Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon th9034xt- Video
Today on our 2019 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Tooly T2 pro XTB platform style two bike rack. That's part number TH9034XT. I've already got it loaded up just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it looks on our Subaru Outback. It holds our bikes by their front tire, so we have zero frame contact. This is a nice feature when we're carrying those carbon fiber bikes or bikes we don't want any abrasions or scratches done to that top tube. You can see here how it's going to push down on that tire right in front of our brakes or our fork, whatever comes first, into that large front cradle. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon NV22B- Video
Today, in our 2019 Subaru Outback, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack which is part number NV-22B.This is a very high quality bike rack that's going to do a great job of securing your bikes with no frame contact and getting you from point A to point B wherever you need to go.The first feature I want to point out right away, which a lot of platform style racks have, is that it can tilt away from the vehicle so you can gain access to your trunk.There's a handle right here, we're going to pull down on and it just tilts away. Now we can just slide in here and open up our trunk. Doesn't even come close to making contact with our bike and we've got plenty of space to get in here and get whatever gear, cargo or even groceries that we might have in there.Now, to tilt it back up, you've just got to reverse the process. We're just going to grab a hold of the bike rack down in here, just tilt it up until it locks into place.Another cool feature is that we have a cable lock integrated in the back wheel platform right here. You will just wrap around either the wheel or the frame of the bike and it locks into itself like this. Just locks into itself, you get a key that's key to like for both of the cable locks and it's a great security feature so that no one can remove your bike without that key.Now, the bike itself is held in at two different points of contact. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon HR200Z- Video
Today our 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon. We're going to be doing a test within the Hollywood racks trail rider platform style two bike rack, that's part number HR200Z. Now this bike rack, I've already got it loaded up on our Subaru just to give you a good idea what it looks like on a bike loaded up to it so you can see how it's going to hold our bikes.Now, it holds two bikes with the top tube here, the rubber coated frame hook puts down pressure on that top tube into the cradles, not the bad way to carry two bikes. You can see I'm giving it a little bit of a shake here and there's not a whole lot of movement. So again it's going to be a safe way to transport our two bikes.Now this bike rack doesn't have all the bells and whistles but that's okay because it's extremely easy to use. Now it also doesn't tilt away like most platform style bike racks, instead it has a unique way for loading and unloading your bikes, but we'll get to that in a second. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 two bike platform rack with the cargo carrier attached, which is part number HR1450Z-85.As you can see, we have a bike installed, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. Obviously the one that sticks out to you right away is that we have a cargo carrier attached to the end of our bike rack. This is very convenient for times where maybe you want to haul all your dirty gear after a long bike ride, and it's outside of your vehicle, or if you just have more gear to travel with than what you can fit in your vehicle.The bike rack has three different points where it's secured. We have a hook and loop strap on the back wheel and the front wheel, and then we have this padded frame hook putting down force on top of the bike frame, forcing it into the wheel trace. The padding is gonna help protect your bike frame for any type of scratches or abrasions. Now one really cool feature is that we can tilt this away from the vehicle to gain access to our trunk. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo 1 Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4 and 2" Hitches, part number RKY10007.We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. This carries up to one bike, and like most platform-style racks, this does tilt away from the vehicle so we can gain better hatch access. You can see there's no issue of clearance between the bike and the hatch itself, and there's plenty of space between the bike rack and the bumper to get what you need.To put the bike rack back in its original position, just push up on the bike rack itself until you hear it click. It does come with an anti-theft cable here to wrap around the bike's frame, and it attaches to the bike rack itself here with the included lock, and this is keyed alike with the hitch lock, which we'll get to a little bit later. RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon RKY10007-05- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're on our 2018 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're gonna be test fitting the Rocky Mounts Monorail Solo 2 Bike Platform Rack for inch, and a quarter inch two inch hitches, part number RKY10007-05.We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go and take a closer look here. And one of the more interesting things about this bike rack is you can split it up into a single bike rack by removing the two screws on either side here and pulling this back section out. Like with the other platform style racks, this can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes attached to gain rear hatch access, although the handle is pretty far forward here, so if you had two bikes on here, it might be a little difficult to do this on your own. You may need an extra set of hands, but for today's purposes, you can just pull towards us and let the bike rack come down holding onto the bike rack.Now you can see, we have plenty of space in between the bike and the hatch itself and we have enough space in between the bike rack and the bumper to get what we need as well.To put it back in it's original position, you simply lift up on the bike rack itself until you hear that click. It does come with an anti-theft cable here that you wrap around the frame of your bike and it gets attached to a point just underneath the front platform here and there is a lock that comes with that and it is key to like with the hitch lock which we'll get to a little bit later.So, let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll grab our key here for the lock, remove our cable. more

