Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike is attached to the rack, you're going to have three points of contact with your bike, we're going to have a frame hook up at the top here, which is padded, so it won't scratch or damage the bike when you install it, and it's going to have wheel straps on both sides. Let's go ahead and take the bike off, and set it aside. Now, when loosening up the frame hook, you want to keep hold of your bike so it doesn't fall forward into the vehicle. more

We're going to have 3 straps up at the top here, and 1 off to the side, and that's going to act as a anti sway strap to keep the bike from going back and forth too far, to hit either the bike rack, or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. With that done, I'm going to go ahead and put the straps back into place just so we don't lose them while driving. Now I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Inno Tire Hold Hitch Bike Rack, part number INH305-306. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. The first thing I like to show off is pretty much the most important feature, which is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. You come up to the front here to the switch, pull out on it, holding onto the bike rack. Let it tilt down. Now we have access to our hatch without having to remove the bikes. more

It does have an incorporated cable lock, that's something that they've recently added, that's designed to go over the frames of your bike and keep them secured to the rack. It uses a Thule One Key Tumbler System, so if you've already got some you can replace it with a matching key. If not you can start your step with whichever number shows up. The swing feature, that's always the big question: how does it work, what does it do Right here we have the large, black t-handle bolt. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor we're going to be doing a test fit of the Kuat NV 4. This is going to be your platform-style 4-bike rack. It's going to be part numbers N105-107, and just because of the combination of making a 2-bike into a 4-bike at the connection point here. As you can see, we already have the bike up here on the rack and installed on the vehicle so you can see how it looks and fits. Our first thing we're going to do is get a few measurements, starting with our closest distance first, which in this case is going to be from the front of the bike rack to the bumper of the vehicle. That's going to be about 6-3/4". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be about 48-1/2" to the very back back here. more

This bike carrier only comes with a 2" shank for your 2" hitches only. As you can see, we've already got it up here on our rack and on our vehicle so you can see how it looks and fits. First thing we're going to do is get a couple measurements, first measurement being our closest distance, which is going to be from the front of the t-handle there to the back of the bumper at about 5". Our overall distance with it fully extended and the bike on is going to be about 34-1/2", with a rear ground clearance of about 13". more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we are going to be test fitting the Yakima Stickup two bike platform style hitch mounted bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches part number Y02420. We'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. Line up our pin hole and thread in our anti rattle bolt tightening it down with the wrench. Then we can go ahead and install the pin on the other side. Now with our bike rack in this position, we have a ground clearance of about fourteen inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Explorer is about three and a half inches and we've added about twelve inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll pull the pin at the base of the bike rack and allow it to unfold. This is going to allow us to have full access to our rear hatch door. more

The closest point of our Vertex to the rear of our Explorer is about 4 inches. more

Well line up our pin holes, allow the attached pin to fall into the pin hole, and then well tighten the black knob. This engages our anti-rattle device and further secures our rack to our vehicle. In this position, we have about 14-1/2 inches worth of ground clearance. more

We've added about 13-1/2" to the overall length of our vehicle. We'll go ahead and pull the lever at the top of the mast to swing out our dual arms. more

We've added about 13" to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We'll pull the lever at the base of our bike rack and allow it to tilt away from our vehicle. This give us full access to our rear hatch door. With the bike rack back in it's upright position, we'll pull the lever at the top of the mast to swing our our dual arms. With these out, we've added about 37 1/2" to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We'll go ahead and undo our cradle straps to expose our frame cradles. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we are going to be test fitting the Swagman XTC4, a platform style four bike rack for two inch hitches part number S64665. To begin our test we'll slid the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti rattle bolt and tighten it down with the wrench. We can then secure it with the provided lock. In this position we have about thirteen and a quarter inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about an inch and a half away. However we are trying to manipulate it, we couldn't get it to make contact with our bumper and overall we've added about eight and a half inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the large silver pin and clip located at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into its platform position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here and as you can see this gives us great access into our hatch. In the platform position our bike rack is going to offer us about twenty one inches worth of ground clearance here at the rear. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Axis, a tilting 3 bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part # SA843B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right and tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 13 3/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 5 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 14" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the yellow T-handle located at the base of the center mast will allow us to tilt it away from the vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access into our hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now extend our dual cradle arms. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it down with a wrench, the anti-rattle system is going to help reduce the amount of rattle or wobble that we may have inside of our hitch. Once we have that fully tightened down, we can go ahead and install our lock on the other side. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to give us a ground clearance of about 16 inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Explorer is about eight inches away and we've added about 25 and a half inches to the overall length of our Explorer. We'll pull the three pins at the base of our bike rack to unfold the different parts. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to allow us to have full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle. more

