Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains Review - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to install part number PWPLC1142. This is a Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains. It's always a good idea to lay out your chains and get familiar with them, and it's also a good idea to practice using them before actually needing them in the ice and snow. We'll point out a few things about the chains first. First off, the chain is a low profile design, so it's good for vehicles with close tolerance between the tire and the components, and the fender well. Now, the links here that actually touch the ice and snow, is a square-link design. Pretty common, but effective. When you install it, you want to double check on the crossbars here of the chain, that this point here is away from your tire. So we flip it over, it's all smooth, and you want that facing towards your tire, and the end of the hook here towards your ice and snow. You want to make sure the catch here for the chain, is on the outside of the tire, and this hook here on the other side will go towards the inside edge of the tire. Let's put the chain on top of the tire. Scoot it across the top, make sure it's even on the sides. For reference on the tire size, we're working with a P225 by 65 by R17. As you put your chain on, you can double check to make sure we've got clearance by putting your hand between the chain and the suspension components to make sure nothings hung up. You can see right here how this part is against the tire, that's what what want. more
