Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape- Video
Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro 2 bike rack carrier, on our 2018 Ford Escape. Our Thule Helium Pro is going to allow us to carry two bikes in the back of our Escape and alleviate the problems of trying to cram our bikes into the back hatch or having to reach way above our heads to put our bikes on top of the roof. It's going to be a lot easier and a lot safer getting our bikes to and from the trails.Our bike is going to be held down by three points of contact. We're going to have two on the top cross tube here, then we're going to have one on the vertical support and that's going to help keep it from swaying too much and prevent any kind of bike to bike contact. But let's go ahead and pull our bike off so we can get a closer look. If we come to the cradle, we'll just push in on the button and we can start feeding the strap through.Once we have all the straps loosened, we can take our bike off and we'll set it aside for right now. more

Hollywood Racks Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape HR1450Z-E- Video
Hey everyone, today we have a 2018 Ford Escape and we're going to do a test with it of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE two electric bike rack. Now this bike rack has been designed to be able to haul up to two electric bikes weighing up to 80 pounds each to and from your destination. It has a nice sturdy steel construction, it's got reinforcement so that it can handle the weight of your e-bikes while taking those impacts and vibrations at high speeds.Now, a really cool feature about this bike rack is that when it's loaded, you can tilt it away from the vehicle. And how we're going to do that is there's a safety pin on the bottom we have to pull. It's going to be just a snapper pin once we pull that off. You might have to lift up on the bike rack just a little bit. more

Hey everyone, today, we have a 2018 Ford Escape, and we're going to do a test fit of the Thule Helium Pro 3-bike hanging- style rack. Now this bike rack is going to be able to haul up to three bikes to and from the trails. It's been designed to be very lightweight, comes in at just about 20 pounds. So it's going to be very lightweight, easy to handle, you not going to have to struggle getting it into your hitch, risk straining your back with some of those heavier platform-style racks that you might run into. It's going to have an onboard cable lock, which comes from the base, pulled out from here, comes over the frame of your bikes and then locks into that spot. You use your key, lock it up and then unlock it when you want to unload your bikes. more

Hey, everyone. Today we have a 2018 Ford Escape, and we're going to do a test fit of the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider Se2 electric bike rack. Now this bike rack has been designed to be able to haul up to two electric bikes weighing up to 80 pounds each to and from your destination. It's made out of a sturdy steel construction. It's reinforced to be able to handle the weight of those e-bikes for when you're traveling at high speeds, all those vibrations, or even if you go over a speed bump or any high impact like that, it's going to be able to handle that weight.A cool feature about this bike rack is that it can tilt away from the vehicle to gain access to the trunk even when it's fully loaded. Now, if you do have it fully loaded with two 80-pound e-bikes, I would suggest maybe getting an extra set of hands to do this just because that weight could be a little bit dangerous to handle by yourself. more

We're gonna do a test for the Thule Helium Pro three-bike hanging-style rack.This hanging-style rack is pretty unique in that it can carry three bikes to and from the trails, but it's gonna be very light while doing that, so it's gonna be very easy to install on your hitch and take out. It's gonna come in at about 20 pounds. It's just gonna be a lot lighter than those platform-style racks that can get up there, you know, 40, 50 pounds in weight. That can just be a hassle to have to load it onto your hitch and then take it off. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Escape- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're gonna be test fitting the Swagman Quad two and a four bike rack, part number S64692. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features.Now, as I said, this is a two and a four bike. Right now we have it in the four bike configuration. If you wanted to convert it to a two bike, there is a bolt on the other side here that you would remove and it does come with the hardware to do this to convert it to a two bike.The cradles themselves here, they are adjustable back and forth. You can see the knobs on the end here, you simply loosen by turning them to the left or tighten them by turning them to the right, and you can adjust them back and forth to accommodate bikes of different sizes and to help out with loading.It does have two straps to hold it by the wheels. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Yakima Ridgeback four bike rack for inch and a quarter and two inch hitches, part number Y02458. We already have a bike installed on our rack, so let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Starting with our arms here, at the ends of both of our arms we're going to have the patented Yakima bottle openers. The cradles themselves are going to be stationary, meaning they can't move back and forth, but they do have this TPE padding, which is actually going to act as a shock absorber while you're driving, so when you hit those bumps, it's going to help protect the frame of your bike. Also, the bottoms of our zip strips here are also padded.On the back side of our mast here is this plastic piece. Now, since this doesn't come with any locks to speak of, you do have options where you can remove this plastic piece here and replace it with a Yakima handcuff integrated cable lock, which you can find on eTrailer.com.Now, the bike is held into place, we're going to have three points of contact. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Ford Escape- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Saris Glide EX 4-bike rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number SA774. We already have a bike installed on our rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look here. Probably one of the more interesting features about this bike rack is how it can tilt away from the vehicle to gain rear hatch access, but you can keep all four bikes on, which is pretty unique for a hanging-style bike rack. Usually you would have to take out all the bikes and tilt it away that way, or by a swinging bike rack that swings out completely with all four bikes still attached to get to the rear hatch.But with this one it's a very easy operation. You come to the back side here and there's this trigger or latch right here. more

