Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're gonna be test fitting the Swagman E-Spec 2-Electric Bike Platform Rack and that's gonna be part number S64689. As you can see, we do have a bike installed so let's take a look at some of the features.Now, like I said, this is an electric bike platform rack so it has the ability to carry up to two electric bikes weighing up to 70 pounds each. So that's a pretty neat feature about it. If we come in here, we see we have these little cradles that don't pivot back and forth, however, if you loosen 'em like this, you can adjust 'em back and forth and accommodate any length bike you might have. Each cradle is gonna come with a rubber strap and a rubber protector to protect the frame of your wheel.And if we come over and see how our bike is secured, we're gonna have three different points of contact. We're gonna have this strap with this rubber protector in there to protect the frame of our wheel. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be testing the Swagman Quad 2+2 two-bike and four-bike platform-style rack. Now, it's going to be part number S64692. As you can see, we already have a bike installed, so let's take a look at some of the features.Now, the first one I want to point out is that you see we have this set up for a four-bike set up. But if we come down here, we can loosen the bolt and remove it. From there, we can pull off this two-bike extension, shortening it to a two-bike rack rather than a four. So, just for those where you don't feel like taking all four bikes out, you can miniaturize it down to a two-bike rack.If we come and look at these cradles, we're going to see that they don't pivot back and forth. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Sportrack Ridge III, hanging style, 3-bike rack. Part number SR2403. This bike rack is going to come with an 1 1/4 and a 2-inch shank. The 1 1/4 inch shank will be compatible with your class one and two receivers and your class three receivers will be good with that adapter and that two inch. Inno Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan we're going to be doing a test fix of the Inno Tire Hold 3, part number INH305-306. This is going to be your platform style 3 bike rack. You can see that we already have our bike up here on our platform, so you can see what's it going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place on the back of your vehicle. Note that this bike does come with an 1 1/4" shank, as well as that 2" adapter, but you will only be able to carry up to two bikes on this, and then it's going to be per your Class 1 hitches weight specifications. Let's go ahead and start by getting a few measurements. Our closest measurement will our first one, and that's going to be from the front bracket here to the back side of the bumper, at about 3/4 of an inch. Overall distance that we've added to the back of the vehicle from the rear of the bumper to the backside of the rack at about 37", and our rear ground clearance at about 16 3/4". The nice thing about this rack and when you have it loaded with your bikes on it you will be able to put it in the tilt position, as you can see there. more

As you can see, we've already got our bike up here on our cradle arms, so you can see what it's going to look like once you have everything fully assembled and on the back of your vehicle. This bike rack only comes with a 2 inch shank, and that will fit your class 3, or 2 inch receivers. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our first measurement will be our closest measurement from the back side of the bumper to the front side of the T handle located here at about 4 3/4 inches. Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle, from the rear of the bumper to the back of the cradle arms at about 35 inches. Our ground clearance from the bottom side of the shank and platform at about 10 1/2 inches. Let's move up front, and we'll talk about the swing option. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan Th9029xt- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we're going to be doing a test fitting of the Thule Vertex. This is going to be your hanging style 4 bike rack part # TH9029XT. As you can see, we've already got our bike up here on our cradle arm so you can see what it's going to look like once you have it fully assembled and in place on the back of your vehicle. This bike rack is going to come with your 1 1/4" as well as your 2" adapter for your shank, so you can use it with your class 1, 2 and 3 receivers. The thing you're going to need to keep in mind, though, is if you plan on using it with your class 1 receivers, which is that 1 1/4" diameter, that you're only going to be able to carry up to 2 bikes, and you're going to need to know the weight of those bikes, as well as the weight specifications on your class 1 receiver. Let's go ahead and start off by getting a few measurements. Our closest distance will be our first measurement from the brackets here on the front to the backside of the bumper, at about 2 1/4". Overall distance that we've added to the vehicle from the rear of the bumper to the rear of the cradle arms is going to be about 33 1/2", and our ground clearance on the backside underneath the shank, is going to be about 10 1/2". Now moving up top, we'll talk about the cradles and how our bike is secured to the rack. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we'll be test fitting part number Y02433. This is the Yakima HoldUp 2 Hitch Mounted Folding Bike Rack with wheel mount cradles for 2-inches hitches. Now to begin our test fit, we'll simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt. This will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. Now, we'll go ahead and unfold the bike rack platform and open our hatch. And as you can see, we can gain full access to our rear hatch, opening the door completely. more

Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10-inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 2-1/2 inches. We will now go ahead and pull the switch at the top of the bike rack mast to bring out the dual arms where we can undo the straps, exposing our cradles. more

