Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to show you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-156-25.The five main components for a flat tow set-up are your braking system, your wiring, your tow bar, your safety cables, and your base plate.What this is going to do, this is going to allow you to hook this up to your six volt plug on the front of the vehicle, and while it's being flat towed, the battery in your RV is going to charge the battery in your towed vehicle, because the towed vehicle has to have the key in the on position.You're going to get your wiring, you're going to get your circuit breaker, large ring terminal, it's going to hook to the battery. And you're going to get two smaller ring terminals that are going to connect to each post on your circuit breaker. On the bottom of your circuit breaker, or on the side of it, I should say, you're going to have a battery and an auxiliary. This is going to say auxiliary, and this is going to say battery. You have a copper and a silver post. The side that says battery is going to run to your six volt plug, which means battery coming from your RV. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2019 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today on this 2019 Jeep Cherokee we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, Part Number RM-156-25. It's a very simple kit to install. Once you find the location to mount your breaker, you'll have one wire which will go to the positive terminal of your battery and then another wire which will go to your six-way connector at the front of your vehicle, and that will receive power from the motorhome and send it through the breaker and then to your battery to maintain the charge in it as you're driving.Now it's a great idea while you have your fascia off to go ahead and add your charge line wire as you're hooking up your diodes for your wiring for your electrical connections. So we'll take the red wire that comes with our charge line kit and we'll strip off the insulation from one end, and we're going to hook this up to our auxiliary terminal. This is where it gets charged, and that is the center terminal here marked A. So we'll loosen that set screw and insert the wire in the red terminal inside the screw-down.Now I'll take some dielectric grease which we have available on our website and flood the back side of our connector. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee, you're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screen, part number RM-4750. This is what our Tow Defender looks like when it's installed. What this thing is going to do, it's going to protect our vehicle while it's being towed from any dirt, debris, or anything else, that may be kicked up by our RV while we're traveling. It's going to be made out of a nylon mesh netting. It's going to allow air to flow through to keep it from bouncing up and down as we're going down the road. Up here on the front side, we're going to have a gas strut on each side that's going to allow our Tow Defender to move as the RV turns. more

Yakima Roof Rack Review - 2016 Jeep Cherokee Y00147- Video

The towers here simply wrap around your existing factory raised side rails providing padding where it will make contact so it won't scratch them up or anything like that, and they tighten down and they're ready to go. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles. That's gonna be part number RM-156-25. Our charge line kit is gonna make sure that our Cherokee's battery stays charged while we're towing it behind our motor home. It's gonna connect directly to the six-way connector we have at the front of our vehicle here and it's gonna get the power from the RV and it's gonna provide just enough power to our battery so we don't overcharge it. We're just gonna have one breaker that we're gonna have to install, and that's gonna make sure that it just provides the 15 amps to the battery to prevent overcharging. We'll run our wire over to the positive post of our battery, and that'll be all the connections we'll need to make. more

To get that installed, we're going to be using the wiring kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 brake electric trailer brake controllers, part number 5506. That will be for an existing seven pole. If you do not have an existing seven pole, you're going to want to pick up part number ETBC7.This is what our brake controller looks like when it's installed. This is going to be proportional brake controller. What that means is, when you apply the brakes in your Jeep, the same amount of force is going to be applied to the brakes on your trailer. more

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2009 Jeep Liberty- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 Jeep Liberty, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicles with Supplemental Braking Systems. And that's going to be part number RM-766. In order to flat tow our Liberty, we are going to have to disconnect our battery per the owners manual. Now it can be a hassle to come underneath the hood, and get a wrench out every time we want to flat tow our Liberty, and it can be a little bit dangerous having that cable banging around. Well that's where our Roadmaster automatic disconnect switch is going to come into play. It's going to provide us with a solenoid that's going to automatically disconnect our battery without us even having to come under the hood.So we're going to be on the inside of our car, and we chose to mount our switch on the inside of this compartment, that way there's no chance of anybody accidentally hitting it, and it's nice and out of the way. more

This gives you the necessary lighting functions they need by law in order to be legal, you'll have your tail lights, your turn signals and your brake lights.These are what our diode packs look like installed. With this diode packs are going to do to our vehicle, by allowing us to use the factory bulbs, they also prevent any voltage being backfed into out expensive electrical circuits from the motorhome. These will only allow electricity to pass in one direction. So our factory lights will still work as normal through the factory, and when we're flat towing it, it'll come in through our four pole flat wires, and out to the factory bulb.Now another thing that comes with this kit is our seven to six way coiled wire kit. The seven-way will go towards the motorhome, and the six-way will go to the front of our Grand Cherokee. more

