Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is attached to the rack, there's going to be 2 points of contact with no frame contact at all. We're going to have a wheel strap here in the back and towards the front it's going to grip it by the fork mounts of your wheel. This is lockable for additional security as well as this is lockable at the top here so it will secure your bike rack as well as your bike to the roof rack. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Thule ThruRide roof bike rack, Part Number TH535. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. You're going to have 2 points of contact with your bikes to keep this attached to the rack. You're going to have a wheel strap towards the back here, and also at the front, it's going to be held in place by this fork mount skewer at the front. This does also work with thru-axle bikes, meaning this actual skewer can be taken out. We'll show you how to do that later. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Thule Circuit XT Bike Rack for fork mounts, part number TH526XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all. We're going to have a wheel strap at the back here, and up at the front, it grips it by the forks using this skewer which you can pop out this portion here and switch it out with a lock so it will be nice and secure on your roof. Let's take the bike off and set it aside. To do that we'll take, with our wheel strap, we'll take the tab here, push it in like so, and then holding onto our bike while we do this, we'll open up the skewer by popping up this lever, and lifting it up and out. How this actually attaches to your vehicle here, close this up. Pop this up here, and this actually .. We actually have to remove the skewer here to pop this portion up, and this will actually clamp down around your front crossbar by wrapping around this portion of the clamp here. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Inno Multi-Fork Lock Roof Bike Rack, part number INA392. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this is actually installed on the rack, there's going to be two points of contact with your bike with no frame contact at all. We're going to have a wheel strap at the rear here, and up at the front it's going to grip it by the fork mounts with this skewer here. This is already locked into place so your bike is going to be secure when this is installed. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that, with the wheel strap in the back we'll push in on the tab on the side which will release the strap. Then at the front, when you loosen this up, you always want to make sure you grip the bike so it doesn't go swaying one way or the other. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Inno Fork Lock Bike Carrier, part number INA391. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How the bike is actually to the rack, we're going to have two points of contact with no frame contact at all. We're going to have a wheel strap towards the rear here and towards the front, it's going to grip it by the bikes forks using this skewer here, that is actually locked down right now, with this covering plate. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that, with the wheel strap, we'll push in on this tab, undo that, we'll unlock our top portion here, open that up, then we'll take the skewer and open it up by loosening up this handle like so. more

How this is attached to the bike rack, we're going to have three points of contact. We're going to have two wheel straps in front and the rear and we're also going to have this wheel hook up at the front so you don't have to actually have to worry about anything like fork mouths where you have to take off the front tire and the whole bike is going to be up there. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. We'll start with the wheel straps. You'll push in the tab here on the side, like so, and do the same at the front. more

We already have a bike attached on the rack lets go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How it attaches to the rack, we are going to have two points of contact with the bike with absolutely no frame contact at all. We are going to have this skewer up at the front that's going to hold the bike by it's fork mouths and it is lockable for a little bit of security. Towards the ear here, we have this wheel strap. Lets go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. To do that with the rear wheel strap you just push it on this tab here, this will come lose. Moving on to the front, you'll unlock the skewer pop it out like so, you'll turn it to the right to tighten it down, you'll have to loosen it to accommodate different forks. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape we're testing the RockyMounts brass knuckles roof mountain bike rack part number RKY1202. As you can see here we'd already had our bike on the rack. I'm just going to show you how to put the bike on and screw it, and how we put the rack on. Now back here and up front the tyres are held in by this two straps but the front tyre is also held in by this bar here. To secure the bar down you just push up to release it. Push down on this blue button and push up. It is a little stiff so it may take a minute. You want to hang on to your bike because it will wobble after that, just carry it down and just push until it stops clicking. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Frontloader roof mountain bike rack part number Y02103. I want to have and situated a ladder here, I'm only 5'2 so if you're shorter you might want to have handy as well. That way I can easily handle the side down. Go ahead and start by placing the rack on top of our vehicle. Put this one on kind of clamps. This clamping style clamps together like this so for me it helps to actually make sure the back one is in the right position first. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting this Swagman Upright roof-mounted bike rack, part number S64720. I went ahead and situated a ladder here next to the vehicle. I'm only five two, so I'm pretty short and I need the extra height. We'll start by placing the rack on top of our vehicle over top of our bars. With this particular rack they include for the front mounting point two U-bolts with four wing nuts. So we'll go ahead and take the wing nuts off of one of the U-bolts, thread it underneath of our rack and through the holes. I'll go ahead and get that started. more

Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Sprint roof mounted bike rack, part number TH528. We'll begin our test fit by placing the rack on top of our vehicle. We'll go ahead and adjust this forward by sliding it. That way it'll lay on top of the crossbar. We're going to be test fitting this today on the factory roof rack system on our Escape. I'll go ahead and grab a step, that way I have a little bit more room, reach. What we're going to do, once you have it in the right position, is take the T 00:00:43, get it into its correct place on the front there. more

Swagman Upright Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, were going to be test fitting the Swagman Upright Roof Bike Rack, part number S64720. With our Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack system already installed on our Escape, well begin our test fit by placing our bike rack directly onto our crossbars. Here at the front, were going to bring 2 of the metal U bolts around the underside of our crossbar, fit them through the head of our carrier and hold them in place using 2 of the wing nuts. We then tighten all 4 of them down. With our front secure, well move to the rear. This time, were going to place the U bolt through the rack, being sure that it comes out on both sides of our crossbar. Well bring the metal plate up to the U bolt, being sure that both sides of the U bolt go through it. more

Yakima FrontLoader Roof Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, were going to be test fitting the Yakima FrontLoader. A wheel-mount, roof bike rack, with part number Y02103. With our Yakima Rail Grab Roof Rack System already on the Escape, were going to begin our test fit by placing our bike rack directly onto our crossbars. Here at our front crossbar, well place our clamp down around our bar. Well have the two outside legs on the front, and the one middle leg at the rear. We can then tighten the black T-handle here, to secure it to our rack. With the front secure, well move to the rear. Here were going to loosen the black T-handle, remove the T-bolt from the clamp, bring the lower-jaw of our clamp around the underside of our crossbar, reinsert our T-bolt through the slot, and tighten it down with the black T-handle. With our rack secured to our vehicle, its now time to load our bike. more

Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, were going to be test fitting the Yakima Forklift and Fork Mount Roof Bike Rack with part number Y02098. With our Yakima rail grab roof rack system already installed on the Escape, were going to begin our test fit by placing our bike rack directly on to our crossbars. Here at the front, were going to remove the securer, slide back the black plastic cover, and loosen our black T-handle. Well then remove the T-bolt from the lower half of our clamp, and bring it around our crossbar, reinsert our T-bolt to the appropriate slot, then well tighten it down with the black T-handle. Well then slide our black cover forward, reinserting the securer, then we can move to the rear. Here were going to loosen the black T-handle, remove the T-bolt from the slot, bring our clamp around our crossbar, reinsert our T-bolt and tighten it down with the black T-handle. With our rack secured, its time to load up our bike. more

Thule Big Mouth Roof Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Escape

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape we'll be test fitting the Thule Bigmouth Roof Mounted Bike Rack, part number TH599XTR. With the Thule Crossroads Roof Rack system on our vehicle we'll begin our test fit by placing our bike rack directly onto our roof rack system. Here at the front platform we'll bring our T-slots around our bar and fit our T-bolts through the appropriate slots, and using the wing nuts on top of our platform to secure them around our bar. Once we have both of those tight at the front we'll then move to the rear. We'll loosen up one of the wing nuts so we can bring our rear clamping device around our rear bar. We'll make sure that we have one bolt sitting on each side of our rear load bar. more

RockyMounts TieRod Roof Bike Rack Review - 2009 Ford Escape

Today we have a 2009 Ford Escape and were going to be test fitting the RockyMounts Tie Rod Roof Mounted Bike Carrier, part number RKY1014. Now our escape is equipped with a fold roof rack from the factory so were going to mount our tie rod directly to the factory crossbars. Well set the tie rods into place up on top of the crossbars. At the front of the bike rack, well take our rubber coated steel straps and feed them around the front crossbar securing them back into the head of the bike carrier. Well take an Allen wrench and tighten down the straps. With the straps in the front secure we can reinstall our cover and well also make sure that our skewer is unlocked and open. more
