Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 hitch bike rack and how it fits on a 2018 Ford Escape. The Sherpa is going to be a two-bike platform style bike rack, capable of supporting up to 40 pounds per bike. It's gonna hold onto our bike primarily with these wheel hook here and one strap down at the bottom. So if you wanna mix and match your bikes, if you want to use a carbon frame bike, you can, 'cause there's no frame contact and because it doesn't make that frame contact, if you have a really aggressive alternative frame, that'll work too. One of the earliest features that I wanna show off about this rack is that it has the ability to tilt away with the bikes loaded up. more

It's going to hold onto our bikes primarily with this wheel hook here and one additional strap down at the back. So if you want to mix and match, you definitely can with this rack. If you have an alternative frame style bike with a really aggressive frame, it'll work fine. more

The NV 2.0 is a two-bike platform style bike rack, capable of supporting two bikes up to 60 pounds a piece. It's going to hold onto our bike primarily with this wheel hook here and one strap down there at the back. So if you wanna mix and match, this will accommodate your carbon frame bikes, since this is no frame contact, and alternative frame style bikes that might have a crazy design. Also, if you wanna get some kids bikes on here, there are adapters for these sold separately, but you can put those on to accommodate those two. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape- Video
Hey, it's Ethan here at etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination Two Bike Hitch Bike Rack and how it fits on our 2018 Ford Escape. It's gonna be a platform style bike rack, capable of supporting two bikes up to 35 pounds each. And it's going to be holding onto our bike primarily by these rotated padded clamps that go up and down our center mast. They do swivel and they are padded, but we still don't recommend using bikes like carbon frame bikes because it could potentially damage the frame as that's where our main point of contact is. And it's also gonna hold on with two straps, one on the back and one on the front wheel. more

That's some of the most weight capacity I've seen out of a hitch bike rack that we've tested. So it's gonna be really good for your e-bike purposes. Pretty much any bike you wanna get on here will fit. more

Saris Freedom Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2022 Ford Escape- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris Freedom on the back of our 2022 Ford Escape. The Saris Freedom is a platform style bike rack. It's gonna hold the bike in these wheel cradles at the bottom and by our frame up top it's gonna be a cradle with a strap that runs around the frame to hold it in place. Any sort of frame contact means we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes but with the way this slides up and down along the mast independently from the other one and rotates 360 degrees it is gonna be able to adapt to alternative frame bikes. The other great thing about this is that it does support a weight of 60 pounds per bike. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Saris SuperClamp EX on the back of our 2022 Ford Escape. The SuperClamp is a platform style bike rack that holds the bike in these cradles by the wheels. And then in those cradles, we've got wheel straps up, but primarily we've got two wheel hooks on each tire. So that's gonna create no frame contact on the bike, making it good for carbon frame, alternative frame. And with a 60-pound weight capacity per bike, it's gonna be good for some e-bikes too. more

Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Hollywood Rack's Destination 2 Bike Rack, on the back of our 2022 Ford Escape. The Destination is a platform-style bike rack that holds the bike in these trays. We've got some wheel straps down at the bottom that pull the bike down and in, and then we've got a cradle for the frame up top, with a strap run around the frame to hold it upright. Overall, we get a pretty strong hold on the bike, and for a more entry-level rack, this is one that I really like. I recommended it to my own brother and a lot of family members because I think it's a great value. more

Now, I got seemingly a nice little way of giving yourself a decent little hanging style rack to get your bikes to your destination or wherever the drill might be taking you. Now, you are getting a very nice subset in between these cradles and you guys can see pretty good spacing between each per bike. That way, we can go ahead, get our four bikes up on here with hopefully reducing a lot of the contact we're gonna have. Now, with any hanging style rack, they're gonna have sway, your bikes are seating, hanging on these two dual arm supports. more

