Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Ford Flex

Speaker 1: Today on our 2019 Ford Flex, we're going to be installing Curt's T-Connect 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number C56343.This four-pole flat trailer connector harness is going to provide you with all the necessarily lighting that you'll need for your trailer. This includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps. It has a control module that taps into both the driver's and passenger's side tail lamp assemblies, so it can monitor the signals going to those tail lights and send the signals to your trailer. What's nice about this is this module has its own dedicated power circuit, so it doesn't use any of the power going to your vehicle's tail lights. So that way if there's any fault on your trailer, it'll only open the fuse going to this control module on your new harness, and not any of the fuses on your vehicle, protecting all the wiring on your vehicle. On the end of your harness you'll have a dust cap. This'll help keep out any dirt, debris, and moisture, ensuring a long lasting connection. Additionally you can use it to keep the wiring up off the ground by connecting it to your safety chain loop when not in use. We'll begin our installation at the rear of the vehicle with our lift gate open. more

And with that spring loaded door it's going to keep all the dirt, moisture and debris outside of the connector to help prevent any kind of corrosion build up. And our 7-way connector is going to give us all the function that we need so we can get down the road safely and make sure that everything is working on the trailer end.As far as the installation goes, it is going to be relatively straight forward. more

Speaker 1: Today, in our 2015 Ford Transit T250, we're going to be installing Curt's T-connector vehicle wiring harness, part number C56327. This four pole flat trailer connector is going to provide you with all the necessary lighting that you'll need for your trailer. This includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps, so you'll be DOT compliant in all states. This harness is typically going to live inside of your vehicle. When you're ready to use it, simply pull it out of its storage location, drape it over the back, and it'll pinch in place between your weather stripping. That'll hold it in place so you can hook it up to your trailer, and on the end here, it does include a dust cap so when you're not using it and it's outside, you can simply put that on and that'll help keep out any dirt, debris and moisture, insuring a long-lasting connection.Additionally, you can use your dust cap to secure it to your hitch through one of the safety chain loops, and this will help keep it from dangling down and flopping around when driving down the road, and when you're done using it, you can simply wrap it up and store it inside of your compartment or anywhere else you want out of the way. Additionally, that dust cap, what I like about it is that you can use it to wrap around your wiring, and that'll help keep everything nice and bundled. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ford Fusion, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number C56351. So, here's what our wiring's gonna look like once we have it installed. Now, this is gonna provide us with a four-pole flat trailer connector that's gonna give us all the required lights to get safely down the road, such as our tail lights, our turn signals, and our brake lights. Now, our wiring is designed to stay on the inside of the car until we're ready to use it, and then in that case, we'll just drop it down through the trunk and we can hook up our trailer. Now, when we're not towing it, we can store our wiring inside of our trunk, either right here on the floor, or if we lift it up, we can store it by our spare tire so it's not gonna be in the way.As far as installation goes, we are gonna have a couple connections behind our tail lights that our harness is gonna plug into. We're not gonna have to cut or splice any kind of factory wiring, and our kit is also gonna have a convertor box, which is gonna make sure that our vehicle is nice and protected if there we're any problems on the trailer end. Now, it's gonna get power from our battery, and that as well is fuse protected, so we're not gonna have to worry about the module having any problems either. So, now that we've seen what the end result is, let's show you how to get it install. To begin our installation, we're gonna need to pull out all the floor coverings from the trunk, and we'll go ahead and set them aside for right now. more

It's going to give you all the proper lighting plugs you need for towing your trailer so you can get down the road safely. It's going to give you your turn signals, your brake lights, your ground, and your running lights. You have a nice attached dust cap that's going to help keep any dirt and debris and moisture from getting on your connections and corroding over time. This wiring harness is going to have a power wire that's going to run up to the battery, so it's going to be drawing power from that instead of drawing power from the vehicle's taillights. How that helps is you're going to have 4.2 amps per circuit for your stop and turn signal, and then you're going to have 7.5 amps for your taillights. If you have a few extra lights on your trailer, having that power wire running up to your batter is going to maintain the brightness of the lights on your vehicle and the trailer because it's not drawing any power from the vehicle. One nice thing about the attached dust cap is it can double as a holder when not in use to keep your wiring from dragging the ground. more

Our white wire provides the necessary ground connection between our Transit Connect and our trailer. Our brown wire provides our taillight and running light function. On this circuit we have a total power output of six amps, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer that has several incandescent light bulbs, or basically as many LED lights as we want, because they do draw less power. The yellow wire is our left turn signal and left brake light. more

Part Number 118540.Here's what our wiring looks like installed. The reason you're going to want a four-pole wiring harness like this is that this will allow you to safely and legally tow a trailer. By having the necessary lighting functions that are required by law. We'll get our taillights, our running lights, our turn signals, and our brake lights with this wiring harness. Now, each one of our circuits has a total power output of seven and a half amps. Which is more than sufficient to tow a small trailer, with three or four incandescent light bulbs per side for our taillights, or our brake lights, or as many LED lights as we want, because LED lights do draw significantly less power than incandescent lights. We have this nice built-in dust cover here, which will help protect it from the elements. more

What I really like about this wiring harness is it's drawing power from the battery instead of directly from the taillights. Some of your wiring harnesses that are out there, they'll plug directly into your taillights. Then your four pole's going to run directly down. And it's drawing power from the lights or from the wiring on your vehicle. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-250 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tow Ready Fifth Wheen and Gooseneck Wiring Harness for aluminum truck beds. Part number 20110-010.Here's what the wiring looks like once you have it installed. This is going to make connecting up our trailer a lot easier, because we're not going to have to go underneath our tailgate and make the connection with the bumper. It's come to a bias with a seen way connector, it's going to have a nice spring loaded door with a gasket to keep any kind of moisture and debris out from the connector.Since the Ford trucks now have aluminum beds, our kit does come with aluminum screws, so you don't have to worry about any kind of corrosion from putting steel screws into the aluminum. Now, the kit does come with steel screws as well, if you have a steel bed, but again, if you have an aluminum bed, you're going to want to use those aluminum screws. Our harness is going to connect into our factory tow package here, at the back of our seven way on the bumper. We're going to have a T-connector system, it is an extremely simple connection and we're going to have 7 feet of wire to run from here to wherever we decide to mount it in the bed.Even with the wiring in the bed, we're still going to have our factory wiring and that's not going to be interrupted and that's not going to affect it at all. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2010 Ford Escape

Speaker 1: Today on our 2010 Ford Escape we're going to be installing Curt's vehicle wiring harness with a four pole flat trailer connector using part number C56329. This four pole connector is going to provide you with all your necessary trailer lighting, which includes your left turn, your right turn, tail lamps and brake lamp signals. This harness plugs inline with your existing tail lamp assemblies. The control box receives a fused power supply from the battery, so the lights going to your trailer aren't feeding off of your tail lamp circuits, but they have their own dedicated power circuit. This is great, because if you have a fault on your trailer that causes a short, or the fuse to open, it won't affect the tail lighting on your vehicle, just the fuse for the control box. Attached is a dust cap to help keep out dirt and debris, and it can also be used to help store it when not in use. more