They're going to be directly attached on removal arms, and these are going to make it easy to put your tow bar on and take it off from your RV. When it comes time to not use them, you simply remove the arms and they stay attached. When you're ready to use it, slide your arm in, twist so it locks into place. When it comes time to hook up to your RV, you simply take your tow bar, match up the holes with the pins, slide it into place, attached your included safety pins. Roadmaster Universal Diode Wiring Kit Installation - 2018 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be installing Roadmaster's universal diode kit. Part number RM-152. Along with this we'll be using Roadmaster's seven wire to six wire straight cord, part number RM-98146-7.This diode kit is going to allow your RV to send its brake, turn, and tail lamp signals to the lights on your vehicle. This will allow vehicle behind you to know what you're about to do, and it will keep you in compliance with local laws.Here we are in our RV, and all of our signaling devices are going to activate back on our vehicle. It activates our left turn on both the RV and on our vehicle. The same happens with our right turn, our brake lamps, and our tail lamps.Along with this diode kit, it's going to come with a six pole connector, and a cable that goes from six pole to seven pole so you can hook it to your RV. more

Adapter Lug for Off-Road Vehicle Bumpers Installation - 2014 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the adapter lug for off-road vehicle bumpers to Blue Ox Tow Bar, for 7/8ths inch pin, part number BX88296.This adapter plug allows you to flat tow your Jeep if you have an after market off-road bumper. This will work with Alpha, Aventa, and Aladdin tow bars for Blue Ox. The connection point on those two bars have a different end for attaching to a base plate. This plug has a wider mounting point of one inch between tabs and 7/8ths diameter lug pins.As you can see here on our two bar, this adapter here is not going to fit on the after market bumper that our Jeep has on it. We have a replacement that we're going to put on, so it'll fit his application on the front of his vehicle.First we're going to remove these, we're going to use two 19 millimeter wrenches. Now what we're going to do is on your brackets, you have a sticker on the side that says face up. more

This kit is gonna allow your RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge in your towed vehicle's battery so that when you get to your camp site or wherever you're going your towed vehicle's ready to go.First thing we're gonna do is we're gonna mount our breaker. Now my battery hookup's on that side, my power is gonna be running down to the front of my grill. It's awful tight over here, I'm not gonna be able to get a drill in so I think here is gonna be about as good as place as any and it's halfway in between both places. We'll take self tapping screw, drill one of our holes, and then put our other screw in.We're gonna take our power wire, we're gonna strip it back, we'll take one of our smaller ring terminals that come in our kit, connect it on the ends, go ahead and crimp it down. We'll take some electrical tape then we're gonna hook it to the side that says battery which is gonna be this bottom one, kind of a brass color. more

Part Number is RM-156-25.Now the vehicle charge line kit has a breaker in line, so as the power is coming back from our RV and running through, if our vehicle has a large demand or if it's drawing a lot of power through the wire, the breakers gonna separate. It's not gonna allow it to over do it. This just basically gives us a 12 volt power source that comes from our coach to our battery, allowing for it to be charged as we're traveling down the road. That way when we get to our destination, we won't have to worry about a dead battery.Now the best time to get our wiring ran up to the front of the vehicle is gonna be when we have the fascia off of our car. Now for the charge line kit we need to run one wire up to plug on the front of our vehicle. more

Now the reason to choose this style of the kit over a coiled wiring kit would be because your tow bar either has a slot where your wiring will slide through to keep it really nice and neat or you prefer a nice, neat look where you could zip tie everything together and keep it clean.We'll start disassembling our plug, so we can connect our wiring. Use a Phillips screwdriver to take out that little set screw. Now we're going to bring our wiring through our large hole. Now that end, it's just going to pull out just like that. more

Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we will be having a look and installing the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. Here's what our towed vehicle charge line kit looks like installed. As you can see it's a simple circuit breaker connection, which goes over the positive terminal of our battery. Then we have a wire that goes out towards the front of our Jeep, which will tie into our six way connector on the front of it for our vehicle's towed lighting system and will be charged off of the port of the back of the RV when it's being flat towed behind it. Now this is a great thing to have because our Jeep when it's being flat towed behind the motor home, does require the key to be in the ignition in the accessory position so the steering wheel doesn't lock. And because of that some electrical systems in the car are still receiving power and the battery will eventually be run down because the engines not running, so the alternator can't recharge the battery. Also, since we're using a portable braking system in this Jeep, which may be in yours as well. more

