Now this can be an excellent way of getting a multitude of bikes to the trail head with you but if you're really concerned about a lot of sway and then to make sure that our bikes kind of stay stable and not banging into each other this can be a great option, especially if you're looking at still getting a hanging style rack. I think this guy really excels at making sure we're getting a lot of good contact and really reducing that sway of our bikes. You can see, we do have a dual arm support system so right out of, right out of the gate we're going to have a lot less play going left and right. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2021 Ford Ranger nv22g- Video
Hey everybody, welcome to etrailer.com, I'm Bobby, and today we're taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 on our 2021 Ford Ranger. Now the Kuat NV is definitely one of the top of the line platform racks out there and that is for a reason, it's got a lot of great features, it looks really nice and is extremely easy to use. So, let's go ahead and start breaking it down for ourselves. As you can see, it is a tire hold format here, so if you're looking for a way of transporting your carbon frame bikes, this is going to be an excellent option as we don't have any frame contact, so we wouldn't be warping those carbon frames, won't be deteriorating them, so we actually are going to be able to trade support them with no problem at all. With that as well, since we have a tire hold system, we are going to get those women bikes, step through bikes and even those kiddo bikes with no issue at all. A lot of the times, you actually need like a bike adapter bar to get these to work on those frame clamp systems, however today as you can see, we're going to have no need for those at all, and with a 60 pound capacity rating per bike, we are going to get some more bigger, heavier, beefier bikes up on here with no problem at all, that even includes those big e-bikes, yes you can even take off those battery packs though, to really reduce that weight, hopefully make for a clean system and as we can see, can take the strain off our bike rack, those batteries can be hazardous, not only to our frames but also to our rack and our vehicle, so let's make sure we're storing those away. more

Now, if you're looking for a very easy way and a lightweight carrier to get up onto our truck and a nice way of getting our single bike systems up to the trail head with you, this is gonna be an excellent option. With a 60 pound weight capacity, we're gonna get some of those heavy e-bikes up on here, most of our standard and mountain bike tires, as well as because we have a tire hold format here, we can actually go ahead and throw our carbon frames up on here. So it can be an excellent way of getting those carbon frames 'cause we don't have any frame contact. So it won't be deteriorating or warping those frames. more

Now this is a really nice bike rack, if you are looking for something that has all the cool premium features and can carry your carbon frame bikes or alternate frame bikes. One of its features that you can tilt away, and to do so he just pull on this lever right over here and this allows it to drop down. Now we can't completely lower our tailgate, but we can bring it just enough down if we need to throw something in there or grab something out of our truck bed, without having to take the bike rack off completely. So that's just something to keep in mind is that you can't completely access your tailgate, but just enough to grab whatever you need. more

Now, right away you're getting some great features with this guy. The big one to stand out, as you see, we do have an E-Bike out here today, and with 60 lbs capacity, per bike, you're able to get most of those big bikes on here. Now, keep in mind, with those E-Bikes you do want to make sure you're removing those batteries, that's going to take the weight off of your bike, off of your rack, and make for a nice and smooth ride for yourself. As well as preventing any damage to your bike or your rack. Another great feature with this as well, is we are going to be able to fit some of those fat tire bikes on here. more

Now, platform-style rack is going to have a tray, wheel hoops, some kind of platform that our bike is going to sit on. And our Swagman here, we're also going to have a frame hook right here in the center that's going to make sure our bikes are nice and secure. Now, again, we're going to be able to carry up to two bikes with this to and from the trail with our Swagman here.Now, the way it's going to hold everything in place those wheel hooks, we're just going to ratchet down, and then on each one of the wheel hoops here, we're going to have a strap. We're going to have a wheel hook here for each tire, and that's not something you usually see. A lot of other platform style racks only have that one wheel hook with a small strap or something back here. more

Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2020 Ford Explorer TH9056- Video
Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer, today on our 2020 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Camber hitch mounted bike rack. So the rack that we have here today can hold up to a total of four bikes. But if you don't need to carry that many, there's a two bike version available as well. One of the big questions we get asked all the time in regards to hitch mounted bike racks is if you're still going to be able to have full access to the back of your Explorer. Well, this one does fold down out of the way and allows us to do that. Super easy, we're going to have a lever down here and whenever you pull this up, can push this down is quite a bit of space here. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2019 Ford Edge- Video

It's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Hitching Post Pro four bike hanging style rack on our 2019 Ford Edge.Now, our Hitching Post Pro is going to allow us to take up to four bikes to and from the trail. Now, I personally really like hitch mounted bike racks. I personally think it's a lot easier than cramming them in the back of the hatch, and I don't like the idea of having a roof rack on our Edge. I'm a little bit on the shorter side, and I just don't like the idea of having to lift my bike this high, and being this close to the paint. So a hitch mounted carrier is going to make it a lot easier on our backs, because we're not going to be lifting our bikes as high, and again, we don't have to be so close to the car and worry about any kind of scratches or damage.Our Hitching Post Pro is going to hold our bike at three different points. more

But if you don't need to carry that many, there's also a one bike version available as well. And one of the things I think is really cool and really separates this platform style rack from any of the others is how it's going to secure the bike. We're going to have a wheel hook for the back tire, as well as the front tire. And so that's going to do a great job of keeping your bike secure, and especially good for those of you with carbon bikes. more

The way the rack works is really simple. We're going to have two straps here on the top tube and a strap right here. Now this is actually going to act as an anti-sway strap and that's going to help prevent that side to side movement. more

Saris Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2019 Ford Ranger sa772- Video
Adam: What's going on, everybody, Adam, with etrailer today, we're going to be taking a look at the Saris Glide EX 2 hanging style bike rack on our 2019 Ford Ranger.So this is the two bike version, but we do have a four-bike rack version, which comes in three different colors, blue, bronze, and black. And then we also have a five bike rack version that just comes in one color, but just know that you do have that option and we're going to have all the same features for all of them.So, but for today, we're going to just focus on the two hanging style bike rack. And this is one of the three tie-down points we're going to have.We're going to have two here up top, and we're going to have one down here and it's going to be our anti-sway cradle. And that's just going to limit that bike to bike contact that you get whenever you're going down the road.And one thing to note with this one, which you're not going to get with a lot of hanging style bike racks is the distance between them. It's quite a bit almost about a foot between both of our bikes.So if you have some higher end bikes that aren't carbon fiber bikes, because we don't like to hang those, but if you have some of those types of bikes and you really don't want them hitting each other, I do think this is going to be one of your best bets to make sure that doesn't happen.So let's go ahead and start with the second really awesome feature about this. And that's the fact that we can actually tilt this with the bikes installed. more
