Now we all ready have our bike secured down, we're first going to show you one of the key features of this rack. We're going to come here to the back portion and we're going to remove our pins and clips. We've got two of them here, larger one on top and the smaller one on bottom. Might help if you lift up slightly whenever pulling out that smaller pin. Now we can tilt our bike rack away from our vehicle with our bikes fully loaded. We'll check our hatch door here. We'll see we have plenty of clearance. more

In this position, we are going to gain that full access into our back hatch to get anything in or out that we may need. What's great about this, is we don't have to worry about removing our bikes or bike rack, and we're able to get larger or smaller items. more

The main point holding this bike down is going to be this frame hook right here. The two cradles are going to hold the wheels. Now we do have hook-and-loop fasteners to keep the wheels in place. Just pull the straps and it will come right off. more

Kuat  Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2010 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2010 Ford Explorer we're going to be test fitting a Kuat NV 2.0 2-bike platform rack. Now as you can see, we already have our bike securely attached to the rack. One of the really nice features of this rack is you can actually tilt the rack down without having to remove it and still gain access to the back hatch. You still have room to get anything in or out that you may need. Now to lock the bike rack back in place, simply pick up and it will lock back in place. Now the bike is tied down and attached at two points, one at the rear wheel with a strap. To remove it you just push this button, pull the strap out, push this button on the hook, release it, tilt it out of the way, and your bike will come right off. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV 4 Bike Platform Rack, part number N105-107. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look, and show off some of the features. Now the first feature I'd like to show off is the fact that this bike rack can actually tilt with the bike still on it. To do that, there's a silver switch here on the passenger side. I want to hold onto the bike rack for this. You pull out, like so, and let the bike rack tilt forward, and we have full access to our rear hatch, without having to remove the bikes. To put it back into the originally position, you simply just lift up on the rack, until you hear that click, and it's locked into place. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer we're going to be test-fitting the Saris Bones Hitch 2 Bike Rack, part#SA882. As you can see, we already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. It's going to have three points of contact with your bike's frame. We're going to have two straps up top, here, and one off to the side, which is going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep it from moving too far back and forth hitting onto the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. All right with that done, I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements now. With the bike rack in this position we've added about 23 inches to the rear of the vehicle. more

Today on this 2016 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Thule T2 Pro 2 bike rack, part #TH9034. As you can see we already have a bike installed on the rack and first I'd like to show you it's most important feature which is the fact that it can tilt away from the vehicle with the bikes still attached. You go up to the front here which has this pull handle, you pull in holding onto the bike rack, let it come forward and you have complete access to your rear hatch. Now to put it back in its original position, you just grab the handle again, lift up until you hear that click and it's locked back into place. Now what's nice about this is the fact that the handle's on the outside here where a lot of other bike racks will have handles more toward the inside, it'd be a little bit harder to get to. Okay, now how the bike is actually attached to the rack, we're going to have 2 points of contact and absolutely no frame contact at all with your back. We'll have a wheel hook up at the front here and wheel strap at the back. more

The most important feature about this is that it actually tilts away from the bike rack with the bikes installed, which is pretty unique since this is a hanging bike rack and not a platform. To do that, there's this handle here on the passenger side, right here. Pull that out and it actually tilts away from the vehicle like so, and you can do this with all 4 bikes on it. We have access to our rear hatch, with more than enough room on either side to get what you need. more

The part number on this is Y02462. You can see the Fulltilt. It's going to use 3 zips grips to hold our bike into place. In the three framing, you've got two through the frame tube here in the top and one here on the back for the anti-sway. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're test-fitting the Thule Vertex Swing. It's been designed for use in two inch hitches. Part number is TH9031XT. It does have an incorporated cable lock, that's something that they've recently added, that's designed to go over the frames of your bike and keep them secured to the rack. It uses a Thule One Key Tumbler System, so if you've already got some you can replace it with a matching key. If not you can start your step with whichever number shows up. The swing feature, that's always the big question: how does it work, what does it do Right here we have the large, black t-handle bolt. more

