Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2018 Honda CR-V

Rob: Rob here, at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro, on our 2018 Honda CRV.Now the Hitching Post Pro's going to allow us to carry four bikes to and from trail and we're not going to have to worry about cramming the bikes in the back of our CRV or having a strap unto the top of the roof or having to worry about getting another ride. It's going to be a lot easier and a safe, secure way to get our bikes to and from the trail. Now it is a hanging style bike rack, so it's going to have three points of contact. We'll have two on the cross-to on the top and the one on the vertical support here. That's going to act like an anti-sway cradle, so it's going to prevent the bike from swaying too much and that bike to bike contact.Let's go and pull our bike off, so we get a closer look. Just pull the rubber straps off and pull our bike off and set it aside. With our bike out of the way, if we look inside the cradle here, we can see that it's going to have these few channels. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Honda CR-V TH9056

Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Thule Camber four bike hanging style bike rack on our 2018 Honda CRV. Now the Camber's going to allow us to carry up to four bikes to and from the trail. It's going to prevent us from having to cram the bikes into the cargo area of our CRV or having to use a roof rack and reach all the way above our head. Now since it's a hanging style bike rack, it's going to use three points of contact. We'll have two on the upper cross tube here and then one on the vertical support. The one on the vertical support is going to act as an anti sway to prevent those bikes from swinging too much and making bike to bike contact. We are going to remove our bikes so we can take a closer look.If we come to the lever here, we can press it in, and we can start feeding the straps out until they're completely out of that buckle. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Honda CRV we're going to be doing test fit on the Yakima 4 Timer four bike platform rack. Part number Y02469. Now with a bike installed let's go over some of the features. To start like most platform racks this can tilt away from your vehicle. We're going to come down here to the base and first we're going to pull this gray safety pin and we can just let that hang there. Then we're going to pull on this red pin on the other side like so and then we can tilt it away. However given the vehicle that we have, when we try to open up our trunk, we do make contact with the bike we have installed right there. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 Honda CRV, we're going to be doing a test today on the Yakima Four-Timer Four Bike Platform Rack, Part Number Y02469.As you can see, we have a bike installed. Let's take a closer look at some of the features. Like most platform style racks, this one can tilt away while you have four bikes loaded. We're going to pull this gray pin out and we're just going to let it hang for a minute. Then we're going to come to this red pin and pull and then let it tilt away. Now something we found with this specific vehicle is that when we try to open the trunk, we're going to see it'll make contact with our bike. So if you utilize this bike rack with this vehicle, you might need to probably use the second one or use a shorter spread of handlebar to put up front. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Honda CRV we're going to be testing the Inno Aero Light four-bike rack for 1-1/4 and 2-inch hitches. That's going to be part number INH640. As you can see, we do already have a bike installed, so we can take a look at some of the features. Now if we start from the outside and work our way in, we're going to have this integrated cable lock system that comes out from the base of our bike rack, like so, wraps around the frame of our bikes, and then it's simply inserted into that slot right there. You will get a set of keys with your bike rack. So when you want to unlock the cable, you simply just push up this little tab, you can insert your key in there, unlock your cable, and then unload your bikes. When we come to these cradles, we're going to see that they can pivot back and forth, and then that also go up and down on the bike rack to accommodate any spacing you might want between your bikes or different sized bike frames. These cradles are going to have a nice rubber coating on them which is going to help protect the frame of your bike from any type of scratches or abrasions during installation or travel. If we come and look at the bike itself, we're going to see it's secured at three different points of contact. more

As you can see, we do already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features. Now, if we look right here, we're going to see our wheel cradles for the front and rear of our bikes that do not pivot back and forth. However, if you loosen this bolt right here like so, you can slide it up and down or side to side on the rack in order to meet any specifications of length a bike might have. As you can see, these rubber straps come up and around and latch into here. And it also comes with a rubber spacer right here for any type of bikes that might be deep into the cradle and need that space right there to help keep it locked into the cradle, like our road bike we have installed. So if we look at the bike, we're going to see it's secured at three different points of contact. We're going to see a rubber strap with this rubber spacer, making sure that that wheel stays locked in there. more

If you have a two inch hitch, you can get it in a two bike platform or a four bike platform. All of these combinations can come in either silver or black. The greatest feature of this bike rack is how easy it is to lower it down. Let's take a closer here, and this is a pretty basic bike rack, carrying one bike from place to place, but carrying it at two points here of contact with your bike. We're going to have a rear wheel strap here and then we're going to have a front wheel hook here, and this enables you to carry a wider variety of bikes as opposed to the platform style that has the main mast that grabs it by the frame of your bike. Right now, we have a road bike on it, but this will also fit mountain bikes, alternate frame bikes and most kids' bikes as well and even fat tire bikes up to five inches wide.At the end of the wheel hook, we do have this integrated cable lock that'll pull out, wrap around the frame of your bike and attach to this point here to secure it to your vehicle. This is key to like with our speed knob, and we'll get to that in a minute. So, let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Start by removing our rear wheel strap. more

Today on our 2016 Honda CR-V, we're gonna be taking a look at the Malone Hanger Three Bike Rack, part number MPG2127. Our bike's gonna be secured to our bike rack by two points. We're gonna have two cradles going across the frame right here, and then our strap is gonna come back on the vertical support, acting as a anti-sway. Now, the way we're gonna remove our bike, is if we come to our strap, so it's just gonna be a black knob, and if we pull out on our knob we can pull the strip out, and we can do the same thing with the other one. And with those straps undone we can go ahead and take our bike off and set it aside. The cradles are gonna have a nice, soft rubber to keep our bike secure, and then also we're not gonna have to worry about any scratches or abrasions on our paint. One of the nice features of our ratcheting straps are, they have a keeper at the bottom, so if we don't push our strap all the way through, there's less of a chance of us losing it. Now, our bike rack is gonna add quite a bit of real estate to the back of our vehicle, so I'd like to give you a few measurements. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Honda CR-V

Today on our 2016 Honda CRV we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro XTB 2-bike platform rack for 2" hitches, part number TH9034XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. One of the most prominent features of this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with both bikes still attached to gain rear hatch access. To do that, you'll come to this handle up in the front, which is pretty unique as well because most bike racks will have the handles up underneath the front bike and make it a little difficult to get to. You pull the handle towards you like so, holding onto the bike rack, letting it come forward. Now we have full access to our rear hatch to get what we need and plenty of space on either side to do so. more
