Rob: Hey everybody, Rob 00:00:00 here at etrailer.com. And today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima TwoTimer platform-style bike rack, on our 2019 Subaru Outback wagon. Now our Yakima is going to allow us to carry up to two bikes, to and from the trail. But it's also going to alleviate the problem of having to put our bikes on top of our roof, which if you're a little bit on the shorter side like I am, I really don't like roof rack systems because me having to lift my bike up over my head, I just get worried that I might scratch my car. Not to mention having it on the back of your car is just going to make it easier, not have to lift it up, and we're going to save some space from trying to cram it into the back of our wagon here.But our bike is going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two wheel-cradles, there are some straps to hold it down. more

Hi everyone, Adam, with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule hitching post Pro on our 2017 Subaru Crosstrek. So, this is going to be a hanging style rack that holds up to four bikes, with three tie-down points per bike. We're going to have two here up top and an anti-sway cradle down at the bottom, and what that's going to do, it's going to help limit that bike-to-bike contact that you get when you're going down the road. It is pretty easy to get this bike off the rack, so let's just go ahead and do that now. It does have a soft, durable, rubber strap that's going to last a long time and protect the top of your bike frame. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Crosstrek- Video
How's it going Ryan here at etrader.com. Today on our 2017 Subaru Cross Crosstrek we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro 2 bike rack. Obviously with the rack in this position, you wouldn't have much luck getting in and out of the hatch. What we can do is come down here, flip this lever, and tilt the rack out of the way, then we'll have more than enough room to get all of our gear in and out of our hatch.Now this rack can hold up to two bikes, however if you need to carry an extra one, there is a three bike version available as well. Now the bike is held down at three points. We're going to have two straps here on the top two, and one strap down here. more

Hey everyone, Collin here at Etrailer. Today we have in here a 2019 Subaru Forester, and we're going to do a test fit of the Rocky Mount split rail LS, three bike rack. Now this is a platform style rack that mounts to the hitch receiver of your Forester. It's going to allow you to load up to three bikes and get them to and from your destination. One of the really cool features about this is that if you do have the option to remove this rear cradle, inaudible 00:00:27 rear tray right here, basically how your bike rack is going to come is that it's going to be a split rail LS, two bike rack with this foot rail, add on to make it into three bikes. So if you wanted to take this on off, a common example will be, if you want to carry an e-bike on here, well you will only be able to do thatIf you have this piece removed. more

And we're going to do a test fit of the Thule Hitching Post Pro four bike rack.Now this is a hanging style bike rack. It's going to mount to the hitch receiver of your Subaru and it's going to allow you to transport up to four bikes to and from your destination.It's going to hold each bike by your top tube and it's going to have three points where it secures. Two of those points are going to be on the top tube with these thick rubber straps securing it into the cradles. The third point is going to be this thick rubber strap securing the seat post tube into the anti-sway cradle, which just helps take out a lot of the unnecessary movement.Now let's go ahead and remove the bike. more

Colin: Hey, everyone. I'm Colin here at eTrailer.So we have a 2014 Subaru Outback, and we're going to do a test fit of the Saris SuperClamp EX two-bike platform-style rack. This is a platform rack that allows you to transport two bikes, to and from your destination.Now you don't see too many bikes out there that have four points of contact for the bike, so it's got a very good hold on the bike. You can literally hardly move it at all.The bonus of this is that there's no frame contact, so you don't have to worry about any type of scratches or abrasions occurring on the nice frame of your bike.Now, the four points of contact, we're going to have two of them. We're going to have one on top of the back wheel, another one on top of the front wheel, because the hooks are putting downward force on top of the wheels, forcing them down into the cradles.The other two points of contact are going to be the straps that are securing the bottom of our wheels into the cradles. Again, those four points of contact are just going to do a great job of making sure the bike does not go anywhere.Now, if the bike rack is fully loaded, and you need to gain access to the trunk, you can do so by tilting it away from the vehicle. more