Now there are several options available in colors and sizes for the NV, this is the gunmetal gray and orange, we also have it in the metallic black, two bike like what we have here or four bike. For those of you with the inch and a quarter hitches we have it available in the gunmetal gray and orange and metallic black limited to the two bike version only.Now the biggest benefit we get out of the envy here is gonna be the access that we can gain into the rear of the vehicle. Some platform style racks don't have quite this much tilt feature which a lot of times run into interference as we're opening our door but you can see we've got plenty of clearance here with the Subaru, allows us to get anything in or out of the back that we might want. more

Today on our 2016 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Malone Pilot two-bike platform rack for 2-inch hitches, part number MPG2112. We already have a bike on our rack, so let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the more prominent features about this bike rack, is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached, so we can gain rear hatch access. To do that, we'll come to this pin at the base, pop the pin loose. And you'll notice, that even with the pin loose, that's not going to come down. And that's because it's kind of a built in safety feature with this catch in the front, to make sure that's not going to fall down on you while you're trying to take this out. What you do, is you take a hold of the rack, pull out, let it tilt down. more

Today, on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a folding and tilting four bike style rack, it's designed for use with the 1 1/4" or with 2" hitches. The part number on it is TH934XTR. Now, the Hitching Post Pro is going to use three points of contact to hold our bike in place. We're going to have two for the top tube on our frame. There's also going to be an anti-sway cradle, which you can see does a really nice job of keeping our bikes from swaying back and forth. To release them, we just pull down and out on our straps, which of course have several different locations to choose from so you can get the proper tension on your frame. more

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Classic two bike platform rack for 2" hitches, part number TH9044. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Our first and most prominent feature is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that we'll come up to the front here and pull this pin so once we release this lever it actually will go all the way down. Then, releasing the lever, holding onto the bike rack, we'll let it come down like so, and now we have full access to our rear hatch and plenty of space on either side to get what we need. We'll lift it back up into position, like so, and then reinstall that pin. How this bike is actually attached to the rack, we'll have two points of contact and no frame contact at all. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today, on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack for 2" Hitches, Part Number S64684. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The bike itself is gripped to the bike rack by 3 points. We have a padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure your bike doesn't get scratched up once it's being installed. Then we have these wheel straps on either wheels. Now the wheel cradles are adjustable on the arms of the rack by loosening and tightening the knobs here. They're adjustable to assist with fitting different size bikes as well as just fitting bikes in general onto the rack. The bike rack itself does have a raised shank here, so clearance is not going to be an issue between the bike rack and the ground no matter how low your hitch sits. more

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback wagon, we are going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 and 2" hitches, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached to give rear hatch access. This is pretty unique for a hanging style bike rack. To do that we have this black handle on the passenger side of the mast. You pull that out like so, let it tilt forward, and now we have rear hatch access to get whatever we need. It is far enough away that we have plenty of space on either side to do so. We will just push this back up into its original position until you hear that click. Now, how this is actually held in place, we are going to have to rubber straps up at the top to hold it down. more

Today on our 2015 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot, Platform Style 2 Bike, 2 and 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches, Part Number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have this padded frame hook up at the top, and it's padded to make sure that you're bike won't get scratched up once it's being installed. We also have these hook and move straps on both wheels to hold those in place and the wheel cradle themselves are adjustable by loosening and tightening these knobs here. The movable length of the arms and this is to accommodate different size bikes and to assist with loading. The bike rack itself has this nice raised shank that comes on up here so clearance is not going to be an issue between your bike rack and the ground. more

