Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Today, on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be having a look at and installing the Road Master Brake Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-88400. All right. With our key out of the ignition, when we step on the brake in our vehicle, simulating our towed vehicle braking system pressing down on the pedal, we don't have any brake lights in the vehicle right now, which is a good thing. Otherwise, if we didn't have this brake light relay installed, when our brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights in the vehicle would come on, potentially overriding the RV's turn signals, which would control our towed vehicles turn signals as well when it's hooked up. When we put our key in the ignition and turn it on, we now have functional brake lights on our Jeep. Whenever we're ready to drive our Jeep normally, we don't have to worry about flipping any switches or unplugging anything. The relay takes care of it for us automatically and will have normal brake lights as needed. When our vehicle's in tow-mode and hooked up to the RV, all the functions for the tail lights and brake lights and turn signals will work off of the RV side, so we don't have to worry about the pedal causing our Jeep's brake lights to come on when it's depressed. more

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be installing the Road Master brake light relay kit for towed vehicles. Part number RN-88400. Here's what our brake light relay kit looks like installed. Goes into an existing fuse tap on the vehicle. This will allow you to hook up to a supplemental braking system when you're flat towing your Jeep. That way when the brake pedal is depressed inside the Jeep, you don't have to worry about that overriding the turn signal signal coming from the motor home and you'll only have your brake lights on the back of the Jeep and you don't have your turn signal functioning working properly. With this in place, your brake light switch inside the vehicle does not have any power going to it unless the key is in the on position of the Jeep when you're driving it. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Today, on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to show you how to install the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO. This is a proportional supplemental braking system, it's part number is SM99251. Now, one of the first steps is deciding where our operating unit is going to go. We want this to be away from major heat sources and we want it to be out of direct road spray. If it we're to be going behind a grill where water would be spraying up on it or in a fender well where water would be splashing on it, it's not the best location. What we're going to do with our Cherokee, we're going to mount this right to the top of the fuse panel box here. We're going to use some zip ties. We're going to use the outside edges for mounting so we're not messing up any of the writing inside. more

Today on this 2006 Jeep Liberty, we're going to review and install the Roadmaster Break-Light Relay Kit for towed vehicles, part number RN-88400. We'll go ahead and hook up our jeep to our power supply, in this case it's going to be a truck, this can also be your RV. We'll plug it in and we'll go ahead and turn on the turn signal. If you look at the jeep you can see that we have a turn signal working, being powered by the towing vehicle. Now, as I step on the break peddle, you notice that it goes solid, you don't want this to happen. This is why we need a Roadmaster Break-Light Relay Kit. After we have it installed, this will allow the break system to work with the turn signal as it would normally. Let's go ahead and take a look at the parts that come with the kit. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2016 Jeep Wrangler

Today on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to be showing you how to install the SMI Air Force One. This is a completely proportional, supplemental braking system for motorhomes with air brakes. In this case, we'll be using the 2012 Fleetwood Discovery. Now our Air Force One system is going to be directly tied to our motorhome. This gives us 100 per cent proportional effect on our car. The big thing about the Air Force One is that proportional aspect, so if we lightly apply the brakes in our coach, we're going to have a light stream of air that comes back and activates the brakes in our vehicle. more

Here's what it looks like once it's installed. It's going to be a proportional braking system. It's got an inertia switch that's going to help it activate. The proportional part is going to be as you step on the brakes in your coach, the brakes in your towed vehicle are going to come on with the same intensity that they come on in your coach. You can adjust the aggressiveness by our inertia switch by moving it up or down to how you would like it to operate. Your system's going to stay in place in the car at all times. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Today on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we're going to be taking a look at and installing the SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system for motor homes with air brakes, part number SM99243. Here's what it looks like once it's installed on the vehicle. The Air Force One braking system is a permanent braking system that will be installed in the vehicle for you to flat-tow it behind your motor home. Something that sets this braking system apart from some of the other ones is that, being a permanent braking system, it's always installed on the vehicle. You simply hook it up and as soon as you hook it up it's ready to roll. What this braking system does is as you hit the brakes in your motor home it will activate the brakes in your flat-towed vehicle. As I hit the brakes here inside the coach it's a proportional system, so however much I hit the brakes here it will proportionally match it in the vehicle towed behind. Right here we've got the breakaway stitch. more

When we hook up to our RV and we're ready to tow, what we have to do inside the vehicle is just flip the switch to the on position. When we're unhooked and we're not going to be tow, we're going to drive our vehicle around, just flip to the off position. Now that we have our system all installed and hooked up to our RV, we'll have our assistant press on the brakes of our RV and we can see our system activate. As you can see it works in conjunction and perfect union with the brakes in our motor home. The first thing we want to do is mount our breakaway switch. SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Today, on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Edition, we will be installing our SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System, part number SM99251. The way our SMI Stay-IN-Ply DUO system works, we've got it hooked up to the RV, we have put it in the on position. Now when you're driving 20 miles an hour or less, normal driving, normal braking, this will engage briefly. It'll kick our brakes on briefly to assist with stopping. Now you come across an intersection and you need to stop harder, somebody stops in front of you and you need to slam on your brakes, the system recognizes that, and it does more of our braking for our vehicle automatically, because it recognizes that you need to stop faster and stop harder. This also has a feature to where if you become unhooked from your RV, the breakaway that we have installed up front will engage if the towed vehicle comes off of the RV, or whatever you're towing with, until the pin is replaced. That way, we don't have a runaway vehicle if it does come undone from our RV for any reason. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to review and install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, part number RM-751449. Here's what our brake switch will look like once it's installed. Typically, the additional brake switch or stop light switch is added for vehicles that are being towed. When the vehicle is in recreational, towed mode, the manufacturer's brake switch power is shut off, therefore the secondary brake and stop light switch is added so that it will send signal to the supplemental braking system. When the brake pedal is depressed, the plunger is extended, turning on the switch, supplying power to the green wire or cold side and a signal to the supplemental braking unit. This is a simple switch and it does have an inline fuse holder coming from our positive battery source. To give you an idea, we've got our test light grounded, we touch the cold side with the brake pedal in the resting position, there's no power going to the signal wire. more