So here we have a 2019 Subaru Ascent, and we're going to do a test fit of the Thule Apex XT 4-bike rack.Now, this is a hanging-style rack that allows you to carry four bikes to and from your destination. The hanging-style rack is going to give you a bit more ground clearance when it comes to transporting your bikes on platforms, where they sit lower right here. Your ground clearance is going to be up here when the bike rack is empty. Even when you have bikes loaded, your bikes are going to be saying a lot higher than that.It's going to have an onboard-cable lock, which comes from the base of the rack, comes up from the mask right there. You can bring it across all of your bikes, and then it goes into that slot right there. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Ascent- Video
Hey everyone. Today, we have a 2019 Subaru ascent, and we're going to do a test fit of the Hollywood Racks Destination four bike platform rack. This platform rack is a great way to transport four bikes to and from the trails or wherever else you need to take them. What's really nice about this is that we have a really high ground clearance because it has a slightly angled up platform when it gets to the back. So our ground clearance is going to be much improved when compared to a lot of other bike racks out there. And given that on the ascent, the hitch does sit higher than most. more

Today on our 2019 Subaru Forester, we're going to be installing Kuat's NV 2.0 Two-Bike Platform Rack. This is a premium two-bike platform rack that's going to be ideal if you have carbon fiber because there's no frame contact. If you have frame contact, that could potentially damage your carbon fiber bikes, so by clamping it here on the wheel, we keep our frame nice and safe.One of the great things about this bike rack is its tilt feature. There's a lever located here that you can pull to lower the rack down, giving you access to your tailgate. This is nice if you have things in the trunk that you need to access. You can get to those without having to take your bike all the way off. more

I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like on your Subaru and how it's going to hold our bikes.I did say it's a four-bike rack, but this can also be converted down to a two-bike rack, and you can also take off the two-bike extension and put on a cargo carrier. This bike rack has a ton of options. As I said, it can be converted down to that two-bike rack. If we're not carrying all of these bikes, we can take off that extra weight, we're going to have more clearance off the back, and just carry our two bikes, or our two bikes and some cargo. more

Today on our 2019 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Tooly T2 pro XTB platform style two bike rack. That's part number TH9034XT. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it looks on our Subaru Outback. It holds our bikes by their front tire, so we have zero frame contact. This is a nice feature when we're carrying those carbon fiber bikes or bikes we don't want any abrasions or scratches done to that top tube. You can see here how it's going to push down on that tire right in front of our brakes or our fork, whatever comes first, into that large front cradle. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon NV22B- Video
Today, in our 2019 Subaru Outback, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack which is part number NV-22B.This is a very high quality bike rack that's going to do a great job of securing your bikes with no frame contact and getting you from point A to point B wherever you need to go.The first feature I want to point out right away, which a lot of platform style racks have, is that it can tilt away from the vehicle so you can gain access to your trunk.There's a handle right here, we're going to pull down on and it just tilts away. Now we can just slide in here and open up our trunk. Doesn't even come close to making contact with our bike and we've got plenty of space to get in here and get whatever gear, cargo or even groceries that we might have in there.Now, to tilt it back up, you've just got to reverse the process. We're just going to grab a hold of the bike rack down in here, just tilt it up until it locks into place.Another cool feature is that we have a cable lock integrated in the back wheel platform right here. You will just wrap around either the wheel or the frame of the bike and it locks into itself like this. Just locks into itself, you get a key that's key to like for both of the cable locks and it's a great security feature so that no one can remove your bike without that key.Now, the bike itself is held in at two different points of contact. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon HR200Z- Video
Today our 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon. We're going to be doing a test within the Hollywood racks trail rider platform style two bike rack, that's part number HR200Z. Now this bike rack, I've already got it loaded up on our Subaru just to give you a good idea what it looks like on a bike loaded up to it so you can see how it's going to hold our bikes.Now, it holds two bikes with the top tube here, the rubber coated frame hook puts down pressure on that top tube into the cradles, not the bad way to carry two bikes. You can see I'm giving it a little bit of a shake here and there's not a whole lot of movement. So again it's going to be a safe way to transport our two bikes.Now this bike rack doesn't have all the bells and whistles but that's okay because it's extremely easy to use. Now it also doesn't tilt away like most platform style bike racks, instead it has a unique way for loading and unloading your bikes, but we'll get to that in a second. more

