Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2021 Ford Ranger

Hey everybody, Ryan here at Etrailer. Today on our 2021 Ford Ranger, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Curt custom fit seven-way vehicle wiring harness. Before we get into that though, let's just take a couple minutes, check this out and make sure it's gonna work for you. So when it comes to these Rangers, to my knowledge, they're all gonna come equipped with a factory four-way flat trailer wiring connector. And that, at least from my experience holds true whether you have a tow package or not. And that's great and all, but sometimes you're gonna be pulling trailers that have a seven-way round type connector, and that's where a kit like this is going to come into play. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Ford Ranger

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2019 Ford ranger, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Curt 7-Way Vehicle Wiring Harness. But before we do that why don't we check it out and make sure that this is something that's gonna work for you. So with these Rangers being pretty capable trucks, you know a lot of people are gonna be out there doing some some relatively heavy towing with them. And the majority of these Rangers aren't going to come from the factory equipped with a seven way round type connector. But not really a big deal if your truck doesn't have one. more

Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness Installation - 2020 Ford Ranger

Ryan: Hey everybody. Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today, on our 2020 Ford Ranger, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt T connector vehicle wiring harness with the seven way connector. The seven way is not only going to provide our trailer with the basic and necessary lighting functions, but it's also going to give it a couple more, one of them being the auxiliary 12 volt power output, and that's going to charge your batteries that you might have on your trailers as you're going down the road and it's also going to put out an electric brake signal. That way if you have a brake controller, you can apply the trailer brakes and bring you to a safe and predictable stop. And if you are getting this to be able to use a brake controller, the one that I really like is called the Curt Echo. It's going to be completely wireless. You'd simply just plug it in and it's going to allow you to control everything using an app on your phone. This is going to supply our trailer with plenty of power to not only aluminate those traditional style incandescent bulbs, but also newer LEDs.So ultimately, this isn't going to just keep you legal. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Ford Ranger- Video

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Ford Ranger

Here on this 2008 Ford Ranger, we'll go ahead and review and install part number 18252, the Draw Tite 4-Pole Hardwire Kit with a circuit tester. This is what it looks like when it's installed on our Ranger truck. This wire harness will allow you to replace the 4-Pole connector that's pre-existing on this truck like we did here, or you can use this on a vehicle that does not have a 4-pole wire harness at all. One of the best reasons to have this installed on your truck is is that it replaces something that's already corroded up, or in this case here, the 4-pole wire harness is actually from the factory, located behind and underneath and a little bit hard to get to. You can use this to extend it and pull it out and make it a little easier to work with and hook up to your trailer. Our part number includes the wire harness here, of course. It also comes with the quick splice connectors and a circuit tester to help identify the functions of the wires. We'll cover those next in our install. First off, this is our 4-pole flat wire harness right here, entire length of the wire is going to be 72 inches. These are our quick splice connectors. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 1999 Ford Ranger

Today on our 1999 Ford Ranger, we'll install the custom fit vehicle wiring harness 4-pole connector, part number 118241. To begin our install, we'll first need to locate the manufacturer's tow port. For this application, it's behind the bumper here on the driver's side. To gain access to it, we'll just take a trim panel tool or flat blade screwdriver and pry the connector free from the secured point behind the bumper. Then once we have access to the connector, we'll need to remove the weather cap. To do that, we'll press in the locking tab and pull it out from the connector. more
