Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee.Now, whenever you're flat-towing your jeep behind your motor home, the whole purpose of taking it is so that once we get to the campgrounds, we can take our car out, go to dinner, run to the gas station. It's just a lot easier to drive our Cherokee around rather than driving our motor home.But part of the problem comes into play whenever we're flat-towing our Cherokee. If we do a long extended period of time, the battery can drain, whether that's because of the braking system or any other components that may stay on, but our charge line is going to make sure that when we get to our destination, we can jump in our Cherokee and not have to worry about finding somebody to jump our car.And the way our charge line kit is going to work is, it's going to take the 12-volt power source from the back of our seven way in our motor home, send it through our umbilical cord to the six way or whatever plug we have on the front of our jeep. Now, on the inside of here, on one of the pins, we have our charge line, just a wire going up to a breaker that's going to be hooked to the battery. And that breaker is going to make sure that it doesn't overcharge our battery, because it's only going to provide 15 amps while we're hooked up.One thing to keep in mind about the charge line kit is you are going to need that 12-volt power source at the seven way at the back of your motor home. Blue Ox Towing Accessories Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Blue Ox Towing Accessory Kit for Aventa LX Tow Bars, part number BX88231. Now when you first start out you want to make sure that you do a series of S turns to make sure that the tow bar arms are fully extended and lock into position. Now we'll go ahead and route our 4-flat wiring to the rear of the vehicle. When routing your wire you want to make sure you stay away from any areas that may become hot, have moving parts, or have sharp edges as all of these could easily damage the wire. Now we're going to go ahead and use an old section of air line tubing to help us route our wire to the rear of the vehicle. We'll go ahead and tape our wire here to our air line tubing to help us pull it underneath the skid plate. more
