Curt Trailer Hitch Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Sonic

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Sonic, we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt class one trailer hitch receiver; part number C11240. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. Now, one thing I really like about this hitch is how high and tight it's tucked up against our rear fascia here. This provides us with optimal ground clearance. On the side of our receiver here, you'll find our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pin hole to secure any of our hitch mounted accessories. A half inch diameter hitch pin and clip is included with this hitch. Welded on the bottom of the frame of our receiver and the receiver tube itself, we find our safety chain plate. more

Let's go ahead and take a closer look at it. You can see that the body of the hitch does fit just below the bumper going across like this. It's about 1/2 inch of clearance between the hitch and the bottom of your bumper. This does use an 1 1/4 inch opening right here. It's also using a 1/2 inch hitch pin or your favorite locking pin. On the bottom here is our safety chain loops. This is a conventional loop style suitable for a wide variety of chain hooks that are out there. Receiver opening is, of course, welded up to this gusset right here and goes on to the body of our hitch. more
