Thule Trunk Bike Racks Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Gateway 3 bike rack on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. So if we do have only a need for only two bikes to be hauled to and fro, we have a two bike version available here at etrailer.com.So this is going to be a really good solution for you if you don't want to mess with a roof rack or don't have the capabilities of getting a hitch on your vehicle. If you need to get bikes, this is going to be the way to go. The nice thing about this is it fits really well on our Jetta, but it'll fit on other vehicles too. So if you have multiple vehicles, sometimes you take one, sometimes they take the other, this can work on mostly any vehicle. more

Evangeline: Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com and today we are looking at the Hollywood Racks Express Trunk Bike Rack here on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. So this is a great option, especially if maybe you don't have a hitch on your Jetta and you still want to carry around bike racks. This is also very quick and easy to use. So the way our bike is mounted to this bike rack here are by these straps, so when you do have your bike up there, you want to strap them down to these rubber straps and you can see how they hold them in place just like that. And we have one, two straps at the top. This also comes with this extra strap here that is attached to the bike rack, and this really helps hold the bike in and secure and prevent sway while you're on the road. more

Speaker 1: Today with the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, we're going to be test fitting the Yacama Hangout 2 bike rack. This is going to be part number Y02637. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here.And this is pretty much more of a kind of a bare bones style bike rack. We're going to have two cradles here and these do move back and forth and side to side as needed for loading and unloading. It's going to hold your bike at three points. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2017 Volkswagen Jetta, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Fullback two bike rack, part number Y02634. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.Starting at the end and working our way inward, we have the Yakima bottle opener on one of the ends of the arms here, which is pretty common for most of their products. On the other side, we have this integrated cable lock. That'll reach out and wrap around the rear most bike, attach to this point here, and lock it into place to secure your bikes once they're installed.Moving on to the cradles here. They are stationary, meaning they don't move back and forth or side to side, but they do have this TPE padding at the base here, which is going to act as kind of a shock absorber for your frame while you're traveling to make sure it stays intact and doesn't get any scratches or abrasions on it. more

Today on our 2009 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of Thule Passage trunk mount 2 bike rack. That part number is TH910XT. Now we already have our bike secured down. First we're going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 straps, 2 on our frame and 1 as our anti-sway strap in the back. We're going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release those. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have three points of contact with the bike's frame. We're going to have two straps up at the top here. One off to the side here, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth possibly hitting the bikes in front of it or the bike rack itself. Also at the front here, we have integrated cable lock, which you can install the lock core here, wrap it around the front bike, attach to this point for additional security. more

Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. It's a good habit to put the straps back in place once you've removed them so that they're not lost on the road. Now with the bike rack in this position, measuring from the bumper we've added about 20 inches to the rear of our vehicle. more

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, we're doing a test fit of the Yakuma Half Back 2 Trunk Mount Bike Rack. That part number is Y02636. Now, we already have our bike secured down, first we're going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 zip strips, 2 on our frame here at the top and one as our anti-sway in the back. We will push down on the tabs on either side and pull our strip out to release our bike . We'll hang on to those so we can take our bike off of our rack and set it off to the side .. Then, with our bike out of the way, I always suggest you replace your strips so you don't lose our damage them ... more

Today marks 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, Were doing a test of the Yakima full back 2 trunk mount 2 bike rack. That part number is Y02634. Now we already have our bike secured down, first going to show you how we do that. We have two cradles in place with three straps. Two on our frame and one as our anti-sway. Now according to Yakima, these are thier zip strips. To release those strips, we're just going to push on the sides here and pull them out and we'll save this one here for last. more