Now the Sherpa is gonna be an excellent looking bike rack. Of course, it's got that Kuat style throughout it. You guys here today, we have the gunmetal gray and we have some nice little copper orange accents throughout the entirety of the platform, which is of course gonna be nice to look at, but it doesn't just stop there. You're gonna have a lot of great capabilities with the Sherpa, with the 40 pound capacity per bike. We should have no trouble getting most of the bikes that we need up on here. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ford Escape- Video
Hey, everybody, Welcome to etrailer.com, I'm Bobby, And today we're taking a look at the Swagman XC2 here on the back of our 2020 Ford Escape. Now this can be a nice simple way of giving yourself a little carrier to get your bikes to and fro wherever your destination might be taking you. Now, in my opinion, you guys are gonna see, very minimalistic rack, which is gonna give you some nice little features to go ahead and accommodate for a variety of different bikes. However, can be excellent for yourself if you want something really small and compact. It's gonna be really easy to take off your car, get it inside your apartment, wherever, smaller storage areas, the option's gonna have no trouble with it, as it does go ahead and fold up quite nicely for ourselves. So, big takeaway for me, this is gonna be great for yourself. more

Hey everyone, today we have a 2018 Ford Escape and we're going to do a test with it of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE two electric bike rack. Now this bike rack has been designed to be able to haul up to two electric bikes weighing up to 80 pounds each to and from your destination. It has a nice sturdy steel construction, it's got reinforcement so that it can handle the weight of your e-bikes while taking those impacts and vibrations at high speeds.Now, a really cool feature about this bike rack is that when it's loaded, you can tilt it away from the vehicle. And how we're going to do that is there's a safety pin on the bottom we have to pull. It's going to be just a snapper pin once we pull that off. You might have to lift up on the bike rack just a little bit. more

Hey everyone, today, we have a 2018 Ford Escape, and we're going to do a test fit of the Thule Helium Pro 3-bike hanging- style rack. Now this bike rack is going to be able to haul up to three bikes to and from the trails. It's been designed to be very lightweight, comes in at just about 20 pounds. So it's going to be very lightweight, easy to handle, you not going to have to struggle getting it into your hitch, risk straining your back with some of those heavier platform-style racks that you might run into. It's going to have an onboard cable lock, which comes from the base, pulled out from here, comes over the frame of your bikes and then locks into that spot. You use your key, lock it up and then unlock it when you want to unload your bikes. more

Hey, everyone. Today we have a 2018 Ford Escape, and we're going to do a test fit of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Se2 electric bike rack. Now this bike rack has been designed to be able to haul up to two electric bikes weighing up to 80 pounds each to and from your destination. It's made out of a sturdy steel construction. It's reinforced to be able to handle the weight of those e-bikes for when you're traveling at high speeds, all those vibrations, or even if you go over a speed bump or any high impact like that, it's going to be able to handle that weight.A cool feature about this bike rack is that it can tilt away from the vehicle to gain access to the trunk even when it's fully loaded. Now, if you do have it fully loaded with two 80-pound e-bikes, I would suggest maybe getting an extra set of hands to do this just because that weight could be a little bit dangerous to handle by yourself. more

We're gonna do a test for the Thule Helium Pro three-bike hanging-style rack.This hanging-style rack is pretty unique in that it can carry three bikes to and from the trails, but it's gonna be very light while doing that, so it's gonna be very easy to install on your hitch and take out. It's gonna come in at about 20 pounds. It's just gonna be a lot lighter than those platform-style racks that can get up there, you know, 40, 50 pounds in weight. That can just be a hassle to have to load it onto your hitch and then take it off. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're gonna be test fitting the Swagman Quad two and a four bike rack, part number S64692. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.Now, as I said, this is a two and a four bike. Right now we have it in the four bike configuration. If you wanted to convert it to a two bike, there is a bolt on the other side here that you would remove and it does come with the hardware to do this to convert it to a two bike.The cradles themselves here, they are adjustable back and forth. You can see the knobs on the end here, you simply loosen by turning them to the left or tighten them by turning them to the right, and you can adjust them back and forth to accommodate bikes of different sizes and to help out with loading.It does have two straps to hold it by the wheels. more

