Today on our 2011 Ford F350, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Rage Power Sports motorcycle carrier. This will be part number SMC600. As you can see, we've already got our bike completely mounted up with all of our straps in place, our ramp in place, and looking good on the back of our vehicle. Let's go ahead and talk about how it's secured to the vehicle. On the fronts side here, you're going to have a 2-inch shank going into your 2-inch receiver. Note that this rack does come with your hitch pin and clip as well as a half inch bolt with the bushing around it. more

Today on our 2005 Ford F150 we're test fitting the Curt Folding Cargo Carrier. Part number C18153. Designed to work with 2 inch hitches and has a 500 pound weight capacity on there. So the first thing we're going to do is take a few measurements here. Ground clearance is going to be about 18 and 3 quarter inches there. Overall, to the back of the truck, about 42 inches, and our closest point looks like it's going to be about 16 and a half inches there. Now we do have a good ground clearance here because of this raised shank in the back. That's going to lift that cargo carrier up higher than the ground there. Also go ahead and check out our exhaust, we do have a single passenger side exhaust here. more

The big deal about this carrier, full aluminum construction with the exception of that shank, nice and light weight. Stromberg Carlson  Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2005 Ford F-150

Today, on our 2005 Ford F-150, we're test fitting the Stromberg Carlson 23 by 60 Cargo Carrier, part number CC-100. It's going to be designed to work with 2-inch hitches and have a capacity to hold up to 500 pounds. For the first measurement, we're going to take the ground clearance here. From the bottom of this bolt, we're going to have about 14-1/2 inches in ground clearance here. Overall to the truck, we're adding about 28 inches at the back and our closest point is going to be about 4-1/2 inches there. Now, on our truck, we do have a single passenger side exhaust, but with most trucks, it does come out to the side here, so you shouldn't have to worry about carrying any heat-sensitive materials on your cargo carrier. The last thing we'll check is going to be our hatch clearance, the tailgate overhang. We got about 13-3/4 inches of clearance there, but you're also covering about 13-3/4 inches of the carrier, so just be aware that if you do plan on stacking materials that very high on your carrier that you may come in contact with that tailgate at some point. Now we have a hitch-pinning clip holding in this cargo carrier, but the hitch-pinning clip is not included. more

It does have a two inch folding shank that, once it's collapsed, will tuck against the back side of your vehicle. Again, with that two inch shank, you're only going to be able to attach it to your two inch receiver. It will attach to your two inch receiver using a hitch pin and clip. With its sturdy steel construction and its capability to plug into your 2 inch receiver, it offers a 500 pound weight capacity, as well as a folding shank that you can stow it away, and an anti-tilt/rattle device here on the back end. That's going to make it a lot more sturdy on the back side of the vehicle and not rattle around. So, let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement at about 10 and 1/8 inches. more

First to take the walls down, we're just going to pull these pins - there is one at each corner, we're just going to pull them out. We're first going to lay down our smaller sides here. You may have to wiggle the larger sides around a little bit just to squeeze the smaller sides in. more

Today, on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT cargo carrier. This CURT cargo carrier is going to be part number C18151. It's going to measure 20 inches wide, 60 inches long, and with it's sturdy steel construction it's going to have a 500lb weight capacity. Now the nice thing about this cargo carrier is it is going to have to have that folding shank that will allow you to tuck it up against the back of the vehicle when you don't have it in use, and it's ability to plug into your 2 inch receivers using that 2 inch shank, so you can carry those higher weight capacities. All right, if you will notice down there where it is attached to our receiver, where the shank attaches to the receiver we're going to have a hitch pin and clip. Now, the hitch pin and clip is not going to be included, and if you would like to obtain one you can get it on our website, part number pc3. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance from the the back side of the bumper to the front side of the rack, at about 11 and five eights inches. Over all distance that we've added to the vehicle, about 32 and half inches. more

As you can see, we've got a stamped out style expanded steel floor, so that's going to give us plenty of room for dirt, debris, and stuff like that to fall down through, but still offers a fairly smooth surface if we're putting more delicate items on it. Overall, this carrier is going to add about 26 inches to the back of our Edge. more

Part number on it is C18151. As you can see we've got a nice heavy duty carrier here, it's got the expanded steel type platform in it, or base in it. It gives us plenty of room for that water, dirt, debris and stuff like that to fall right down and out. We've also got a raised edge of about 5-1/2 inches that's going to go all the way around the outside. Not only will that give us good front to back and side to side load stability, but it's also going to offer us some good connection points all the way around there so we can get that load secure. We're going to have about 12-1/4 inches worth of ground clearance there at the very rear. more