Today on this 2014 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Kuat NV2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack for 2-inch hitches, part number NV22G. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. Now, the most important feature about this rack is the fact that this can tilt away with the bike still attached. To do that, we have this latch here on the side. You want to hold onto the bike rack when you release this so it doesn't just come falling down. You pull down on that, gently let it come down like so, and now we have access to our rear hatch to get what we need without having to remove the bike. Now, I would like to point out from the center of our handlebars to this edge here, we measured it to be about 9 inches, so as you can see we have plenty of space here for a little bit longer handlebars with other bikes. more

To do that, we'll lift up these arms and then there's this latch here at the front, you can just go and take your foot, push down on it holding onto the bike rack, let it tilt away, and now we have access to our rear hatch. Pro Series Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Ford Escape- Video
Today in this 2016 Ford Escape we're going to test fit the Pro-Series Q-Slot platform style 2 and 4 bike rack, part number PS63138. We already have a bike installed on the rack, let's go ahead and take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this attaches to the rack, you're going to have three points of contact, one is going to be the frame hook up at the top here, which is padded so we'll not scratch it once you install it. There's also two and hook-and-look straps on either wheel. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. Now when you remove the frame hook, you want to make sure you hang onto the bike when you do this because you don't want it falling forward into the vehicle. Raise that up and go ahead and lift it out. more

We're going to have two straps up at the top here and one off to the side and that's going to serve as an anti-sway strap to keep the bike from moving too far back and forth, possibly hitting the bike rack or the bikes in front of it. Let's go ahead and take the bike off and set it aside. With the bike rack in this position, measuring from the bumper, from this edge down we've added about 28 and a half inches to the rear of the vehicle. Now these arms do fold down in close quarter situations such as parking, to do that we'll just take the gray leaver here, push up, when you hear that click it's locked into place. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Thule T2 Pro platform style 4 bike rack. That's part number TH9034-9036. I've already got it loaded up on the Escape just to give you a good idea on what it looks like and how it's going to hold our bikes. It actually secures our bikes in 2 spots. We have this nice big wheel hook here in the front putting down pressure on our front wheel into this large wheel cradle here and then we have a rear wheel strap going over our wheel here keeping that in place. All in all there is no frame contact. One of the key features about this bike rack is its ability to tilt away from the vehicle with 4 bikes loaded up. more

It secures our bikes in 3 spots. We have 2 straps going over our top tube and then 1 for our seat post tube. This one is going to be our anti sway strap. Today, on our 2012 Ford Escape, we'll be doing a test fit of the Swagman XC2 Platform-Style Two Bike Rack. That's part number S64650. It secures our bike in one big spot, and that's going to be this top tube here. We've got this hook going over our top tube, putting down pressure into our front and rear cradles. Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Ford Escape TH9029XT- Video
Today on our 2012 Ford Escape, we're test fitting the Thule Vertex 4-bike rack. It's a hanging style bike rack and it also is tilting. Part number for that is TH9029XT. Now, great feature about this bike rack is that does work with 1 1/4-inch and 2-inch hitches. It's got an adapter for those 2-inch hitches. As you can see, we do already have our bike hooked onto our carrier. more

Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Escape S63380- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford Escape we are test fitting the Swagman trail head 4 bike rack, part number S63380. As you can see we do already have our bike on there, we're going to show you how we load up the bike and how it's secured and then also how we connect our Swagman to the vehicle and a little, a couple of the features about it. As you can see here we do have four straps, that's tied on the bike. Three on the frame and then one back here on the seat post. I'm just going to pull those out and release and to reconnect you're just going fit them back into those holes there. Just go ahead and release all these straps. There we are. more