First things we're going to do is get some measurements. Starting with our closest distance first, which is going be from the receiver to the front side of this bracket. Today on our 2015 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor we're going to be doing a test fit of the Kuat NV 4. This is going to be your platform-style 4-bike rack. It's going to be part numbers N105-107, and just because of the combination of making a 2-bike into a 4-bike at the connection point here. As you can see, we already have the bike up here on the rack and installed on the vehicle so you can see how it looks and fits. Our first thing we're going to do is get a few measurements, starting with our closest distance first, which in this case is going to be from the front of the bike rack to the bumper of the vehicle. That's going to be about 6-3/4". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle is going to be about 48-1/2" to the very back back here. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor we're going to be doing a test fit of the CURT Premium 4. This is going to be your hanging-style 4-bike rack. It's going to be part number C18064. This bike carrier only comes with a 2" shank for your 2" hitches only. As you can see, we've already got it up here on our rack and on our vehicle so you can see how it looks and fits. First thing we're going to do is get a couple measurements, first measurement being our closest distance, which is going to be from the front of the t-handle there to the back of the bumper at about 5". Our overall distance with it fully extended and the bike on is going to be about 34-1/2", with a rear ground clearance of about 13". more

Saris Axis 3 Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Axis, a tilting 3 bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part # SA843B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right and tighten it down with a wrench. We'll then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 13 3/4" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 5 1/4" away, and overall we've added about 14" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the yellow T-handle located at the base of the center mast will allow us to tilt it away from the vehicle. As you can see, this gives us full access into our hatch. With our mast back in its upright position, we'll now extend our dual cradle arms. more

SportRack Super EZ Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2014 Ford Explorer

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we'll be test fitting the SportRack Super EZ Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number SR2901LR. We'll begin our test fit by sliding the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll line up our pin holes and thread in our anti-rattle bolt, tightening it down with a wrench, the anti-rattle system is going to help reduce the amount of rattle or wobble that we may have inside of our hitch. Once we have that fully tightened down, we can go ahead and install our lock on the other side. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to give us a ground clearance of about 16 inches. The closest point of the bike rack to the rear of our Explorer is about eight inches away and we've added about 25 and a half inches to the overall length of our Explorer. We'll pull the three pins at the base of our bike rack to unfold the different parts. With the bike rack in this position, it's going to allow us to have full access to the rear hatch of our vehicle. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer we're going to be test fitting the SportRack tilting 3 bike rack for 1 1/4- and 2-inch hitches, part number SR2403. To begin our test fit we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pinholes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure using the provided clip. In this position we have about 13 and 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of our rack is about 4 inches away from the rear of our vehicle. And overall we've added about 11 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the black pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt the mast away from our vehicle. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Hang 2, a tilting two bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR27041. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and then tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we'll have about 13 3/4 of an inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 3/4 of an inch away and overall, we've added about 21 inches to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the two silver pin and clips at the top of the bike rake will allow us to tilt our handle bar cradles up into position. We'll rotate them up and when the pin holes line up we'll place through our pins to secure it in place. In this position, we're only adding about 13 1/4 inches to the length of our vehicle. We're now ready to load up our bike. We'll first want to undo our straps. more

Speaker: Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, were going to be test-fitting the Swagman XTC4, a flat-form style four bike rack for 2-inch hitches, part number S64665. To begin our test-fit, well slide the shank of a bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our panels, let in our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down with a wrench. We then secure it with the provided lock. In this position, we have about 13.25 inches worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is only about an inch and a half away. However, with trying to manipulate it, we couldnt get it to make contact with our bumper. Overall, weve added about 8.5 inches to the length of the explorer. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Softride Element Parallelogram, a tilting four bike rack for 1 1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26248. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack in the receiver tube of the hitch, we'll line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt, and tighten it down with a wrench. In this position, we have about 13 3/4 inch worth of ground clearance. The closest point of our rack to the back of our vehicle is about 3 1/4 inches away, and overall, we've added about 12 1/4 inches to the length of the Explorer. We'll now extend our duel cradle arms. We'll pull the silver pin located at the top of each arm, rotate them into position, and reinsert our pin. It's now time to load up our bike. We'll begin by undoing our cradle straps. We'll grab our bike, place it into the cradles, and then secure it with the straps. Just like that, we've got our bike loaded up. A great feature of the Element Parallelogram is it's ability to tilt away from your vehicle even though you've got a bike loaded. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be test fitting the Saris Thelma, a platform style 3 bike rack for 1 1/4" and 2" hitches, part # SA4239B. To begin our test fit, we'll slide the shank of the bike rack into the receiver tube of our hitch, line up our pin holes, thread in our anti-rattle bolt from the left to the right and tighten it down with a wrench. We can then secure it using the provided clip. In this position, we have about 14" worth of ground clearance. The closest point of the rack to the back of our vehicle is about 2 1/2" away, and overall we've added about 10 1/2" to the length of the Explorer. Pulling the gold pin and clip at the base of the rack will allow us to tilt it away from our vehicle into platform position. We'll reinsert the pin to hold it here, and as you can see, this gives us full access into our rear hatch. In the platform position, our rack offers 20 1/4" worth of ground clearance here at rear. more
