Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Toyota RAV4- Video
Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at the Swagman XTC2 Tilt on our 2020 Toyota RAV4. The XTC is a platform style bike rack. It holds a bike in these wheel hoops and primarily by our frame up here using our frame hook. Now because it uses a frame hook, we do wanna be cautious of carbon frame bikes and probably avoid using those, because frame contact can damage it. And then with alternative frame bikes, you don't have a good solid attachment point up top, so you probably are gonna need a bike adapter bar to make sure that you're getting solid contact with the bike. more

Now, this is gonna hold the bike in these wheel cradles and primarily by our frame. We've got a frame hook up top holding the bike in those cradles, and then there's two wheel straps at the bottom as secondary points of contact to keep everything nice and secure. Overall, it does a pretty good job of getting the bike nice and still. And with this it's designed to be used with e-bikes. more

It's gonna hold up to four bikes each up to 35 pounds. Because it's hanging style we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes and kids bikes will probably need a bike adapter bar to ensure that the bike hangs level or that it even fits at all over those dual arms. more

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at the Yakima FullTilt on our 2017 Toyota RAV4. The FullTilt is a hang-style bike rack that can hold up to five bikes. It's gonna hold them by the frame here with two zip strips up top to keep it held down along with a third on the seat post to limit our side to side movement, which will help with bike to bike contact. Now, with this, you also have a 150 pound weight capacity, now, it's total, so make sure you're not overloading the bike rack. Now, because it makes frame contact, we do wanna avoid carbon frame bikes and alternative frame bikes or kids' bikes, we probably wanna pick up a bike adapter bar for those alternative frames to make sure the bike hangs level, and for the kids' bikes, it's to make sure that they can fit over this dual arm design, because it's typically not too friendly with those smaller frames. more

These cradles are height adjustable by loosening this knob, sliding it up and down, and they do rotate 360 degrees, so you can kinda mix it and match it and get it to adjust to your frame. more

Hi, everyone. Aiden here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna be taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp here on our 2021 Toyota 4Runner. Now, the OnRamp is an e-bike rack that's going to hold up to 66 pounds per bike and with an off-road capacity or an RV rating of 40 pounds per bike. It's gonna hold the bike really well. You've got the clamp, the cradle up top, holding that tube, keeping it upright, and the two straps on each wheel holding that down in place as well. It is a tray-style design, so if you do have two bikes of similar sizes you could kind of rotate them, lean them, not lean them but set them offset from each other so you don't have any sort of seat handlebar conflict which I really like. more

Now, this is a nice entry-level platform-style bike rack. It's going to hold the bike down here at each wheel with these rationing straps and with this clamp up on the center mast These two operate independently, so if you have two bikes where you have to have the clamp set at the same height, it's not gonna conflict with each other, which I really like. That's a big sticking point for some racks that have this style of attachment. They do also rotate 360 degrees to accommodate for those different style frames. more

Now, this bike rack can hold two bikes, and it's gonna hold it at the pivoting wheel cradle at the back here, and at this wheel hook on the front, which means zero frame contact. That's gonna make it good for our carbon frame bikes, our alternative frame bikes, and with a 40 pound capacity, you're not gonna want to work with any sort of e-bikes probably, so just watch out for that. Now, this does have the option to tilt away with the bikes loaded and to do that, I'm actually gonna pull this other arm up just to give me easy access to the foot pedal here. I like that these two clamps operate independently of each other. So if we have to set them at the exact same height, we can because they're completely independent, they can go up, down, rotate 360 degrees and adjust to fit your bikes. more

If you are planning on taking this off road it does have an off road weight capacity of 36 pounds per bike. So just keep that in mind. more

Now it's gonna be a really nice way to get you and four bikes to wherever you're going. Good for the family, you could hold up to 40 pounds with one bike or if you've got it fully loaded, up to 150 pounds in total. The one thing I am gonna warn you of if you are using it as like a family bike rack, these outer cradles are not gonna be as easy to hold kids' bikes. more

Now this platform style rack is gonna feature no frame contact. You've got the wheel strap on the back here as well as the front wheel hook, holding it really, really nice and solid. So you're not gonna have to worry about your carbon frame bikes, those frames are gonna be nice and fine. Any alternative frame bikes we're not gonna have to worry about bike adapter bars. more