Roadmaster Car Side Tow Bar Quick Disconnects Installation - 2017 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnects, and this is going to be for the car side only. That's going to be part number RM-222. So here's what are Quick Disconnects looks like, and it's going to allow us to hook up to our tow bar, and also at the same time still be able to utilize are removable arms on our base plates. Now the way these are going to work is we're going to have the tow bar base, now this part's not included in our kit, but we do have several options available on our website. It's going to slide into place, and we're going to be able to hook our tow bar up here. To make sure everything's secure we'll put our pins in place, now we'll be ready to hook up our tow bar. This is going to be much easier and much less time consuming for one person. So whether you're looking for a Quick Disconnects system or you need a replacement for your existing system this kit right here's going to be a great option to make your connections a lot easier and faster. Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today in our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be having a look at installing the RoadMaster 7-wire to 6-wire Flexo-Coil kit, part number RM-146-7. Here's what our wiring looks like installed. It mounts nicely to our baseplate. We have this nice dust cover here that snaps shut, spring-loaded action. It seals tightly against our connector here, to keep the dirt and the elements outside of it. It also will secure our six-pole round connector inside with this latch right here, so we don't have to worry about it getting disconnected by any forward movement on it. This connector, coupled with the 7-way to 6-pole adaptor, will transmit the signals from our RV to our Jeep, allowing us to have functional tail-lights, turn signals, and brake lights, in conjunction with the RV working in unison, treating our Jeep as a trailer, so all of our lights, that are required by law, work properly while we're flat-towing behind our RV. Because our 6-function is built in here, you could also use it for a monitor light situation on your RV, for when the vehicle's brakes are applied in this supplemental braking system or you could also have a charge line adaptor work for it as well, to charge your vehicle's battery whilst being towed behind your RV. Now, my favorite thing about this kit is that it's a complete package. Not only do you get your 7-way to your 6-way adaptor, but you get your 6-way connector here to put on the front of your vehicle. more

Here's what our charge line kit looks like installed. This kit will allow our motor home to charge our battery in our vehicle when it's being flat towed behind it. This way we don't have to worry about having a dead battery in our Jeep when we arrive at our destination when we're Rving. Now the reason you want this particular kit is if you have a portable braking system inside your vehicle when it's flat towed to apply the brakes in it, and it uses the vehicle's battery to supply power to it versus the motor home, your battery will be run down when it's in tow mode behind your RV. This will prevent that from happening and you'll have a fully charged battery when you arrive at your destination, so when you unhook you can easily start it and go explore around where you're at. It's a simple two wire installation with just one circuit breaker that you need to install. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler we'll be having a look at and installing the Blue Ox Second Vehicle Breakaway Kit for Blue Ox Patriot Supplemental Breaking System, part number BRK2505. All right, here's what our breakaway switch looks like installed. As you can see, it'll give us our necessary breakaway functions, even comes with the lanyard to attach to your motor home. This is an ideal solution for if you want to flat tow a second vehicle and only have one braking system share between the two. You can leave your breakaway switch permanently attached on each vehicle and just swap the unit in between the two. Additionally, this kit is also a great solution to fix a damaged or broken breakaway switch. This will allow your brakes to be applied in your towed vehicle when the pin is pulled in the unfortunate incident of your towed vehicle becoming unhooked from your RV. more

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Second Vehicle Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we'll be installing the Roadmaster second vehicle kit, Roadmaster InvisiBrake braking systems, part number RM-98700. Here's what the kit looks like installed, as you can see when I step on the brakes in the RV the pedal goes down inside our Jeep as well. Now in the unlikely event if our vehicle was to ever become uncoupled from our motor home and the break away switch was pulled our brakes would be applied in the tow vehicle. Now if the pin was pulled the brakes would stay applied in our vehicle until it came to a stop. It was reattached to our tow vehicle and the pin reinserted. Now you can easily adjust how much pressure is going to our brakes for an aggressive setup. Your break away switch is pulled you can adjust it as needed to where you want it. more

