Today on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakama FullTilt. This is going to be our hanging style, four bike rack, part number Y02462. As you can see, we've already got a bike in place so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and installed on the back of your Jeep. Let's go ahead and start by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be down here on the bottom side from this point here to the back side of the bumper. We're about 5 and a half inches but do note that it won't come in any further because of the bracket and piece on the side of the shank down here. This does come with your inch and a quarter shank as well as a 2-inch adapter so will be good for your class 1, 2 and 3 hitches. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're test fitting the Thule Vertex Swing. This is a swing-away-style 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with 2" hitches. Part number on it is TH9031XT. Now first and foremost, the reason we like the swing-away so much, the swing-away arm that we have here is going to allow us to swing this out and away from the vehicle. To do that, loosen the large black t-handle until it tips down just like that. more

This does come with your 1-1/4" shank as well as your 2" adapter, so it will be good for your Class I, II, and III hitches. Just keep in mind, with your Class I receivers for your 1-1/4" that you're only going to be able to carry up to 2 bikes because of your hitch's specifications and weight classifications. It's going to have a 2" shank that's going to attach to your 2" receiver via an anti-rattle bolt as well. Let's go ahead and start with a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be from your wheel cradles here to the backside of the bumper at about 6-1/4". Overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle is going to be about 42", and our rear ground clearance at about 21-1/2" at this point and about 15-1/2" at that point. more

Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle will be from the rear of the bumper to the backside of the cradle arms that are extended out here at about 33". Our closest distance will be our first measurement from the back side of our bumper to the front side of this T-handle here, at about 5-1/8 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle will be from the rear of the bumper to the back side of the cradle arms here, at about 35-1/2 inches, and our ground clearance from the bottom side, at about 13 inches from the bottom side of the shank here. This is going to have your inch and a quarter shank as well as a two-inch adapter for your class I, II, and III hitches. With your class I hitch, you're only going to be able to carry two bikes and that's going to be with your hitch restrictions. Now down below we'll start off by getting a few measurements. That's going to be from the back side of the bumper to the front side of this flange here at about three inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be from that rear bumper again to the back side of the cradle arms at about thirty-four and a half inches. more

This bike rack is going to come with a 2 inch shank for your 2 inch receivers only and be attached using a hitch pin and clip. We'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement, and that's going to be from that front angled bracket on the front of the rack to the back side of the receiver at about 9 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle will be from the back side of the bumper to the back side of the cradles at about 37 and 1/4 inches, with our rear ground clearance being that of about 19 inches. As you can see it is going to be attached with our 1 1/4 shank with our 2 inch adapter anti rattle bolt and a lock to prevent tampering. That anti rattle bolt is going to be a 3/4 inch anti rattle bolt, your 1 1/4 shank with your 2 inch adapter will make it compatible with your class 1, 2, 3 hitches. Let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be from the wheel cradle on either side to the back side of the bumper at about 11 inches. Overall distance that we've added will be from the back of the bumper to the back side of the cradle arms at about 21 inches and our rear ground clearance will be two measurements, one at 19 3/4 inches to the very back and from the bottom side of the shank at about 13 1/8 inches. more

Now note that this does come with your 1-1/4" shank with a 2" adapter, so it will fit your class I, II, and III receivers. Now let's start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest measurement is going to be from the t-handle here on the front to the backside of the bumper at about 3-5/8". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle will be from the rear of the bumper to the backside of the cradle arms at about 33", and our ground clearance at about 12-5/8" to the bottom side of the shank here. Next let's talk about how the bike is secured to our rack. You're going to have a lower hanging strap on every other side, or as you can see here, triangular cradles with two straps or one straps. This one straps is going to be your frame strap over the top. more

This is for 2 inch hitches so we can go ahead and start by inserting our shank into our receiver. We want our pin holes to be lined up. All right once we've get that lined up, we'll go ahead and take our anti-rattle bolt and pin, go ahead and start threading that through. All right and then we can finish that off with our wrench and by tightening this it's going to help reduce the play and rattle within our hitch and our bike rack and put our clip in. We can take a few measurements. Starting with our nearest point, it's going to be about 11 1/2 inches from here to our bumper. more

