Best 2011 Nissan Xterra Trailer Wiring Options

Today we're going to be taking a look at the best custom fit vehicle wiring harnesses available for the 2011 Nissan Xterra. Now the number one thing you'll need to decide in your wiring harness is going to be whether you want a four-pole flat style, which will give us turn, brake, and running light signal, or whether you need something like a seven-way or a seven-pole plug. Now the seven-pole plug's going to have all those. It's going to have our turn, stop signals. It's going to have our running light. It's also going to include a reverse signal for a marine-style trailer application, a brake controller lead if you do install a brake controller in the Xterra to bring that power rearward, and also a 12-volt power wire which will give us 12-volt power at our plug for a jack or maybe a trickle charge for a battery or something like that. Today on our 2011 Nissan Xterra we're going to be taking a look at the and installing the Tekonsha T1 vehicle wiring harness with seven-way trailer connector, part number 118266. Here's what this wiring kit is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, we've got our seven-way round connector here at the back. It's a nice spring-loaded lid to help make sure that weather and the elements don't get inside there when it's not in use. This is going to do a great job of providing power to all your circuits on your trailer, like your lighting circuits and your brake circuit. This kit plugs directly into the factory plugs that are underneath the vehicle for the tow package. You will also have to install the relays that will go inside the passenger compartment at the passenger's kick panel. more

Today we have a 2011 Nissan Xterra and we will be installing the Tow Ready T-One Connector Part Number 118525. After removing the contents from the package, you will notice you have three relays. These three relays need to be plugged in to the jumper wire also included in the packaging. After plugging the three relays in, we are now ready to move inside the vehicle. Here on the passenger side, we will need to remove the passenger side kick panel. To do this, we will first need to remove the passenger side floor seal by pulling upwards on the floor seal and then out towards the rear of the vehicle. more
