So when it comes to bike racks on your truck, you've got options. You can always go with the tailgate pad, but sometimes it's just not feasible. If you've got a tonneau cover or a bed full of stuff, then the hitch is the best place to go after that. And especially with this one that we're looking at today, being a 1-bike rack, if it's just you, then why bother with a tailgate pad Even on the smaller sizes, they can accommodate up to two bikes and will take up almost half your tailgate, sometimes blocking things like your backup camera. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2021 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hey everybody, Zach here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at the Saris MHS Two Bike platform style rack on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma. This is gonna be a really cool bike rack from Saris. I really like the double wheel mount style. Traditionally, bike racks would either grab the top tube with a hook that comes down or you'd see just one hook that comes in and grabs right before the fork. This way, this allows us to get bigger bikes on there but what I really run into an issue is having my handlebars interfere with the seat of the second bike that I put on. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman XC2 hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. It's gonna be a two-bike platform style bike rack capable of supporting two bikes up to 35 pounds a piece, holding onto them exclusively from the center mast frame hook right here. No straps or anything else so this is the only place that's gonna hold onto your bike and it does make frame contact so if you wanna use your carbon frame bikes, we'd recommend against it 'cause it could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. And if you have a really aggressive alternative frame you might have to pick up a bike adapter bar. A really simple entry level bike rack. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Curt Premium hitch bike rack and how it fits on our 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The Curt Premium is a hanging style bike rack capable of supporting four bikes up to 180 pounds total. It's going to hold onto our bikes primarily by the top tube with one anti-sway cradle here in the back. It does taper down towards the end to accommodate some kids' bikes, but if you do have an aggressive alternative frame style bike you might have to pick up a bike adapter bar to make it work. Also, if you have carbon frame bikes, we'd recommend using against this type of rack because it does make that primary frame contact and could potentially damage your frame while you're driving. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Hi, it's Evangeline from etrailer.com and today we are looking at the Thule Helium 2 Bike Platform Style Rack here on our 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Now, this is an awesome bike rack, especially if your priorities is something that is light and easy to use, it has your premium features like tilt the way and folding, but it only weighs 43 pounds. So, one of the first features that we'll show is the tilt away feature. So, you just press that lever there and let it drop down. Now for our Tacoma here, you tilt the ways that you can lower your tailgate, but as you can see, it makes contact with that bike right there. So, you can't lower your tailgate all the way, but still a fair enough of space just to get in there, get whatever you need to have your truck bed without having to take off the bike completely.So, that's just something to think about. more

John: Hey guys, John here from etrailer.com and today on our 2019 Toyota Tacoma we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 base bike rack. This is designed for two inch by two inch trailer hitch receivers and it can carry up to two bikes weighing 60 pounds each. This is a great way to transport your bikes to your favorite destination while freeing up the space here in your bed. One thing that I always think when I see a pickup with a bike rack is why don't you just toss them in the bed, but if you're carrying maybe a cooler or some other cargo or perhaps you have a nice bike that you don't want to make frame contact with, this is a great solution for that.As you can see, it has a ratcheting arm and a ratcheting strap, so there's no frame contact at all, to get your bikes, maybe with a sensitive frame or a nice paint job to your destination safely. Few specs on this bike rack, the trace here can accommodate up to 4.8 inch wide tires and a max wheel base of 48 inches, the wheel base is from the center of one axle to the center of the other. As far as wheel diameter goes, 25 inch to 29 inches, but we do have an adapter here at etrailer.com that can accommodate 20 to 24 inch wheel diameters if you have a smaller wheel.One of the highlights of this bike rack I really like, is the integrated cable lock. more

Today on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Thule Camber Hanging Style Tube Bike Rack.So, I've already got it in place here, just to give you a good idea what it looks like. It's going to hold our bikes with three points of contact. We've got two straps for our top tube here, then we've got one for our seat post tube. This one for our seat post tube is going to help cut down on some of that sway during transport. Help cut down on bike to bike contact, bike to bike rack contact and bike to vehicle contact.Ont thing that I forgot to mention already, is that what's unique about this bike rack is that it is motor home approved, so we can use it just behind our motor home. Today on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be doing a test on the Thule Helium Pro hanging-style two bike rack. Today, on our 2014 Toyota Tacoma, we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Thule Apex XT hanging style two bike rack.As you can see, I've already got it installed here just to give you a good idea what it looks like and how it's gonna work with our Tacoma.Now, right away what's unique about this bike rack is that it is also motor home approved, so if you have a motor home, it's gonna be nice and solid, excuse me, and it's gonna be great for carrying two bikes on the back of your motor home.Now, with that being said, it's also one of the only bike racks out there that tilts away that is motor home approved, so for our motor home, we can tilt it away to gain access to our ladder, our spare tire or any other accessories we may have mounted to our bumper. When it's mounted to our Tacoma, we can tilt it away to access our tailgate area.But, to tilt it away, you need to have the bike removed, so just keep that in mind and I'll show you how that works here in a little bit.But, the way it holds our bikes is with three points of contact. We've got two straps that come over our top tube and the one that goes around our seat post tube. Now, the one that goes around our seat post tube is gonna help prevent some of that sway during transport, prevent bike to bike contact, bike to bike rack contact and bike to vehicle contact.Also, another bike, excuse me, another interesting thing that this bike rack has is a cable lock built into the mast. That way we can leave our bikes unattended and not have to worry about them being stolen.Let's go ahead and take our bike off though. To do so, we'll push on the little tab and guide that strap out.We'll set that aside. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be doing a test fit on the Kuat Transfer 1 Bike Platform Rack, part number TS01B. With a bike installed, let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.To start, like most platform racks, this can tilt away from your vehicle. We're just going to come to this foot pedal right here and push down, and we can tilt it away like so. Now, I will point out that when we come to open up our tailgate, we do come in contact with our bike as we get farther down, as you can see, just like that. So you can't open up your tailgate all the way if you have a bike installed, however, you can open it up enough to go to reach under it and open up your tonneau cover, and then you can get whatever you need out of your truck.To tilt it back up, we're just going to grab a hold of the bike rack and tilt it up, til it latches just like that. We have two different points where our bike is secured. more

Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima SwingDaddy 4 Bike Rack, part number Y02464. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first and most important feature about this bike rack is the fact that this can swing away from the vehicle, so you gain full access to your tailgate. To do that, we'll start in the back here with this knob, loosen it up like so. It's not going to come all the way off, but you know when it's loosened up. Come back to the front, there's this gray knob here right by the mast. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first and most prominent feature of this rack is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, we come to this switch up at the front, we'll pull it towards us holding onto the bike rack and letting it come down. Unfortunately, we can't open the tailgate all the way with this as it's going to come in contact with the bike or the bike rack. more

Yakima HoldUp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be test-fitting the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack, part number Y02443. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now, the first and most prominent feature of this bike rack is the fact that it can tilt away from your vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, we'll hold onto the bike rack, you come to this red knob up at the front, pull it out, let it come down. Now, unfortunately, we can't have full access to our tailgate here, as it will come in contact with the bike, but you do have some room to get some of the things you may need. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today in our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule T2 Pro Bike Rack. Part Number TH9034. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go and take a closer look and show out some of the features. The first and most important feature of this is the fact that it can tilt away from your vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that we have this grey handle here that we'll pull towards us to let it lower, which is a little more convenient as opposed to other racks where you have the handles up towards the front here and they're just a little more awkward to get it to tilt away. Let's go ahead and do that and we'll pull forward, towards us then let it come down. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2012 Toyota Tacoma we're doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex Hanging Style 4 Bike Rack. That part number is TH9029XT. Now we already have our bike attached. We're first going to show you how we do that. We have 2 cradles in place with 3 straps altogether, 2 on our frame here and one as our anti-sway in the back. We're going to start by pulling down and lifting up to release those. more

RockyMounts Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2012 Toyota Tacoma we're doing a test fit of the RockyMounts SplitRail platform-style 2-bike rack. That part number is RKY1140. Now we already have our bike secured down. We're first going to show you one of the key features. If we come here to the end, we're going to pull on the handle down here, pull it out towards the end of the bike rack. We're able to tilt our rack away from our vehicle with our bikes fully loaded. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma TS03B- Video
Today in our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test fitting the Kuat Transfer, the Transfer is a three bike platform style rack. They designed this to be used with 1 1/4 or with 2-inch hitches. The part number on this is TS03G. A really nice feature on the rack is going to be the tilt away. Just a standard lever there will push it, and allow this rack to tilt out and away from the vehicle. Now it looks pretty tight here, it doesn't look as if we're going to get full . No, we're going to come to about here before we start running into interference issues, and I don't think that a different type of bike is going to make much of difference here. If you need access fully into the back of this truck it's not a good option. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma TH9031XT- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we've got out the Thule Vertex Swing and we're testing it. The Vertex Swing is a swing-away style folding 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use in 2 inch hitches. Part number on it is TH9031XT. Now of course, the big feature about this rack, it's got a lot of great features, but that biggest one is going to be the swing-away. To make that happen, we're going to loosen the large black T bolt. Once that's out far enough, you'll see it kind of tip back. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test fitting the Swagman Dispatch. The Dispatch is a 2 bike platform style rack. It's been designed for use in 2-inch hitches. Part number on this is S64684. You'll see here that the dispatch is going to hold our bike in place using 2 wheel cradles with straps, and also a frame hook. Now the wheel cradles with straps themselves. Easy to operate, you just press down the cam, pull the strap. more

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Toyota Tacoma- Video
Today on our 2016 Toyota Tacoma, we're test-fitting the Kuat Envy. This is a platform-style, 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use in two inch hitches. Part number on it is N105-107. This rack is a really nice, lightweight, aluminum rack, as far as the 4 bike racks go. It's heavy, but not as heavy as those steel racks. A great feature of it, it's going to hold our bike and all of our bikes in position, without ever making contact with the frame. more