SMI Replacement LED Monitor Light Installation - 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and our 2010 Phoenix Cruiser motor home on a Ford E-450 van chassis we'll be installing the SMI replacement LED monitor light for SMI Air Force One and Stay and Play Dual Supplemental Braking Systems, part number SM99612. As you can see we can barely see the indicator light on the dash of the Jeep. That is the purpose of installing the indicator light inside your RV, that way you can see exactly what's going on easily in all light conditions. We'll get going a little bit here and we'll apply the brakes and you can see the brakes are being applied on the Jeep behind us. Here's what our kit consists of. We have two butt connectors here to install it and the actual monitor light itself, which has a double-sided tape to help secure it to the dash or wherever we want to mount it. It has a fairly long wire lead so we can run the wires behind the dash not have to see everything hanging out. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2016 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2016 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. To begin our installation we'll be at the front of our vehicle where our six pole round connector is. That's the umbilical between our towed vehicle, our Cherokee here today, and our RV. I'll remove this real quick so you have access to all the wiring. We'll just pull it down here. We'll be using the middle terminal right here because on a seven to six wire cable the middle terminal on the plug is the charge line coming from the RV. We'll take our red wire that comes with our charge line kit, strip off some insulation, and then we want to loosen the set screw for our middle terminal here, stick our wire down inside there, and tighten the screw back up. With that secure I'll pull back on it and make sure it's really secure, take the other end of our red wire and we'll slide it through our sleeve here, reinstall the sleeve over it. One thing I like to do is put our wire inside some wire loom. more

Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to take a look at, and show you how to install, the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit, part number RM-146-7. We're going to be using a 6-pole round that's going to offer a 6-pole plug, and then that flex coil is going to go to a 7-pole, which is going to plug in to the back of most RVs for us there. Pull the boot off and we want to slide it down our wire to start. Just tuck that back here for now. Figure out how much wire we're going to need and cut that off. I'm going to strip the ends of these back. Now, I'm going to pull that ground wire off the back of that 4-pole plug, I need to have a ground however, for the lighting system here. more

Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode Installation - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Single Park light Diode that's used on the charge wire. Part number is RM-690. If we've got 12 volt power at the 7 pull in the back of our motor home we can actually use that power to trickle charge the charging system that's in our vehicle. Now to connect to our Park Light Diode we need to run a 12 volt wire from our plug in here at the front of the vehicle on back to where we'll eventually mount the diode closer to our 12 volt power connection source. We just run it kind of through the front of it here just so you have enough to wire it up, and then we can follow along with whatever wiring that we've ran. Those base plates are going to have at minimum a break away switch. In this case we've got an air line and a couple other things. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Jeep Wranger Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins InSIGHT. This is a proportional flex mount trailer brake controller that's going to work great for one up to four axles. Part number is HM47297. We're also going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controller. This is going to offer both a 7 way RV plug and a 4 pull flat. Part number on that is ETBC7. As a great feature we're going to have a constant monitor that's going between our brake controller and our trailer to let us know everything's connected properly. As you can see as I plug in my trailer a small red light's going to come on indicating it's connected. more

Today in our 2015 Jeep Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at installing the Roadmaster seven-wire to six-wire Flexo-Coil kit, part number RM-146-7.Here's what it looks like once it's installed. It's going to make hooking up to your trailer very easily. This is going to be installed at all times, and the only time it's going to be active is when you plug in to your RV. It does come with a seven to six-way adapter. So if your RV has a seven-pole connector and your vehicle is going to use a six, this'll swap it over so you can use it that way. Superwinch Front Mount Electric Winch Wiring Installation - 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today, on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be doing an install on the Superwinch front vehicle electric winch wiring harness. This is part number SW2007. Here's what our harness is going to look like, once it's installed on the vehicle. We got a nice protective cover that's going to come off the front, our positive and negative side connections there. We get through our winch right into the front of the hitch, secure it, plug in, and we're going to have the power we need right here to get us out of any situation or help us in whatever task we're trying to accomplish. Here's what your front wiring kit's going to consist of. We're going to have our 30-inch ground cable. This is going to provide an excellent source of contact between our battery and our frame to complete our loop. more