Yakima RidgeBack Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Ridgeback four bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number Y02458. We already have a bike installed on our rack, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Starting with our arms here, at the ends of both of our arms we're going to have the patented Yakima bottle openers. The cradles themselves are going to be stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding, which is actually going to act as a shock absorber while you're driving, so when you hit those bumps, it's going to help protect the frame of your bike. Also, the bottoms of our zip strips here are also padded.On the back side of our mast here is this plastic piece. Now, since this doesn't come with any locks to speak of, you do have options where you can remove this plastic piece here and replace it with a Yakima handcuff integrated cable lock, which you can find on eTrailer.com.Now, the bike is held into place, we're going to have three points of contact. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Probably one of the more interesting features about this bike rack is how it can tilt away from the vehicle to gain rear hatch access, but you can keep all four bikes on, which is pretty unique for a hanging-style bike rack. Usually you would have to take out all the bikes and tilt it away that way, or by a swinging bike rack that swings out completely with all four bikes still attached to get to the rear hatch.But with this one it's a very easy operation. You come to the back side here and there's this trigger or latch right here. more

Today on this 2014 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack for 2-inch hitches, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now, the most important feature about this rack is the fact that this can tilt away with the bike still attached. To do that, we have this latch here on the side. You want to hold onto the bike rack when you release this so it doesn't just come falling down. You pull down on that, gently let it come down like so, and now we have access to our rear hatch to get what we need without having to remove the bike. Now, I would like to point out from the center of our handlebars to this edge here, we measured it to be about 9 inches, so as you can see we have plenty of space here for a little bit longer handlebars with other bikes. more

It will also have an integrated cable lock here at the mast that you'll pull out, wrap around the bikes, and then attach to this point here for additional security. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now the cradles themselves are adjustable to accommodate different size bikes. It attaches by 3 points on your bike's frame. Kuat NV Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Escape- Video
Today on the 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Envy Four Bike Platform Rack, part number N105-107. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first feature I like to show off is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with a bike still installed. To do that, there's a silver handle on the side here. Taking one hand and gripping on the bike rack, we'll pull this out, let it come forward. We'll have access to our rear hatch to get what we need. more

Today, on this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat Transfer 3 bike rack, part number TS03G. We already have the bike attached, let's go ahead and show off some of the features. The first one we'd like to show is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, we'll lift up these arms and then there's this latch here at the front, you can just go and take your foot, push down on it holding onto the bike rack, let it tilt away, and now we have access to our rear hatch. Now, I would like to note if you have any longer handlebars than this, you may run into some problems opening up your hatch. Go ahead and lift it back into position. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test-fitting the Thule T2 Pro 2-bike rack, part number TH9034. We already have the bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. The first one l'd like to show off is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached. To do that, you come to this gray handle at the end, holding on to the bike rack, pull in, let it tilt down. We have access now to our rear hatch. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Escape th9029xt- Video
Today on this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Thule Vertex 4 Bike Rack, Part Number TH9029XT. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this bike actually attaches to the rack: we're going to have three points of contact with the bike's frame. We're going to have two straps up at the top here, and one off to the side. That's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. We also have an integrated cable lock up here at the front where you would pull that out like so, wrap it around the bikes, set it in here, and lock it into place for added security. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. more

Softride Element-Parallelogram Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Escape- Video
Today in this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram Tilting 4 bike rack, part number SR 26248. We already have a bike attached to the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now, one of the most important features is the fact that this can tilt away from the vehicle with the bike still attached with this being a hanging bike rack that's pretty much the only one of its kind. You come to the side here with this black handle, pull it out like so, then let it tilt away, and we have full access to our rear hatch. To put it back into its original position, you just simply push it back up, align the pins and it will lock back into place. Now, how this attaches to the rack, you're going to have two points of contact with your bike's frame. more

Today in this 2016 Ford Escape, we're going to test fitting the Swagman Trailhead 4 Bike Rack, part number S63380. As you can see we already have the bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. Now how the bike is attached to the rack, we're going to have 4 points of contact with the bike's frame. We're going to have 3 rubber straps up at the top here, and one off to the side, and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth possibly hitting the bike rack, or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Now with the bike in this position I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements. Starting from the bumper, to this edge here, we've added about 34 1/2" to the rear of the vehicle. more

Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Escape- Video
Today in this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to test fit the Pro-Series Q-Slot platform style 2 and 4 bike rack, part number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this attaches to the rack, you're going to have three points of contact, one is going to be the frame hook up at the top here, which is padded so we'll not scratch it once you install it. There's also two and hook-and-look straps on either wheel. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Now when you remove the frame hook, you want to make sure you hang onto the bike when you do this because you don't want it falling forward into the vehicle. Raise that up and go ahead and lift it out. more