The cradles themselves are padded and have these indentations here so your brake cables and such can actually fit through there without being crashed against the frame once you install your bike. They are padded as well so your bike will not get scratched and they are movable along the arms here. That's to assist with loading and with space in between the bikes. Rola TX-104 Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the ROLA TX-104 4 Bike Rack, part number 59401. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that it has an integrated cable lock in the center of the mast. You pull this out of the mast, wrap it around your bikes, attach it to this end here and lock it into place to prevent theft and tampering. The cradles are adjustable along the length of the bike rack to make loading a little bit easier. How the bikes attach to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact. We're going to have 2 straps up at the top here, one off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike moving too far back and forth. more

Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be test fitting the Pro-Series Q-Slot platform-style bike rack, part number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. As you can see, this can carry up to four bikes, however you can actually take off this end section here and make it just a two-bike carrier as well. It grips the bike in three locations. We have a frame hook up at the top, which is padded. We also have two hook and loop straps on either wheel to keep those in place as well. Those wheel cradles are adjustable, all you do is loosen up these knobs and you can move it the length of those bars. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to be the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 Bike Rack, part number SR26248. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer looks and show off some of the features. The most prominent feature of this rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. To do that you come to this black handle on the passenger side of the mast, pull out and let it come towards you. Then we have full access to our rear hatch to get whatever it is we need with plenty of space on either side to do so. To put it back in its original position just simply push it up until it lines up, you'll hear that click. The cradles themselves are adjustable, you'll have to remove these plastic pieces in between to get them to move. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon, we're going to be test-fitting the Swagman Dispatch platform rack, part number S64684. This can carry up to two bikes. You already have a bike installed so let's go ahead and show off some of the features. It has adjustable wheel cradles on both sides to accommodate different size bikes and to make fitting the bikes a little bit easier. How it actually grips the bikes, it's going to have three points of contact. We're going to have a padded frame hook up at the to make sure your bike doesn't get scratched once you install it. more

Curt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon- Video
Today in our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Curt Premium 4 bike rack on number C18064. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. You notice here that without arms themselves, they're more narrow at the start of it and they branch out. This is so you can fit different style of bikes on this such as children's and alternate frames. The cradles themselves are adjustable, the length of the arms and we also have these reflectors on the ends, and also, on the back of the mast we have this tie down here. That's recommended for when you're using Curt hitches, so you use the stabilization strap to keep the bike from moving to far back and forth while you're driving. It grips your bike by its frame in three parts. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon NV22B- Video
Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback wagon we're going to be testing fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 bike rack, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first one I'd like to show off is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that there's this latch here toward the center of the mast, you'll just hold onto the bike rack as you do this, you pull towards you, let it come down gently, and with that we have full access to the rear hatch to get whatever we need with plenty of space on either side to do so. You can see that it had plenty of space between the handle bars and the hatch as well and from the center bar handlebar to the edge that's going to be about 9 inches. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Holdup 2 bike rack, part number Y02443. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the first thing I like to show off is the fact that this can actually tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, making sure you're holding onto the bike rack as you do this, come to this red knob at the end, pull it out, and gently let it come down. With the bike rack in this position, we can actually gain access to the rear hatch with just enough clearance for our handlebars to do so. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to test-fitting this Swagman XC Two-Bike Rack, part number S64650. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of its features. Now, how this actually grips to the bike rack, you'd normally have one point of contact with the bike's frame, and that's going to be this padded frame hook up at the top. It's padded to ensure that your bike will not get scratched once you get it installed. We also have these wheel wells here on either side. You loosen up those screws and you can actually adjust them to the length of those arms ton accommodate different size bikes and to make fitting two bikes a little bit easier. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Today on our 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're doing a test fit of the Yakima Hold Up Platform Style 2 Bike Bike Rack. That part number is Y02443. Now we already have our bike secured down. First we're first going to show you one of the key features of the rack. We're going to come here to the back, lift up on our rack, and then pull out on our red pin, and that's going to allow us to tilt our back rack fully loaded away from our vehicle. With that tilted away, we're going to gain access into our back hatch area, to get anything in or out that we may need. You may notice we have a few inches between that door and our handlebars whenever it's opening. more

Today on our 2016 Subaru Outback wagon, we're doing a test fit of the Kuat NV 2.0 Platform-Style 2 Bike Rack. That part number is NV22G. We already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. I'm going to grab onto the end of our bike rack and pull down on the lever on the side here. That's going to allow us to actually tilt our bike rack with our bike's fully attached away from our vehicle. This is great because we do have that automatic hatch here. more