Superwinch Electric Winch Wiring Kit Installation - 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to review and install the Superwinch Vehicle Electric Winch Wiring Kit, part number SW2008. To begin our install, we're going to mount our connector here at the back of the vehicle. To assist with mounting we're going to use the Tow Ready No-Drill Mounting Bracket that we'll secure here to the steel structure of our rear bumper. Because I want it to be bent down so it will clear the rear bumper, I'm going to go ahead and put it in a vise and bend the bracket slightly. That should be enough to give us an angle that we need to clear the bumper. Once we have our bracket bent, we can go ahead and secure it here to the bumper structure using the worm gear clamp provided to secure it. more

Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode Installation - 2003 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Today on this 2003 Jeep Wrangler, we're going to install part number RM-690. This is the Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode. The idea behind these diodes is to prevent any backfeed from the towed vehicle going up to the RV. Typically this is used on the running light circuit where the power from the towed vehicle will backfeed up into the RV. Now we're actually going to use it for a little bit different application. In this situation, our Jeep has a after-market supplemental braking system installed and it provides backfeed in that fashion. We need to install two diodes to prevent backfeed going up to the RV and we'll show you the problem at the front of our Jeep here. With our Jeep in tow mode running behind the RV, we'll go ahead and check with the brake pedal being pushed down. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part number 90195. We'll be doing this in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-and-Play Direct Fit Wiring Harness, part number 3045-P, designed to plug into the Jeep Grand Cherokee tow port. It displays a no trailer connection until we plug it in. When it's connected, we'll see it boot up. It indicates we're in Boost 1 trailer wiring connected. We can adjust the gain as necessary or go through the menu display for the brake type. more

We're going to be installing this in conjunction with the direct fit wiring harness or adapter, part number C51446. Now to begin our install we're first going to take the direct fit pigtail with the matching plug and plug directly into the manufacturer's brake controller tow port. Once we click and lock it in place we can go ahead and route the pigtail. Keep in mind to stay away from any moving components such as the gas, brake, or parking brake pedal. Once I have it routed into position, simply use a zip tie to secure it as necessary. To be in position you'll route it near where you're going to mount your brake controller. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2004 Jeep Wrangler- Video
Today, on our 2004 Jeep Wrangler, well be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885 in conjunction with the Etrailer Brake Controller install kit, part number ETBC7. Using the hardware and bracket provided, we can secure the 7-pole bracket to the new 7-pole connector. The 7-pole connector will have both a four flat and seven blade trailer connection points. Well that bolts and nuts provided to secure the 7-pole bracket to our new 7-pole. Now, as we have our fasteners installed finger tight, well go ahead and run them down to secure the bracket.Next, we can go ahead and take the bracket and secure it directly to the hitch-mounted bracket. Now that our 7-pole is secured to the hitch, we can start connecting our wires. more

Today on our 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, well be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885. Well be using the eTrailer Brake Controller Install Kit, part number ETBC7 as this vehicle is not equipped with the necessary wiring to hook up the brake controller. Were going to start at the rear of the vehicle with our 7-pole connector. Using the bracket and hardware provided with the install kit, well go ahead and secure the bracket directly to the 7-pole connector. Take the bracket, slide it over the wiring, and then to place lining up the predrilled holes.Then, take the hardware, drop it down through the 7-pole, and secure it with nut. The star washer or serrated side of the nut will face the bracket. more

Hopkins Endurance Flex Coil Trailer Connector Adapter Installation - 2007 Jeep Liberty- Video
Today on our 2007 Jeep Liberty we'll be installing the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector with Nite-Glow, 7-pole to 4-pole in the 8-foot long, part number HM47043. To begin with, you'll want to stretch out the cord, making sure there's no kinks or knots in it. You'll plug the 7-pin into the back of the motor home. You'll put the 4-pin round into the connection on the towed vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and test the lights to make sure that they're functioning properly. As you will see, the running lights work, as well as the right and left blinker, as well as the stop lights. Blue Ox Towing Accessories Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Blue Ox Towing Accessory Kit for Aventa LX Tow Bars, part number BX88231. Now when you first start out you want to make sure that you do a series of S turns to make sure that the tow bar arms are fully extended and lock into position. Now we'll go ahead and route our 4-flat wiring to the rear of the vehicle. When routing your wire you want to make sure you stay away from any areas that may become hot, have moving parts, or have sharp edges as all of these could easily damage the wire. Now we're going to go ahead and use an old section of air line tubing to help us route our wire to the rear of the vehicle. We'll go ahead and tape our wire here to our air line tubing to help us pull it underneath the skid plate. more