SportRack Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Escape- Video
Today, on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're test fitting this Sport Rack 3 bike carrier, part number SR2403. Now, as you can see, we do already have our bike strapped in on the rack. I'm just going to show you how we strap in our bike, nd then also some of the features of the rack itself. We have got 3 straps holding the bike down. The back one here is on the seat post, it's going to be the anti-sway strap and cradle here. That's going to keep your bike from swinging back and forth when you're driving down the road. These 2 straps here are just on the frame, just to hold it in place there. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Escape TH9031XT- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex swinging model, hanging style Ford bike rack, part no. TH9131XT. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here on our cradle arm so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place on the back of your vehicle. This bike rack is going to come with a 2-inch shank to connect to our 2-inch receiver. It's going to connect using an anti-rattle bolt to help reduce the sway, rattle and wobble on the backside. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2015 Ford Escape TH9029XT- Video
Today on our 2015 Ford Escape, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Thule Vertex hanging style 4 bike rack, part number TH9029XT. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place on the back of your vehicle. This bike rack is going to come with 1 1/4" shank as well as a 2" adapter, so you can use it with your class 1,2, and 3 receivers. The thing I do need to stress to you is that if you do intend on using it with your class 1 1 1/4" receiver, is that you'll only be able to carry up to 2 bikes and you're going to need to know the weight of those bikes per your hitch's weight specifications. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance is going to be down here on the bottom side to the backside of the bumper. About 2 3/4". more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Ford Escape- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, we're going to be test fitting the Yakima FullTilt 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 inch and 2-inch hitches, part number Y02462. To begin our test fit, we'll insert the shank of our rack into the hitch of our vehicle. It helps if you keep your finger on the anti-rattle device. You'll then push it in until the pin clicks into place, and you can tell from the green indicator marker here. Now, we'll go ahead and tighten up the anti-rattle device. This helps to take any play out of the shank of the rack. more

Saris Thelma Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Ford Escape- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Saris Thelma 3-bike platform-style rack for 1-1/4" and 2" hitches, part number SA4239B. To begin our test fit we'll insert the shank of our rack into the hitch of our vehicle. Once that's inserted you'll want to watch for the pinholes to line up. With your pinholes in line we'll go ahead and and take the included threaded anti-rattle hitch bolt and thread that into place. Once we have that hand tight we'll go ahead and take our wrench and tighten down the rest of the way. Doing this helps to remove any extra added movement in the shank. more

Saris Freedom SuperClamp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2013 Ford Escape- Video
Today on our 2013 Ford Escape, we are going to be test fitting the Saris Freedom Super Clamp Two Bike platform style rack part number SA4025. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of our rack into our receiver hitch on our vehicle. You want to watch for the pin holes to line up. Once that is in line you can go ahead and take the threaded anti rattle hitch bolt and thread that into place. Once you have that hand tight, you can go ahead and take your wrench and finish it off the rest of the way. Once that is tighten down, you can go ahead and snap your lock onto the other side. We'll go ahead and we'll get a few measurements here. more

Today on our 2012 Ford Escape we're going to be test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a folding and tilting 4-bike rack. It's been designed for use with the 1-1/4" or 2" hitches. Its part number is TH934XTR. To begin our test fit we're going to slide the shank of the rack right up into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll slide it in far enough so that our threaded hole will line up with our hitch pinhole. We'll then take our anti-rattle bolt and we'll slide that in. more

Today on our 2014 Ford Escape, we're going to do a quick test fit on the Thule Hitching Post Pro. This is a tilting and folding 4 bike rack. It's been designed for use with 1 1/4 as we've got here today, or 2 inch hitches. The part number on it is TH934XTR. Now with a class 3 and a class 2 hitch, we're fine to load up a full 4 bikes on it. If we're using a class 1 hitch, we'll do just as it says in the instruction manual, we'll want to limit that to only having 2 bikes on the rack. To begin our test fit, we're going to slide the shank of the rack into the receiver tube of our hitch. more

To begin our test fit, we need to slide the shank of the rack right into the receiver tube of our hitch. As we do, well align our threaded hole up with our hitch pinhole. Then well take the anti-rattle bolt and thread that in. more
