Swagman Titan Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Ford Edge

Today on our 2013 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Swagman Titan 4-bike carrier, part number S63410. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the bike rack shank into our hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and then go ahead and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, we can now go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 12-1/2". With the bike rack in its folded position, we've added about 19" to the overall length of our vehicle. Now we can go ahead and lift up on the liver at the bottom of the mast to take advantage of the tilt feature of this bike carrier. more

Today, on our 2013 Ford Edge, well be test fitting the Yakima Doubledown Ace Four-Bike Carrier for 1-1/4 and Two-inch hitches, Part Number Y02451. Now to begin our test fit, well simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, insert the pin with the red knob into the pinholes and turn the black knob at the end of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device.Now that our Doubledown Ace is secured to our Ford Edge, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 4-1/2 inches. With the cradle arms folded down, weve added about ten inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out. With the cradle arms out, weve added an additional 34 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Now to begin our test fit we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pin holes and tighten with a wrench.Now with our Thule Hitching Post Pro secured to our Ford Edge we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. We have about 11 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about six and a half inches.With the cradle arms folded down we've added about 15 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. We'll now pull the pin at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out and with the cradle arms out we've added an additional 36 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. To access the cargo area we'll pull the gold pin at the base of the mast to tilt the carrier down.This will allow us to have access to our vehicle's cargo door. more

To begin our test fit, well simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pinholes, thread our anti-rattle bolt through the pinholes and tighten with a wrench.Now, with our two-way double tracks secured to our Ford Edge, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. With the platform folded up, theres about 11 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about three inches and weve added about ten inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Well now lift up on the grey lever at the base of the carrier to fold the platform down. With the platform folded down at the rear of the carrier, we have about 16 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about 2-1/2 inches, and weve added a total of about 30 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.Now with the platform folded down, you can see that we can easily have access to our vehicles cargo door. more

We've added an additional 33 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.To access the cargo area we'll pull the silver pin at the base of the carrier to tilt the mast down. This will allow us to have access to our vehicle's cargo door. more

Line up our hitch pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, securing it and tightening it with a wrench.Now we'll go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of 11-1/2 inches. With the bike rack in its folded position we've added about 14 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. If we pull the pin at the bottom of the mast to tilt down our bike carrier you can see that we can easily gain access to the cargo area of our vehicle.Now with our bike carrier back in the upright position we'll go ahead and loosen up the knobs to swing out our cradle arms. more

Now we can go ahead and pull the pin at the bottom of the mast and tilt down our bike rack.This allows us to easily gain access to our cargo area. Now we'll put the bike rack back in its upright position. more

Now to begin our test fit we'll simply slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch and turn the black T-handle at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device.Now that our Kuat Sherpa is secured to our Ford Edge we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit together. With the platform folded up we have about 15 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about one inch. Again, with the platform folded up we've added about 12 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now pull the bronze lever at the base of the carrier to fold down the platform. With the platform folded down we have about 22 inches of ground clearance at the rear of the carrier. more

We can then turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device.Now with our Kuat NV secured to our Ford Edge we'll go over a few clearance measurements to see how they fit to together. With the platform folded up we have about 12 inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the carrier to the closest part of the vehicle here at the rear bumper is about two inches. With the platform folded up we've added about 13-1/2 inches to the overall length of the vehicle.We'll now pull the orange lever at the base of the carrier to fold down the platform. more

We'll now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform. and open our cargo door. As you can see we can gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle. more

We'll simply slide the shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. Now that the bolt is tight our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. At this point we'll go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance here at the bike rack is twelve inches, and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle here at the mast measures seven inches. We'll now go ahead and pull the pin here at the bottom of the mast will will allow us to tilt the mast down, where we can then access our cargo area. As you can see we can gain access to the cargo area even with this bike rack secured to the vehicle. We'll now pull the pin here at the top of the mast and bring out the dual arms. more

Thule Apex 4 Swing Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Ford Edge

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the Thule Apex Swing 4 Bike Carrier for 2-inch Hitches, part number TH9027. Now, all we'll need to do to fit this bike rack to the vehicle is slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, making sure that the integrated locking hitch pin is pulled out. Once the pin is over the collar, we'll push it back in and allow it to lock in to the hitch pin hole of the hitch. We'll then move to the back of the shank here where we'll tighten the knob down, securing our bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few clearance measurements. Our ground clearance at the bottom of the bike rack is 11 inches and the anti-rattle knob is 2 inches from the back of the vehicle. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge, we'll be test fitting the SportRack 2 Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier with Wheel Mount Cradles, part number A30901. To begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole, and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. And that will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. We'll now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the back of the bike rack is 15-1/2 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 7 inches. We'll now go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our cargo door. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Edge well be test fitting the Rhode Gear Highway 2 Bike Carrier for both 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches. This is part number RG80152320. Now, to begin our test fit well simply slide our bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pinhole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. With our bolt tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Well now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches and from the closest point of the bike, rack mast to the back of the vehicle is 6 inches. more

Today on this 2012 Ford Edge, we're going to do a test fit of the Vertex 4 Bike Rack part number TH9029. A few quick notes about this bicylcle rack is that you can use it of 1-1/4" receiver hitch both class 1 and class 2. However with a class 1 receiver hitch, you are limited to two bicycles. This will also work in a 2-inch receiver hitch as shown here with the provided spacer. We'll start off our test fit by installing our bike rack into the hitch and then tighten down the anti-rattle bolt. All right with the bike rack installed we'll get a couple of clearence measurements. more

Alright, today, on this 2012 Ford Edge, we're going to do a test fit of a Softride Bicycle Rack. This is a Dura Parallelogram Bike Rack, part number SR26247. One note about this bicycle rack is that this is designed for 2-inch receiver hitches only and then the bicycle rack does have two sets of hitch pinholes to allow you to adjust the depth of how far the bike rack goes into the hitch to give you different amounts of clearance. In this case, were going to be using the hole that gives the most amount of clearance. We'll start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch. We'll tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and then we'll go ahead and install the lock. more
