Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now, the OnRamp is an e-bike rack that's going to hold up to 66 pounds per bike and with an off-road capacity or an RV rating of 40 pounds per bike. It's gonna hold the bike really well. You've got the clamp, the cradle up top, holding that tube, keeping it upright, and the two straps on each wheel holding that down in place as well. It is a tray-style design, so if you do have two bikes of similar sizes you could kind of rotate them, lean them, not lean them but set them offset from each other so you don't have any sort of seat handlebar conflict which I really like. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Toyota 4Runner- Video

Hi everyone, Aiden here with each etrailer.com. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 2 Bike Rack here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now, this is a nice entry-level platform-style bike rack. It's going to hold the bike down here at each wheel with these rationing straps and with this clamp up on the center mast These two operate independently, so if you have two bikes where you have to have the clamp set at the same height, it's not gonna conflict with each other, which I really like. That's a big sticking point for some racks that have this style of attachment. They do also rotate 360 degrees to accommodate for those different style frames. more

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Transfer V2 Platform Style Bike Rack here on our 2018 Toyota Highlander. Now, this bike rack can hold two bikes, and it's gonna hold it at the pivoting wheel cradle at the back here, and at this wheel hook on the front, which means zero frame contact. That's gonna make it good for our carbon frame bikes, our alternative frame bikes, and with a 40 pound capacity, you're not gonna want to work with any sort of e-bikes probably, so just watch out for that. Now, this does have the option to tilt away with the bikes loaded and to do that, I'm actually gonna pull this other arm up just to give me easy access to the foot pedal here. It's a really unique way of tilting down. more

I like that these two clamps operate independently of each other. So if we have to set them at the exact same height, we can because they're completely independent, they can go up, down, rotate 360 degrees and adjust to fit your bikes. more

It's gonna make it really nice for our carbon frame bikes, we don't have to worry about damaging that tube; alternative frame bikes, because we're not relying on that tube for any sort of contact; and with a 60-pound weight capacity, it's even going to be good for some of our e-bikes with that battery removed. If you are planning on taking this off road it does have an off road weight capacity of 36 pounds per bike. So just keep that in mind. more

Now, the way this is going to hold the bikes is by this frame hook right here. So, right away, I'd want to advise you against using this with your carbon frame bikes. It's gonna damage the frame because of how much pressure this hook is putting down on top of that tube. And with any sort of alternative frame bikes or kids' bikes, you do probably wanna pick up a bike adapter bar to make sure you get a good solid hold on top of it. more

So the Ridgeback is known as a hanging style bike rack and there's two main types. Hanging style and we have the platform style. Now the hanging style are great because they're typically more cost effective than the platform style. And they're also typically a little bit lighter weight so they're easier to get on and off the vehicle. The platform style however, they're gonna be easier to load your bikes onto because you don't have to lift as high and they can carry some heavier bikes. more

It is gonna limit us to 35 pounds per bike. And we do wanna make sure we don't get those longer mountain bikes just because the wheel base has a max of 48 inches. And when it comes to the fat tire bikes, if they are under 35 pounds we're still not gonna be able to put them on here because our cradles right here are going to limit us to three inches per bike. more

So the Destination 4 is probably one of my favorite entry-level platform racks with the ability to carry around a lot of bikes without having to spend a lot of money. Now, you don't have the same premium features like you would get from the other premium racks, but I still think it evens out because you have better stability that a platform rack gives you and an improvement from a hanging rack. Yakima StageTwo 4 Bike Rack Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Yakima stage two bike rack on the 2017 Toyota RAV4. So this is your front wheel mount platform style bike rack that's gonna let you carry up to four bikes but a quick thing to note before we talk about the features that make this premium choice is that the hitch has a weight rating and your vehicle has a weight rating so make sure you don't exceed the lower of the two. The closest two trays will let you carry up to 60 pounds per bike. And the further two will let you carry 40 pounds per bike. For our 2017 RAV4, we are going to be able to carry 37 and a half pounds per bike so that we don't exceed that limit. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the Swagman E-Spec bike rack on a 2017 Toyota RAV4. So, this is your fixed platform style bike rack that is great for carrying those heavy electric bikes. You can carry up to 70 pounds per bike on this thing. If you have a carbon frame style bike, this probably wouldn't be a great choice for you, since we are being held on by the center frame here. We have three attachment points, the center frame out and two tire straps, one on each side. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Toyota RAV4- Video

Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Hollywood Sport Rider SE Bike Rack on a 2017 Toyota-RAV4. This is your platform-style bike rack, that's gonna let you carry up to 50 pounds per bike. The carrier itself is about 92 pounds, so if we max this out, we'd be looking about 300 pounds. Your hitch is gonna have its max capacity, and so is your vehicle. Make sure you do not exceed the lower of those two numbers. It is gonna be made out of a steel construction, so it's gonna make it very durable. more
