Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. and today we have the Yakima OnRamp two-bike electric bike rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the OnRamp is really designed for those heavy electric bikes because you have a 66 pound weight capacity per bike, and you have a ramp included and attached to the rack. Now there are some other features to this bike rack, and we are gonna focus on the CX-9 here today. We'll talk about things like how close it gets to the vehicle, and with the ground clearance, do you really need a ramp But another of its features that it has is the tilt away feature, so we'll start there. So the Swagman Current is designed for the heavier weight capacity but also has the simple traditional style of carrying around your bikes with that simple hook in the center. It has its pros and cons to this style like staying affordable but also staying versatile. And it also has some downsides like this does not fold up on the Mazda CX9 because it comes really close to the vehicle. So we'll talk about that and then that way you can get the best fit for you and your bikes and your car. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today I have a Swagman XTC2 TILT away bike rack and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Mazda CX9. So the XTC 2 tilt takes the simplicity of the XC and the affordability of an entry level bike rack but it also adds a tilt away feature for if you want better access to your hatch even when your bikes are on. So it is popular because of its low price point while still getting the job done but it also has its downsides as well. With the Mazda CX9, it gets really close to the vehicle meaning your bikes will be close to the vehicle. So let's talk about features like that. Now, the main thing with the XTC2 TILT is that it tilts away. more

Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we have the Hollywood Racks Destination E electric bike rack, and we'll take a look at how it fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the Destination E is really designed for those heavy electric bikes, but it can also work with other bikes in different shapes and sizes. Now we are going to focus on our Mazda CX-9 here just to see how well it fits with this car. I think, it's like a medium to okay fit because of our ground clearance. The ramp this comes with does come in handy with those 70-pound bikes, and we do have clearance for our hatch, but also has a little bit of extra effort to get to those features. So that feature that I mentioned was the tilt-away feature. more

CURT Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer and today we have the Curt Premium 4 Hanging Rack and we'll take a look at how this fits our 2022 Mazda CX-9. So the Curt Premium is a hanging rack that I would recommend for people that are taking around family bikes, as well as maybe your mountain bikes because of the unique way this is designed. Now, when possible, I do recommend taking a look at the platform racks we have available for your CX-9, but I also understand that the hanging rack is preferred by someone because it takes up less space, as well as is lighter than most racks. So, here we have the four bike version. This is also available as a five bike version, which is awesome if you want to get more bikes around. With this in place, you have one and two of your normal size cradles, but notice how the arms pivot into where they're closer together. more

So the GuideRail is actually one of my favorite bike racks, just because it has a dual wheel mount system, making it super fast to load and unload your bikes. But also it has a weight capacity for electric bikes. You can put carbon fiber frame bikes and in my opinion I think it looks really good. Now with the Mazda CX-9, we've actually found a little bit of an issue here with the GuideRail. more

So, this rack is one of my favorites when it comes to the entry-level platform racks, just because it's at the price point where you can still get a solid platform rack without having to pay the premium. And amongst those entry level racks, it has some nice features, like this versatile frame mount mast. But, the downside to this is that you can't do some things, like tilt it away. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Mazda CX-9- Video
Hi everyone, it's here at etrailer. And today we're looking at the Kuat Sherpa 2.02 bike rack here on our 2016 Mazda CX9. Now the Kuat Sherpa is an awesome stylish bike rack, which is great for most of your bikes, especially if you have carbon 3M bikes, or if you need something that has locks and is kind of middle of the road, not as expensive as say the Kuat NV but still offers you all the premium features you could ask for. So one of those features is that this can tilt away. To do so, you pull this lever right over here and you just drop that bike rack down and you'll want to tilt it away if you want to access your hatch. So, as you can see here on our Mazda CX9, we actually have plenty of clearance between our door and our handlebars, allowing us to get into our trunk, we can grab our bags, or grab our helmets or grab a water, all of that without having to take our bike rack or our bike off. more

Hey everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby and today we're taking a look, at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack Carrier here, on our 2016 Mazda CX-9. Now it's gonna be an awesome way of getting a lot of bikes, to your destination guys. Now right at the gate it can look a little messy, you have a lot of straps, got a lot of pivot points. However when you really start seeing how well the job, it starts holding your bike on, I think you are becoming a bigger fan, just like I have been. Taking a look too, one thing I really like, you are getting reflectors, right on the very end of this guy, I don't think it's standard enough across the industry and I love to point them out because it's just nice to go ahead and make sure that our friends and family can get home safe, whether be it from a long drive at night or on one of those long road trips, can be nice to go ahead and make sure people to know, exactly where we are, especially being in an all black rack, like here today. more

Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mazda CX-9 INH540- Video
Today on our 2018 Mazda CZ9, we're gonna be test fitting the Inno vertical hang four-bike hanging style rack. For inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, which is part number INH540. Now this bike rack is pretty unique as a different way of porting your bikes when compared to your typical hanging style racks that have the two arms except they're parallel like this. This one has the two vertical arms like this that are perpendicular to the ground and it holds your bike at the intersection of the cross tube and the down tube of your bike, right there. Kind of wedges itself down and then down here, we're gonna have another cradle that's supporting about the midsection of the down tube. And you've got two straps holding it in. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Mazda CX-9- Video
Today on our 2018 Mazda CX9 we're gonna be doing a test fit on the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider two bike platform rack, which is part number HR200Z.The hitch mounted bike rack is a great accessory to use to haul up to two bikes to your destination. It's gonna secure your bikes at three different points. We have a hook and loop strap on the back wheel right here securing the back wheel into the cradle. We're gonna have the same type of strap in the front, over here. Both of those straps just pull down on your tire on your wheel keeping it down on the cradle.Then, up top, we're gonna have this padded frame hook, which is putting downward force on top of this cross-tube right here forcing it down into the trays. Now, that padding's gonna help protect your bike finish from having scratches or abrasions. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2015 Mazda CX-9, we're going to be taking a look at our ROLA Convoy, two-bike platform rack. That's part number 59308-2. This is a two-bike rack, but one of the main features it its modular design, which basically just means that this second platform can be removed if you only want to have one bike. Say you're going on a solo trip and you only need the one, you can remove this second rack and be lighter weight.It also features the tilt-a-way design, so we're going to remove our pin there, tilt it up, and pull back. That's going to give us plenty of room to access our rear hatch to get to our equipment or other supplies. We can raise our rack, just reversing the process. more

Today on our 2016 Mazda CX9 we're doing a test fit of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider 2 Platform Style 2-Bike Rack. That part number is HR1000. Now we already have our bike secured down. I'm first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. I'm going to come to the middle portion here, and we're going to remove both of our pins and clips at the bottom. With those removed we can actually tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle, and in this position we are going to gain full access into our back hatch area to get anything in our out that we may need. What's great about this is that we don't have to worry about removing our bike rack or our bikes just to gain that access. more

Today on our 2012 Mazda CX-9 we'll be doing a test for the Kuat Transfer 3 Bike Rack. That's part number TS03G. It's also available as a two-bike rack, part number TS02G. I've already got it loaded up on the back of the CX-9, just to give you a good idea of what it looks like and how it secures our bike. It actually secures our bike in two spots. We have this large wheel hook going over our front wheel putting down pressure into the front wheel cradle here, and then we have a rear wheel strap going over our rear wheel. more

Today on our 2012 Mazda CX-9 we will be doing a test fit on the Thule Vertex 4 bike rack. That is part number TH9029XT. We already got it loaded up on the CX-9 to give you an idea of what it looks like and how it is going to secure our 4 bikes. It actually secures our bikes with 3 straps. We have the 2 straps for the top tube here, and then for our seat post too, we have an anti-sway strap. That is going to help prevent a lot of the sway and the bike roll around the road as well as prevent bike-to-bike contact and bike-to-vehicle contact. Let's go ahead and take it off. more

Today on our 2012 Mazda CX9 we'll be doing a test fit of the Swagman XC 2-bike rack. That's part number S64650. Today on our 2015 Mazda CX9, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Swagman Trailhead. This is going to be our hanging style four bike rack, part number S63380. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here and mounted to the back of our rack on the back of our vehicle, so you can get a better understanding of how it's going to correspond with yours. The first thing we're going to do is get a couple measurements. Our closest distance will be that first one from the T handle and thumb screw here on the back to the back side of the bumper. That distance looks like it's going to be about 5 inches, about 4 7/8 inches. more

Today on our 2015 Mazda CX-9 we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima Full Tilt. Now this is going to be your hanging style 4-bike rack, part number Y02462. As you can see, we're already got our bike up on our cradle arms so you can get a better idea of what it's going to look like on the back of your Mazda. Now, first things first, we're going to go ahead and get a few measurements, starting off with our closest distance. That's going to be from the front side of the rack here to the back side of the bumper at our closest contact point if it we're to come in too far. It's going to be about 4 inches. The overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle, from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms, is going to be about 37-1/2 inches, and our ground clearance from the bottom side of the fin is going to be about 9-1/2 inches. more