Saris Freedom SuperClamp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we are going to be test fitting the Saris Freedom Super Clamp platform style 2 bike rack, that is part number SA4025 and this bike rack is suited for 1 1/4 as well as 2 inch hitches. To begin, we are going to place the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch until our pin holes are aligned and once they are, we can begin threading in our anti rattle bolt. Once that is hand tightened, we can finish tightening that with our wrench. Give it a shake test to ensure there is no movement within the hitch and then place your clip on the other side and then we are ready to do some measurements. We are going to start by checking ground clearance. With this bike rack offers about 18 1/2 inches of ground clearance. We are going to check the position of the bike rack to the nearest point of the vehicle which is the rear bumper and the nearest point of this bike rack is going to be about 14 1/2 inches from the rear bumper. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to do a test fit on the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a tilting and a folding 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. We will now go ahead and remove the black pin at the top of the mast, which is going to allow us to swing the cradle arms of the bike rack out. more

Today on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be test-fitting the Saris Freedom Platform-Style Hitch-Mounted Four-Bike Rack, part number SA 4414B. We'll begin our test-fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it down with a wrench, and then securing with the cotter pin on the other side. With the bike rack secure, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about sixteen inches of ground clearance at the back of the bike rack. The closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about four inches away, and we've added about seventeen inches to the overall length of our Jeep. We'll now go ahead and pull on the gray lever at the top of the platform, which will allow us to tilt the platform down. As you can see with the rack in this position, we do have full access to the rear hatch. We have about twenty-three and a half inches of ground clearance at the back of the bike rack. more

Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow n Go Bike Rack Review - 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Today on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow 'N Go 3-bike rack, part number HR135. We'll be using the Hidden Hitch ball mount with an extra long shank, part number 80232. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch and securing it with the pin and clip. Keep in mind, the ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip are all sold separately. Now, since the ball mount is secured with a standard 5-inch hitch pin and clip, you can see that there is going to be some rattle within the hitch. You can eliminate this rattle by purchasing an anti-rattle device found on our website. Now, to load up a bike, we'll go ahead and remove the block pin at the top of the mast, which is going to allow us to swing the cradle arms of the bike rack outward. We'll now go ahead and undo the cradle straps, place our bike into the frame cradles, and then secure it with the rubber straps. With our bike all loaded up, that'll complete today's test fit of the Hollywood Racks Traveler Tow 'N Go, part number HR135, on our 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. . more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pinholes we'll thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and then tighten it down using a wrench. With the bike rack secure, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 6 inches away and we have added about 14 inches to the overall length of our jeep. We'll now go ahead and lift up on the yellow levers at the top of the mast, which will allow us to slide the cradle arms over into the smooth portion and bring them up, lining up the grooves, and then clamp down the yellow levers, which is going to secure the arms in place. With the cradle arms out, we've added about 24 inches to the overall length of our Grand Cherokee. To access the cargo area, we'll pull out on the yellow t-handle, located at the base of the bike rack, which will allow us to tilt the mast of the rack down, giving us full access to the rear hatch. To load up a bike, we'll need to make sure the mast of the rack is in its upright position. We'll then undo the ratcheting straps, and place our bike into the frame cradles. more

We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the opening of the hitch. After lining up the pin holes, we'll insert the pin into the pin holes and secure with a lock on the other side. We'll then go ahead and turn the black knob at the back of the shank, which will engage the anti-rattle device. With the bike rack secured, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. With the bike rack in this position, we have about fourteen and a half inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about three inches away. We have added about fifteen and a half inches to the overall length of our jeep. We'll now go ahead and lift up on the orange lever at the base of the bike rack, which is going to allow us to tilt the platform down. With the platform in this position, we have about twenty-two inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about seven inches away. We've added about thirty-three inches to the overall length of our Grand Cherokee. As you can see, the platform in this position we can easily access the rear hatch. more

Today, on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be test fitting the Hollywood Rack Traveler Five-Bike Carrier, Part Number HR9200.To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line-up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench.Now that our Hollywood Rack Traveler is secured to our Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 11-1/2 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Grand Cherokee is here at the rear bumper about 13 inches away. We've added about 17 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now undo the black knobs from the left and right-hand side of the mast towards the top to swing out our cradle arms. We'll then turn the knobs to lock the arms in place, and we have about 39 inches of overall length added to the vehicle with the cradle arms out.To access the cargo area, we'll pull the pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our vehicle's cargo door.To load the bike, we'll make sure the mast is in its upright position. more