Obviously the one that sticks out to you right away is that we have a cargo carrier attached to the end of our bike rack. This is very convenient for times where maybe you want to haul all your dirty gear after a long bike ride, and it's outside of your vehicle, or if you just have more gear to travel with than what you can fit in your vehicle.The bike rack has three different points where it's secured. We have a hook and loop strap on the back wheel and the front wheel, and then we have this padded frame hook putting down force on top of the bike frame, forcing it into the wheel trace. The padding is gonna help protect your bike frame for any type of scratches or abrasions. Now one really cool feature is that we can tilt this away from the vehicle to gain access to our trunk. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Forester, we're gonna be testing the Yakima Ridgeback two bike rack, and that's gonna be part number Y zero two four five seven. As you can see, we do have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of these features.Now if we start here on the ends of our arms, we are gonna have two bottle openers that Yakima loves to put on their bike racks. If we look closer at these cradles, we're gonna see they are stationary, however they make up for having these nice rubber TPE padding. Now what that means is these notches right here are gonna act as shock absorbers for your bike frame while you're traveling.The bike's gonna be secured at three different points of contact. Were gonna have two zip strips securing the frame of our bike into these cradles. Then we're gonna have this anti-raddle cradle and, once we have a zip strip securing the frame into the cradle, that's gonna prevent too much raddling or swaying while we're driving, preventing our bike from making contact with the vehicle or with another bike we might have installed.I want to point out up here, if you look at your front wheel, we're gonna see it can kind of roam freely as it wills. more

Now like a lot of platform style racks, this one can tilt away from your vehicle to provide you with rear hatch access. We're gonna come to this blue T pin that's under the bike rack, we're going to pull it and then just let it tilt away. Once we do that, we can go ahead and open up our hatch. Once that opens up, as you can see you do have a good amount of room. more

Yakima Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Forester- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Forester, we're going to be testing the Yakima Fourtimer four bike platform rack, that's going to be part number Y02469.As you can see, we do have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look at some of these features. Now, like a lot of platform style racks, this one can tilt away from your vehicle to provide you with rear hatch access. How we're going to do that is we're going to come and pull this gray pin right here. You might need to lift the bike rack up just a bit, and wiggle it out like so. From there, we're going to pull the red pin and then your bike rack can tilt away like so. As you can see, our hatch can open.It comes close to making contact with that handle bar, but it doesn't quite do it, so you're all good right there. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Forester- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Forester, we're going to be test fitting the Inno Aero Light 4 Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, Part number INH640.As you can see, we do have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of these features. Now starting first, we're gonna have this integrated cable lock system. It comes from the base of the bike rack and it inserts into that lock right there. When you want to remove the cable, you will get a set of keys with your bike rack, you would simply just slide up this tab right here, you have your insert for your key, you can unlock you cable, and unload your bikes.Our cradles right here are gonna be able to pivot left and right, like so, and also move up and down the bike rack to accommodate any size bike frame you might have or any spacing between the bikes you might want. That being said, our bike has three different points where it's secured to the bike rack. We have two of these straps on the top of our bike frame, securing it into the cradles. more

Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features.Starting at the end and working our way inward, at the very end of our first arm here, you can see we have this locking point along with a place for a key. This is what's going to hold the integrated cable lock so when all four bikes are installed, this wraps around all of them and attaches to this point here to offer some security for your four bikes as you travel. It does come with a set of two keys for this.Moving onto the cradles, we are going to have these padded ends here where the frame's going to rest in place. You can see that that's going to provide a nice point here to help protect your frame once you install it. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek INH620- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Subaru XP Crosstrek, we're going to be test-fitting the Inno Aero Light 2 Bike Rack, part number INH620.We already have a bike installed on the rack, so we're going to take a closer look and show off some of the features. This of course can carry up to 2 bikes. The cradles can be moved back and forth, as needed, to assist you with loading and unloading, and there is a padding on the cradles to make sure that the frame of your bike doesn't get damaged once it's installed.It holds your bike at 3 points. We'll have 2 strips up at the top, as well as one off to the side, and that's going to serve as anti-sway cradle to keep your bike from moving too far back and forth and causing bike to bike contact.Now with these anti-sway cradles, they can be pushed up out of the way, and this is going to make loading and unloading much easier, but when you fold the arms down you're going to want these folded all the way out, and we'll get to that in a second.Also, moving forward here, we do have an integrated cable lock that'll wrap around both the frames of your bike and attach to this point here and lock into place. It comes with a set of 2 keys to do so.Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that, there are tabs on both sides of the strip here, just push them in at the same time and these come right out. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Quad 2 plus 2 two bike and four bike platform rack for two inch hitches. This is going to be part number S64692.We already have a bike installed on this rack, and while this is rated for both motor homes and vehicles this means you can take it on the vehicle you may be towing behind your RV as well as the back of your RV as well. Plus, it has another interesting feature about it is when you see it in the four bike version here by removing a screw up at the front here you can take this rear portion out and convert this to a two bike version if need be. How it holds the bike into place, we're going to have three points of contact. At both tires we're going to have these straps, and then up at the top here we're going to have this padded frame hook. When it's padded it's going to make sure that the frame of your bike doesn't get scratched or damaged once this is being installed. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 1 Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4 and 2" Hitches, part number RKY10007.We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. This carries up to one bike, and like most platform-style racks, this does tilt away from the vehicle so we can gain better hatch access. You can see there's no issue of clearance between the bike and the hatch itself, and there's plenty of space between the bike rack and the bumper to get what you need.To put the bike rack back in its original position, just push up on the bike rack itself until you hear it click. It does come with an anti-theft cable here to wrap around the bike's frame, and it attaches to the bike rack itself here with the included lock, and this is keyed alike with the hitch lock, which we'll get to a little bit later. Let's go ahead and take that off. more