Today on our 2015 Mazda CX-9, we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT Premium 4. This is going to be our hanging style 4-bike rack, part number C18064. As you can see, we've already got our bike up on our rack and strapped down to our cradle arm so you can get a better idea of what it's going to look like on the back of your Mazda. We'll start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be the first measurement, from the front side of the rack to the back side of the bumper. It looks like it's going to be about 3 inches from the backside to these tabs and the T handle here on the front. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be from the back bumper to the rear of the cradle arms, at about 33 inches. Our ground clearance from the bottom side of the shank, about 11 inches. Now that we've gotten those measurements out of the way, let's go ahead and talk about how our bike is secured to the rack. more

Thule Parkway 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Mazda CX-9- Video
Today we have a 2010 Mazda CX-9 and we'll be test fitting the Thule Parkway Two-Hitch Mounted Bike Carrier, part number TH958. To mount the carrier on our vehicle, we'll insert the shank into the receiver on our hitch. We'll line up the pin holes, insert our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down. We have 11 inches of ground clearance from the bottom of our bike carrier to the ground. From the farthest point on the bumper to the closest part of the bike rack, measures about five inches of rear clearance. Next we'll check for rear vehicle access. more

Yakima StickUp 2 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Mazda CX-9- Video
Alright, today on this 2010 Mazda CX9, well be test fitting the Yakima Stickup 2 Bike Rack part number Y02420. Now to begin our test fit, well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pinhole and install our anti-rattle bol0074. With our bolt tight, bike rack to secured to our vehicle. With our bike rack secured to the vehicle, well give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at bike rack is 11 inches and from closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle in the stored position is 1 inches. Well now unfold our bike rack platform and give you a few more measurements. more

Alright, today on this 2010 Mazda CX9, were gonna do a test fit of part number Y02433 from Yakima. One important note about this bicycle rack is that its designed for 2-inch hitches only. Well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch; well tighten down the anti-rattle bolt and install the lock on the other side. Alright, now we can go ahead and get some clearance measurements. The closest point to the bumper to bike rack is 3 inches away. A few things to know about this bicycle rack is that it can work with 1 -inch receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2. A few notes about this bicycle rack that you need to know is that this will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2, however with a class 1 receiver hitch it is limited to carrying just two bicycles. Now, this will also work with 2 inch receiver hitch with the included spacer and thats what well be using today. Well start off our test fit by installing the bike rack into the hitch, well tighten down the anti rattle bolt and install the safety pin on the other side. Okay, now I can go ahead and get some clearance measurements. From the bike rack to the bumper were looking at 8 inches. more

A few points to know about this bicycle rack that it will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches both class 1 and class 2, however with a class 1 receiver hitch it is limited to carrying just two bicycles. Now this will also work with a 2 inch receiver hitch with the included spacer. And on this particular vehicle well be working with the 2 inch receiver hitch. now, well start off our test fit by installing our bike rack into the hitch, well make sure that the integrated hitch pin is out of the way while we slide it in and then well let it snap into place and then well go ahead and tighten down the anti rattle know. Today on this 2010 Mazda CX9 were going to do a test fit of part #: A30901 from Sport Rack. A few things to know about this bike rack that it will work with inch and a quarter receiver hitches, both class 1 and class 2, this will also work with 2 inch receiver hitches with the included spacer. To start off our test fit well install the bike rack into the hitch and then tighten down the anti rattle bolt and put the safety pin on the other side. Next, well unfold the bike rack and get some clearance measurements. From the bumper to the bike rack looks like 11 inches. Ground clearance at the very back is 16 inches. more

SportRack Escape 3 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Mazda CX-9- Video
Today we have with us a 2010 Mazda CX9 and well be test fitting the Sport Rack Escape 3 hitch mounted bike carrier part #: A30403. To mount the carrier on our vehicle well insert the shank of the bike rack into the receiver hitch. well line up the pinholes and insert and tighten down our anti rattle bolt. With that done our bike rack is mounted on the vehicle and we can check for rear vehicle access. Well pull the pin down at the bottom of the bike rack and lower the bike rack to make sure we can still access our cargo area. With that done we can tilt our bike rack back up, reinsert the pin and prepare to load a bike. more

Pro Series Q-Slot Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2010 Mazda CX-9- Video
Today on our 2010 Mazda CX9 well be test fitting the ProSeries Q-slot platform style bike carrier part #: PS63134. Now, to begin our test fit well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, well line up the hitch pinhole and install our hitch pin. And with that our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Now we can go ahead and give you a few measurements: our ground clearance at the bike rack is 15 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 7 inches. Well now fold the platform down and open our cargo door. And as you can see we can gain full access of the cargo area with this bike rack. more
