If you're looking for an easy way to start flat towing your F-150 behind your coach, look no further, this is Etrailer's tabless base plate kit that we've installed on our 2023 Ford F-150. Now, if you're new to flat towing, there are like five essential components that you need to start doing that, it'll be the tow bar itself, you'll need some safety cables. You'll need some sort of supplemental braking system. You're gonna need some sort of diode wiring to transmit the electrical signals back. And then mostly in today's video, what we're focusing on is the base plate, and that's gonna be this part here that actually attaches to the F-150, that's gonna be the physical link up between the tow bar and the truck itself. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Traverse- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox base plate on a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse. Now this is what your base plate is gonna look like when it's installed on your Traverse. And it does a pretty good job of making sure everything looks nice and tidy. Once installed, when you don't have your arms attached, it's pretty, almost flushed with the front of the fascia, which is really nice, it gives you a clean look. Your safety chain loops do stick out a little bit, but that's so you can hook onto them nice and easy. And the crossbar that they have will allow you to mount up your 6-pole as well as your breakaway switch on the opposite sides of the license plate, so you don't have to worry about anything getting in the way. more

Just to show you what it looks like when our tow bar is not hooked up to it. You'll just simply disconnect your tow bar, pull this spring loaded pin, twist it, and slide this bar out. And this is all that's gonna be left on your front of your vehicle. You're gonna have these handy tabs to be able to attach your safety cables to, and it's gonna come with a bracket to mount your 6-pole that you'll need for your diode wiring. more

The second will be your tow bar, which connects the RV to the vehicle and you'll have your braking system, your supplemental braking system, which helps the vehicle stop behind the motor home so that the motor home doesn't have to do all the braking. Now, there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle. and starting on the vehicle side, the first thing is gonna be the base plate and that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle or a structural part of the vehicle that's gonna allow you to attach the rest of the components and safely tow it down the road. Now, connected to the arms on our base plate is gonna be our tow bar and this is the connection point between the hitch on the RV and the towed vehicle. On our base plate we also have these loops for safety chains which is gonna be one of the components. So in case of a disconnect, you still have those chains holding onto the towed vehicle. more

Well neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Roadmaster Base Plate on a 2016 GMC Terrain. Now in flat towing your Terrain, there's gonna be five main components required for flat towing and the first one's gonna be a base plate, and that's gonna be the attachment point for all of your components, and it's attached to the frame of the vehicle, creating a nice sturdy mounting point. Going along with that, you have safety chains, which are in case of a disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together and that way the car's not getting disconnected. Now between your base plate and the hitch on the RV, you are gonna have your tow bar and that is simply that connection point that allows it to pivot as you're going down the road. Now you're also gonna have a supplemental braking system and that way when you apply the brakes on the RV, it's gonna transmit to the towed vehicle, bringing it to a slow or stop, and also you have a breakaway cable with that, and that way in case of a catastrophic disconnect, it's gonna pull this switch here, applying the brakes on the vehicle, bringing it to a stop. That way it's not rolling down the highway. more

But before we get into that, let's just take a couple of minutes, check this out and make sure it's gonna be right for you. So before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to kind of refresh ourselves and touch base on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our Jeep down the road in the first place, and there's gonna be a total of five. Hello, neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox Base Plate on a 2023 Ford Ranger. And once your base plate is installed, this is how it's gonna look, and overall it's a really clean look because it utilizes the same spot as the factory tow hooks. So that means you're gonna get a nice solid mounting point, but also it doesn't have to be too much trimming or anything like that. In fact, this one just kind of bolts in. It's pretty simple It can be done very quickly, and it's kind of nice because it really doesn't require trimming where some other base plates really do, and you're kind of hacking up the front. more
