Today we're going to be taking a look at the best custom fit vehicle wiring harnesses available for the 2008 Nissan Xterra. Now, the number one thing you'll need to decide in your wiring harness is going to be whether you want a four pole flat style, which will give us turn, brake and running light signal or whether you need something like a seven lay or a seven pole plug. The seven pole plug is going to have all those. It's going to have your turn, stop signals. It's going to have our running lights, but it's also going to include a reverse signal for a Marine style trailer application, a brake control relieve if you do install a brake controller in the Xterra to bring that power rearward and also a 12 volt power wire, which will give us 12 volt power at our plug for a jack or maybe a trickle charge for a battery or something like that. Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Nissan Xterra- Video
Today on our 2008 Nissan XTerra, we'll be taking a look at the Tow Ready Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7 Way Trailer Connector, part number 118266. This is what our 7 pull will look like once we have everything installed. To use it, you'll just open the door here, plug in any of your accessories and then head out down the road. To begin our install, the first thing we need to do is locate our vehicle's tow port connectors. They'll be one here on the driver's side and then another one right here. To remove the cap, they'll be a little tab right here that you can push in. It might help to use a flat blade screw driver, helps just wiggle that flat braided screw driver in there. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Nissan Xterra 118525- Video
Today on our 2008 Nissan Xterra, we'll be installing the tow-ready T-One vehicle wiring harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118525. We'll begin by putting the relays into our 12-pin jumper plug. The blue relays are exactly the same and can go in either of the 2 connectors. The third relay, the brown one, will have to go into the brown relay connector. Now that we have all 3 of our relays plugged in, making sure that the locking tab is fully engaged when pushing them together, we're ready to go up here under the passenger's side front door area. We're going to need to remove the threshold here. To do this, we use a trim panel removal tool or a large flat-head screwdriver. We'll need to work it underneath the trim panel to release the tabs that hold it in place. We'll go ahead and set the trim piece out of the way, and then, we'll go up here on the kick panel. more
