. more

Softride Dura Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Dodge Challenger- Video
Today on our 2014 Dodge Challenger, we will be test fitting the Softride Dura Parallelogram, a Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches, part number SR26247. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, we'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, then tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure this with the provided lock. In this position, we have about 7-1/2" of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 1-1/4", and overall we've added about 31-1/2" to the length of the Challenger. The removable cradle arms on the Dura Parallelogram allow for easy storage options. With the arms removed, we only add about 10" to the length of the vehicle. With our arms reinstalled, we're ready for our bike. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 6 3/4 inch and overall we've added about 12 inches to the Challenger. As you can see in this position we do have access to the truck. However pulling the black pin at the base of the rack will allow it to tilt away from our vehicle giving us some extra space. Loosening the black knobs on the outside of our rack will allow us to bring out our dual cradle arms. We will want to secure these by tightening those knobs back down. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Challenger, we will be test fitting the sport rack tilting three bike rack for an inch and a quarter to two inch hitches, part number SR2403. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, then tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we have about seven and three-quarters of an inch of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about six inches and overall, we're adding about seven and a quarter inches to the length of our vehicle. As you can see, with our mast in its upright position, you do have full access to your trunk. However, pulling the black pin at the base of the rack will allow you to tilt the mast away from your vehicle, giving you even more access. With our mast back in the upright position, we'll pull the black pin at the top of the mast. This will allow us to swing out our dual cradle arms. In this position, we have about 24 and a quarter inches that we've added to the rear of the Challenger. Now we'll undo our cradle straps, grab our bike, place our bike in the cradles, and secure it with the straps. more

Today on our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow and Go hitch-mounted 3-bikerack, part number HR135. Today on our 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, well be test fitting the Kuat NV Platform Style Aluminum 2-Bike Rack, part number N101. Well begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. Well thread in our pin and secure the lock in the underside. We can then turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. With the bike rack secured, well go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. Today on our 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, we'll be test fitting the Thule double-track platform-style two-bike carrier for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. Part number TH990XT. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch. Line up the pin hole, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten with a wrench. Now we'll go over a few clearance measurements. We have about sixteen and a half inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of our Dodge Ram is about three inches. We've added about twelve inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll pull the gray lever at the base of the carrier and allow it to unfold. more

There's about 21 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about one inch.With the cradle arms folded down we've added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the gray lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and we'll measure from the tailgate to the end of the cradle arms and we'll get a measurement of about 39 inches.To access the bed of the pickup truck we'll pull the gray lever at the bottom of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our tailgate. more

To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, insert our pin through the pin holes and secure with the lock on the other side.We'll now turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now with the Kuat Sherpa secured to our Dodge Ram we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. With the platform folded up we have about 22 inches of ground clearance.The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 2-1/2 inches. With the platform folded up we've added about 14 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull up on the gold handle to tilt the platform down and with the platform folded down we have about 29 inches of ground clearance and added about 30 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.With the platform folded down we can lower the tailgate and see if the tailgate does come in contact with the bike carrier. more
