Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today in this 2013 Honda Odyssey, we're going to be testing the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack. Part number TH912XTR. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look. Now, how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 3 points of contact with the bike's frame: we're going to have two straps up top here, and one strap of. One strap of to the side which is going to access an anti-sway strap, to keep it from going back and forth, hitting the bike rack and possibly the bike in front of it. Let's go and take the bike off and set it aside. Now once you remove the straps it's always a good habit to actually put them back in place because you don't want them flapping around when you're driving, you don't want to loose them while you're driving. Now a fact, once you get into situations in which you're in close court, such as parking garages or parking in general, these arms do fold down but before I do that, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements. The first is going to be how much distance is added to the vehicle once the bike rack is installed, and we go ahead and measure from the bumper. So, from this point down, we have about 27 inches. For ground clearance, which is going to be this point right here, it's about 10 1/2 inches, and then the closest point is going to be this gray lever here, that's going to be about 3 inches. Now, as I said earlier, these do fold down, you just go to this gray lash here, lift up, let it fall, and once you hear that click, they're secured in place. Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today, on this 2013 Honda Odessey we're going to be test fitting the Swagman XC2 Bike Rack, part number S64650. We already have a bike installed, let's go ahead and take a closer look. How the bike actually attaches to the rack, you're going to have wheel cradles at the bottom, but it'll actually be held into place only by one point of contact on your bikes frame. That is going to be the frame hook up here. Let's go ahead and take the bike off, and set it off to the side. To do that, the actual frame hooks, you push this button in here, and that will release it or lower it. Now, do that down here. more

Softride Element Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2013 Honda Odyssey we're going to do a test fit on the Softride Element Parallelogram. This is a folding, tilt-away-style 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. The part number on it is SR26248. Now to begin our test fit we need to slide the shank of the rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. Saris Freedom SuperClamp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2013 Honda Odyssey we're going to do a test fit on the Saris Freedom Superclamp. This is a platform-style 2-bike rack designed to hold the bikes without making contact with the frame. Part number on it is SA4025. They've designed this so we can use it with either 1-1/4" or 2" hitches, so it's got a wide variety of applications that it will work for. To begin our test fit we want to slide the shank of our rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll then line up our threaded hole with our hitch pinhole. With those in line we'll take our anti-rattle bolt which is provided, we'll slide that through and begin to thread it in. more

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today on our 2013 Honda Odyssey we're going to do a test fit on the Kuat NV. This is a platform-style 4-bike folding and tilting rack. It's been designed for use in 2" hitches. Part number in the black and chrome is N105-107. It's also available in a gun metal gray and orange as part number N101-103. To begin our test we need to slide the shank of the NV into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll slide it in far enough to line up our pinhole with our hitch pinhole. more

Kuat NV Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Honda Odyssey- Video

Today, on our 2013 Honda Odyssey, we will be test fitting the Kuat NV Aluminum Platform-Style II Bike Rack, part number N101. To begin our test fit, we will slide the shank of the carrier into the receiver tube of the hitch, line up the pinhole, install our pin and clip and then move to the rear of the shank and use the hand knob to engage our anti-rattle device. Now, we will go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements. We have a ground clearance of about 10 inches. The closest point of the carrier to the rear of the vehicle is about of an inch. We have added 11 inches to the overall length of our vehicle. more