Raise the edge here on the side, that's about 5 and a half inches, that's going to give us good load stability. Also the connection points here, all throw a lots of spots first to hook our straps on and make a nice sturdy load or make our load nice and sturdy and secure. more

Plenty of area for that dirt and stuff to fall out, but still gives us a nice smooth surface. It doesn't have those cutting edges you get out of the typical expanded steel. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we are test fitting the Let Go Aero GearCage, part number HCR222. This cargo carrier has the dimensions of 48 x 32, with a capacity to hold up to 300 pounds. As you can see, this has a nice solid floor here which is going to keep any dirt and debris from flying up onto your material that you have in the carrier. This also means that if do carry anything that has dirt on it, it's not going to fall off on the side. First we are going to take some measurements here. If you come right up under here, you are going to see this bottom post. At the back of the hitch, it's going to be about 10 inches here to the ground. more

They've designed it for use in 2 inch hitches, and it offers us a 300 pound weight capacity. The part number on it is HCR222. You can see the GearCage, kind of opposed to some of the other carriers, is going to have a nice solid floor, so even real small things, we're not going to have to worry about those passing down and through. We're going to have about a 7 inch raised rail that's going to go all the way around. more

This cargo carrier has a capacity to hold up to 500 pounds, just be aware of that, and also be aware that you have to check your owners manual to make sure your vehicle can carry that itself. The first thing we're going to going to do, is we're going to take some measurements on this carrier. We're going to do ground clearance first, it's going to be about 14 inches there. Today on our 2012 Ford Flex we've got the Detail K2 Folding Cargo Carrier that we're test fitting. This is a 20x60 by carrier that's been designed for use in 2" hitches, and it has a 500-pound weight capacity. The part number on it is K2HCC602. Like a lot of carriers, we're going to have that expanded, steel mesh floor here on the bottom, let's all that dirt, debris, water, moisture, stuff like that fall down and out. It's going to give us a nice platform for all of our goods and stuff to ride on. We've got about 5-1/2" worth of ground clearance on our rail that's going to run all the way around that gives us good front-to-back and side-to-side load stability and also offers quite a few connection points around here for our bungees or straps or whatever we plan on securing our load with. You'll notice little movement and a little play in the carrier. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we're test fitting the Detail K2 20x60 folding cargo carrier. Now this has a capacity of up to 500 pounds and it's designed to work with 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is K2HCC602. You see we've got a nice, raised edge that's going to go all the way around our carrier here. It's about 5 1/2 inches off our platform, so it gives us good side to side and front to back stability. We're also going to have good connection points all the way around for any straps that we might want to put on. The platform itself is a stamped out style of expanded steel. We don't have the rough edges as we move our hand across it, but we still get plenty of areas for dirt and debris and stuff like that to fall right out. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Escape we're going to be doing a test fit of the detail K2 cargo carrier. This cargo carriers going to measure 20inches wide, 60 inches long and with its sturdy steal construction it's going to offer a 500lb weight capacity. The unique thing about this is it will have that 2 inch shank for your 2 inch receivers only, as well as it folds up and stows against the back end of the vehicle so you don't have it hanging off the back side when it's not in use. Do keep in mind though that the hitch pin and clip down here are not included to attach it to your 2 inch receiver, so if you'd like to obtain that you can get it on our website part number PC3. This is going to be part number K2HTC602. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements, our closest distance when it's out in the platform position is going to be about 11 3/4 inches and our overall distance at about 32 5/8 inches, ground clearance is about 10 3/4 inches. Let's go ahead and get our exhaust clearance next encase your going to be carrying anything that's going to be heat sensitive or perishable. more

Now this Cargo Carrier is going to be designed for attaching to the back side of two bike racks part number HR1400 and part number HR1450 the Sport Rider SE and SE2 models. This is going to be part number HR1485. When its standing alone in your 2 inch receiver its going to have a 200 pound weight capacity with this sturdy steel construction. Now, this cargo carrier is going to be 21 inches wide, 55 inches long, and with its sturdy, steel construction, it's going to offer a 300-pound weight capacity. Now, do keep in mind that this rack does come with your inch and a quarter shank, but it will only be acceptable to use with your class 2 receivers.