Speaker 1: Today we're on our 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're gonna be test fitting the Rocky Mounts Monorail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack for inch, and a quarter inch two inch hitches, part number RKY10007-05.We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go and take a closer look here. And one of the more interesting things about this bike rack is you can split it up into a single bike rack by removing the two screws on either side here and pulling this back section out. Like with the other platform style racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes attached to gain rear hatch access, although the handle is pretty far forward here, so if you had two bikes on here, it might be a little difficult to do this on your own. You may need an extra set of hands, but for today's purposes, you can just pull towards us and let the bike rack come down holding onto the bike rack.Now you can see, we have plenty of space in between the bike and the hatch itself and we have enough space in between the bike rack and the bumper to get what we need as well.To put it back in it's original position, you simply lift up on the bike rack itself until you hear that click. It does come with an anti-theft cable here that you wrap around the frame of your bike and it gets attached to a point just underneath the front platform here and there is a lock that comes with that and it is key to like with the hitch lock which we'll get to a little bit later.So, let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll grab our key here for the lock, remove our cable. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. This is a pretty unique two-bike rack. This can tilt away like most bike racks with both bikes still attached, and also, you can remove this back section here by removing the two bolts on either side. It does come with the tools to do this, and convert this to a one-bike rack as well.This can fit a wide variety of bikes, such as the Fat bike that you see here, and it comes with a strap extension to do so. This will also fit mountain bikes, road bikes, alternate frame bikes, and kids' bikes, and you don't have to worry about any bike adapter bars or the protection of your carbon frame bikes, because this grips it by the tire, therefore there's no frame contact at all.To tilt this away from the vehicle, there's a latch up at the front here. more

Also, unlike most of the other single bike racks out there, this can tilt away from the vehicle with a bike attached to get rear hatch access. The others either just fold up or are stationary. So, you go out and come to the front here to this blue handle, pull out slightly, let it come down, and now we have full hatch access to get what we need and more than enough space in between the bike rack and the bumper itself to do so. To put it back in position, you push up on the bike rack, never the bike, until you hear that click.How the bike is held into place: We're going to have two points of contact. more

Lets Go Aero Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek- Video
Speaker 1: Today, on our 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek, we're going to be testing the Elliptical Aero BikeWing, T4 4-bike rack for two-inch hitches, part number B01458. We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here.This is designed for up to four bikes, has a carry capacity of 160 pounds, so that, roughly, is going to be about 40 pounds per bike, give or take. This can hold road bikes like you see here, but it can also fit alternate frame bikes, kids bikes, mountain bikes, and fat bikes, and with an adapter, excuse me, that is sold separately.Now, the big advantage to this is how it grips the bike itself. It's going to have these two points of contact here, or really, four points of contact, with these straps, and once those are attached, they're going to stay in place. But the big advantage is, no bike adapter bar is going to be necessary with this installation process, as you would get with a lot of other platform-style racks on the market.Also, we do have this padding here, that is adjustable up and down, the arms here, to help protect the frame of your bike to make sure no scratches or abrasions get to it. more