The closest point of our rack is about 4 inches away from the rear of our vehicle. And overall we've added about 11 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt the mast away from our vehicle. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Hang 2, a tilting two bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR27041. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and then tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we'll have about 13 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 3/4 of an inch away and overall, we've added about 21 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the two silver pin and clips at the top of the bike rake will allow us to tilt our handle bar cradles up into position. We'll rotate them up and when the pin holes line up we'll place through our pins to secure it in place. In this position, we're only adding about 13 1/4 inches to the length of our vehicle. We're now ready to load up our bike. We'll first want to undo our straps. more

To begin our test-fit, well slide the shank of a bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our panels, let in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We then secure it with the provided lock. In this position, we have about 13.25 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about an inch and a half away. However, with trying to manipulate it, we couldnt get it to make contact with our bumper. Overall, weve added about 8.5 inches to the length of the explorer. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram, a tilting four bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26248. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack in the receiver tube of the hitch, we'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we have about 13 3/4 inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of our rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 1/4 inches away, and overall, we've added about 12 1/4 inches to the length of the Explorer. We'll now extend our duel cradle arms. We'll pull the silver pin located at the top of each arm, rotate them into position, and reinsert our pin. It's now time to load up our bike. We'll begin by undoing our cradle straps. We'll grab our bike, place it into the cradles, and then secure it with the straps. Just like that, we've got our bike loaded up. A great feature of the Element Parallelogram is it's ability to tilt away from your vehicle even though you've got a bike loaded. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Thelma, a platform style 3 bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part # SA4239B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 14" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2 1/2" away, and overall we've added about 10 1/2" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the gold pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into platform position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here, and as you can see, this gives us full access into our rear hatch. In the platform position, our rack offers 20 1/4" worth of ground clearance here at rear. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Bike Porter, a tilting 4 bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part # SA604B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right, and we'll tighten it down with a wrench. We then take the provided clip and secure it. In this position, we have about 13 1/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 7 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 11" to the length of the Explorer. Lifting on the yellow rubber ring located at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access to the rear hatch. Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fit the Saris Freedom, a platform style tilting 4 bike rack for 2" hitches, part # SA4414B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we'll have about 14 1/2" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 4" away, and overall we've added about 17" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the gray level at the top of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into platform position. In this position we have about 23 1/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle has now moved to about 10 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 37 1/4" to the length of our SUV. As you can see in this position, we do have full access to our rear hatch. more

To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin hole, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it using the provided lock. In this position, well have about 13-1/4 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 10-1/2 inches away. Overall, weve added about 21 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the silver pin and clip located at the base of the mast will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle. more

The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 5.5 inches away and overall, weve added about 18-3/4 of an inch to the length of the Explorer.Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the rack will allows us to tilt it away from our vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access to our hatch. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Pro Series Q Slot. This is a platform style tilting two bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part number PS63134. Now, to begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch here. We'll look through the window until we have our pinholes lined up. We'll then slide through our pin and secure it with our clip. Now with our bike rack in this position, we're going to have about 15 3/4" worth of ground clearance there at the rear. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle would be right here and it's going to be about 6 1/2". Overall, we're adding about 24" to the total length of the Explorer. Now, the two pin and clips located here on the outside the rear will allow us to tilt our wheel cradles down. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test-fitting the Rhino-Rack folding and tilting 4-bike rack for 2 inch hitches, part number RBC038. Now, to begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we slide it in, well want to look through the window here to see when our pinholes line up. With them lined up, well throw on our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. With that bolt tightened, as you can see, it really tightens up our connection there. We have no play in it, nice and secure. We'll then take our lock, provided from Rhino-Rack and lock it into place. We'll take our dust cover and cover up that lock. more

With the bike rack secure we'll go over a couple of clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the bike rack to the closest part of the vehicle is about 9 -3/4 inches, and we've added about 16 inches to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We can now unscrew the black wheels on the upper left and right hand corner of the mast to swing out our dual arms. With the cradle arms out we've added about 40-1/2 inches to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. more

We have added about 18 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. We will pull the pin at base of the bike rack and allow it to tilt away from our Explorer, this gives us full access to our rear hatch. With the mast back in it's upright position and the pin reinstalled, we will pull the pin at the top of our mast to swing out our dual arms. With these out, we have added about 39 inches to the overalllength of our Ford Explorer. more

To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of the hitch and allow the attached pin to fall into place. We'll then use the hand knob to secure the bike rack to the vehicle and engage our anti-rattle device. Now we'll go over a few clearance measurements. We have about nineteen and a half inches of ground clearance. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our vehicle is about three inches. We've added about fourteen and a half inches to the overall length of our Ford Explorer. We'll pull the lever at the top of the mast to swing out our dual arms. With these out, we've added about thirty-nine inches to the overall length of our explorer. We'll undo the cradle straps to exposure our cradles, grab our bike, place it into the frame cradles, and secure it by tightening each strap. Now we'll move to the back side of the mast and loosen up the T-handle. more