Today, on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we will test fitting the Thule Hitching Post Pro, folding and tilting 4 bike carrier for both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches. A quick note on this bike rack, when using with a class one 1-1/4 inch hitch you are limited to 2 bikes. Now, to begin our test fit, we have already installed our included adapter for the 2-inch hitch so we will go ahead and slide the shank of the bike rack into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and with that, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. At this point, we can go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 9-1/2 inches and from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 5 inches. Now we will go ahead and pull the pin at the bottom of the bike rack mast to tilt the mast down. more

Today, on our 2011 Toyota Camry we are going to do a test fit of part number S63410 from Swagman. This is a Titan 4 bike rack. As a few things to note about this bike rack, that it will work with 1-1/4 inch receiver hitches, both class 1 and class 2. However, if you are using it with a class 1 hitch, you are limited to carrying just 2 bikes. Now, this will also work with a 2-inch receiver hitch with provided spacer. Today, on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, we will be test fitting the Soft Ride Dura parallelogram tilting 4 bike carrier for both 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches, part number SR26247. Now, to begin our test fit, we will simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up the hitch pin hole and install the include anti-rattle bolt. With the bolt tight, we will install our lock, which will secure the parallelogram to our vehicle. We will now go ahead and give you a few measurements. Our ground clearance at the bike rack is 10 inches and from the closest point on the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 1/4 inch. We can now pull the pin on the side of the bike rack to allow the Dura parallelogram to tilt down. more

Today on our 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan, well be test fitting part number TH9025, the Thule Apex 4 Bike Carrier. Now to begin our test fit, well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch, line up our hitch pinhole and using our integrated locking hitch pin, well let it slide into place. With it in place, well simply give it a slight tug and tighten down our anti-rattle knob here at the base of the rack. With our knob tight, our bike rack is secured to the vehicle. Thule Vertex 4 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan, we'll going to do a test fit of the Thule Vertex 4 Bike Carrier part number TH9029. Our vehicle is already equipped with our 2" hitch so we can go ahead and take our preassembled bike rack with a 2" bushing on our bike shank and slide it directly into the receiver tube with the hitch.And we'll install our anti-rattle bolt and tighten it down. As you can see with our anti-rattle bolt tighten down, it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the vehicle. This is what our bike rack will look like when its stored position.Now we go ahead and use the hitch switch at the base of the rack to tilt the bike rack away from the vehicle and check for rear cargo access. As you can see with our bike rack tilted away from the vehicle, we have plenty of rear cargo access. Now, go ahead and use the hitch switch at the top of the bike rack to extend the carrying arms. more

SportRack EZ Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan, were going to test fit this Sport Rack 2 Bike Carrier part number A30901. With the vehicle equipped with the 2 hitch and our bike rack are already preassembled well go ahead and slide the bike rack shank directly into the receiver tube with the hitch and install our anti-rattle bolt. With our bike rack installed and the anti-rattle bolt tighten down, you can see it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the vehicle.This is what our bike rack will look like when in its stored position. Now lets go ahead and put the platform down on the bike rack. With our platform down well go ahead take couple of measurements, from the nearest point on the platform on our bike rack to the closest point of the bumper of the vehicle is 16. From the rear of the bike rack to the ground we have 15 of ground clearance. more

SportRack Escape 3 Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2012 Dodge Caravan we're going to test fit the SportRack Escape 3 Bike Carrier, part number A30403. Our vehicle is equipped with a two-inch hitch, and with our bike rack already preassembled and the two-inch bushing installed on the bike rack shank we can go ahead and slide it directly into the receiver tube of the hitch. And then we'll install and tighten down our anti-rattle bolt and safety clip. As you can see with our anti-rattle bolt tightened down it really takes out any movement between the bike rack and the hitch. Now let's go ahead and folds the arms down on the bike rack so we can see what it looks like in its stored position. Now we can go ahead and take a couple of measurements. more

Rhode Gear Highway Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan- Video
Today on our 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan, well be test fitting the Road Gear Highway 2 Bike Carrier part number RG8015220. This bike rack is capable of using in 1- or 2 hitches and with our vehicle equipped with a 2 hitch we'll use the included adaptor to fit it to the vehicle. Well simply slide the bike rack shank into the hitch. Well line up to hitch pin hole and insert our anti-rattle bolt. With our anti-rattle bolt in we can tighten it down with a wrench and that will secure our bike rack to the vehicle. With our bike rack secured to the vehicle well go ahead and give you a few measurements from the closest point of the bike rack to the back of the vehicle is 4- and our ground clearance is 9-. more
