etrailer Class III Trailer Hitch Installation - 2022 Ford Explorer

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the etrailer two-inch by two-inch trailer hitch receiver on a 2022 Ford Explorer. Now, this is what your hitch is gonna look like when installed on the Explorer. And the great part about it that I like is the fact that it's a hidden cross tube. And what that means is it simply hides a lot of the structural part of the hitch behind the bumper, leaving really only the receiver end and giving you a clean look, kind of, overall. That way, you don't have a whole bar hanging down. more

Ryan: How's it going, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today on our 2014 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the etrailer.com class three two inch trailer hitch receiver. Many explorer owners use their SUVs to do a little bit of everything, so whether that means you're towing a trailer, maybe throwing on a cargo carrier to take the family on vacation, just hauling around some bikes to go riding every now and again, this hitch is going to allow you to enjoy all those activities. Now, the main thing that really separates this hitch from all the others is its finish. It's going to be a matte black powder coat finish, so it's going to stand up really well against the elements. You're not really going to have to worry about it getting scratched up or anything like that and since it is matte black, it does match the back of our bumper here really nicely. It really just helps that hitch blend in and even though you can see this portion of the hitch here, how it contours along the bottom of the bumper, and since it matches nice, you're really not even going to be able to notice it on the back of your Explorer. more

Many Explorer owners, use your SUVs to do a little bit of everything, whether it be some towing, using a cargo carrier while you're on your family vacation or throwing on a bike rack to hit the trails. This hitch is going to allow you to do all those activities that you enjoy. And one of the things I like about it is how it sticks out just a little bit past the bottom of our bumper here. And so that's going to give us some really good clearance whenever we're using it for folding accessories. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com, and today you're going to be taking a look at the etrailer Class III Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver on our 2015 Ford Explorer. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed. It's going to sit right below the bumper, but that flat black finish on it means it's going to blend in really well and we're not really going to see as much. Main thing we're going to see is that receiver tube sticking out here. It is a Class III, so it's going to give us that 2" x 2" receiver tube opening, so we're going to have the widest variety of options for accessories that we can mount up. And regardless of what accessories we're going to use, everything's going to mount here on the side, the hitch pinhole, and our hitch is going to accept a standard 5/8 pin and clip. Now, these do not come with our hitch, but you can pick them up here at etrailer.com, along with some locking devices to make sure your accessories are nice and secure. Now, obviously, if you are towing a trailer you have to have a spot to hook up your safety chains, and our connection point is going to be at the bottom welded onto the receiver tube here. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2013 Ford Explorer, we're going to review and install the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number E98867.This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed on our Explorer. First off, we have a 2" x 2" opening here, which is very popular for all kinds of accessories and ball mounts. Has a nice rounded collar around it for reinforcement, and also look back in receiver tube, you have a standard 5/8 diameter hitch pinhole, which will work great with your existing hitch pin or your favorite locking pin. For your safety chains on your trailer, you get this plate right here with the holes in it, so our safety chains work just like that.Overall quick view of our hitch, you notice it's constructed of a round tubing, and it stays below the bumper course but goes up as soon as possible behind the bumper and up into it's attachment points up on the frame. Some things to know about the weight rating on the hitch is that it's good for 400 pounds of tongue weight, which is the weight that pushes down on the hitch, and it's also good for 4,000 pounds pulling weight. Now, when you add a weight distribution assembly between your hitch and your trailer, the weight goes up to 500 pounds of tongue weight and 5,000 pounds of pulling weight. One final note is the finish of our hitch here is a powder coat black carbide finish, which is actually seems to me a little bit stronger than the other finishes on some other competitor hitches. more

Now our Draw Tite hitch is going to be a great addition to your Ford Explorer, whether for towing or non-towing needs. It does tuck up as close as we can to the bumper here and yes, you can see the cross tube, but it does go up behind the bumper as soon as possible. This does look like a part of the vehicle from the factory. This is our 2 inch opening right here, which allows for a wide variety of accessories for your towing or non-towing needs. It also has a nice rounded finish on this collar here to compliment the look. All right, now one thing unique to our Draw Tite here is that you'll see 2 holes in the side of the hitch. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2010 Ford Explorer - Draw-Tite

Today on our 2010 Ford Explorer we're going to take a look at, and also show you how to install, the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Custom Fit Trailer Hitch Receiver. It's part number is 75437. Here's what our hitch is going to look like installed on the vehicle. You'll see we're going to have that round tube that's going to go between those side plates, which go right up and connect to our frame. Here in the middle we've got our two inch by two inch receiver tube opening. Now, this class three hitch, it's going to work out great for just about any type of accessory you might want to put in here. Now, you do notice the factory hitch that we've got here. Now, this is an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter hitch. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Ford Explorer

Today in our 2003 Ford Explorer, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Max Frame class III trailer hitch receiver, part number 75132. All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's nice and tucked up underneath our factory hitch. Our class III, two-by-two inch receiver opening here gives us a lot more versatility than the standard inch-and-a-quarter factory hitch. Now, even though our factory hitch is retained on the vehicle, you want to make sure you don't use both of these at the same time. You don't want to be towing a trailer with a two-inch class III receiver while using a cargo carrier or a bike rack on the class II factory hitch, because you can overload the vehicle. Now, on the side of our receiver here, you'll notice there's two holes. The larger one is your industry standard five-eighths-of-an-inch diameter hitch-pin hole, and the one to the rear of that is a j-pin stabilization device hole. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2003 Ford Explorer C13550

Today on our 2003 Ford Explorer, we'll be installing the CURT class three trailer hitch receiver, part number C13550. All right, here's what our hitch looks like installed. Now because the vehicle has a class three hitch on it, we have the ability to tow heavier trailers, use more versatile bike racks out there, and use more types of cargo carriers as well. Now our hitch is tucked up nicely under the factory hitch, and wraps around our spare tire nicely. You'll still be able to lower your spare tire down without a problem. Now even though our factory hitch is retained on the vehicle, you want to make sure you don't use both of these at the same time. You don't want to be towing a trailer with a two inch class three receiver while using a cargo carrier or bike rack on the class two factory hitch, because you can overload the vehicle. This hitch has a 500 pound max tongue weight rating, and a 5,000 pound max gross trailer weight rating. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Ford Explorer - Draw-Tite

Today, in our 2012 Ford Explorer, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite Maxframe Class III Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 76034. Now here's what our hitch looks like installed. As you can see, it's nice and tucked up underneath our back bumber here. The only real part you see hanging down besides the Class III 2" receiver opening here, our safety chain loops is a little bit of the frame of the hitch, itself. The hitch body is constructed of a nice, round, tubular steel construction, with a nice, black, powder coat finish which makes it appear like it came on the vehicle from the factory. As I mentioned earlier, we have these nice safety chain loops here, made of a angular steel construction that angles in towards the body of the hitch. It has a nice, wide opening here. As you can see, you can easily grab onto it with your hands, so if you have some large safety chains hooks, they easily will fit into here. more

Today on our 2015 Ford Explorer we're going to be taking a look at the and installing the Draw-Tite Max-Frame class three trailer hitch receiver, part number 76034. It's nicely tucked up against the lower side of the fascia here to where except for a little bit of the crosstube down here it's pretty well hidden. This hitch is going to give us good clearance for all of our accessories away from the rear of the vehicle. It also doesn't come so far out to where it protrudes past the rear of the vehicle. It features the 2" by 2" receiver tube opening with a nice reinforcement collar that's welded on here. It's also got the two pinholes over here, the standard 5/8" hitch pinhole that's going to be used to secure all your class three accessories. more
