Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Express Van 31345

Today in our 2016 Chevrolet Express van, we'll be installing the Hopkins plug-in tow vehicle wiring harness, part number 31345. When we're ready to hook up to our trailer, we just back up to it, couple it to our hitch, undo our dust cap, plug our lighting into it, and now we're ready to go. Now here's what our wiring kit comes with. Most importantly we have the trailer wiring itself. I guess it's a four pole flat connector, so we can tow a trailer and have all the required lighting functions, as needed by law. Have a converter box here, which isolates our tow vehicle from the trailer, so if the trailer has a short, we don't have to worry about our vehicle's electrical systems being damaged. We have some terminal grease here to use on our connections inside the vehicle, and some zip ties to secure wiring up. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Traverse

Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Part number C56181. Here's what this wiring is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see, we've got our 4-pole power here at the hitch and this wiring harness is going to do a great job of just that, giving you that 4-pole power here so that you can power your trailer or cargo carrier. This kit uses T-connectors behind the tail lights in order to get the signal for the power. It does run a 12 volt power wire directly to the positive side of the battery so that the module box can take it's power from there as opposed to using the power coming off of the signals behind the taillights. more

Today, on our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, we're going to be taking look at and installing the Demco 5th wheel gooseneck 90-degree wiring harness with 7-pole plug, part number DM8555002. Here's what it looks like once it's installed on a bed of the truck. As you can see, this gives us a nice, easy connection point for our 5th wheel or gooseneck wiring harness. It comes with a spring-loaded door to help make sure that this stays covered and protected and that the elements aren't able to get in there and corrode your connections. This harness is going to T into the factory 7-pole wiring harness. Then you'll run the wire up to the back of this so that you can have power here as well. This wiring harness is going to do a great job of making sure that you've got that same 7-pole wiring up here as you do on the back bumper. more

This is what is looks like once installed. When you are ready to use it, you're going to take it out of your compartment here and lay it across the top of our weather stripping, making sure to stay away from the center where our latch is, so we don't pinch our wires and drop our cover down over top of that. That's going to help that hold in place and we'll just close our hatch. We can hitch it up to our trailer when we are done with it, put our cover on and open our hatch back up and we'll just curl up our wire. You can actually use the top, the cap as a wrap to hold it up. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Chevrolet Equinox

Today in our 2012 Chevrolet Equinox we'll be installing the CURT T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness for factory tow package, part number C56210. Now when we want to hook up to our trailer, all we have to do is lift up on our spare tire cover here, grab our wiring, set it down to the side of our trunk latch here, close our trunk on up. Now we have an easily accessible wiring harness that is stored out of the elements so we can hook it to our trailer. Take our dust cap off, hook our trailer up, plug our wiring in, we're ready to hit the road. Now when we've arrived at our destination and we unhook from our trailer, all we have to do is store the dust cap back over the plug, open our hatch back up, raise our spare tire cover, lay the wiring down inside, and it's stored up and out of the way and we don't have to worry about it getting snagged in any of our cargo when we're loading our hatch on up. It won't cause any damage to the wiring that way either and it's stored up out of the elements. Here's what our wiring kit comes with. We have our wiring harness. It'll plug into the factory tow package wiring right here and then give us a 4-pole flat to hook up to our trailer so we have all the DOT required lighting signals on our trailer, such as turn signals, brakes, and tail lights. more

Our wiring is in a readily accessible spot right now to hook up to our trailer. We'll take our dust cover off, plug in our trailer wiring and we're good to go. Now when we get to our destination and we've unhooked our trailer, all we have to do is replace our dust cover here, open our hatch back up, tuck our wiring inside the jack compartment, put our jack cover door back in place and it's like our wiring is not even there. It's tucked up out of the way. We don't have to worry about any of our cargo damaging the connector or snagging up on the wires and ripping the wiring out. more

Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Demco 5th Wheel Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness with seven pole plug, part number DM8555002. This is what this wiring kit is going to look like once it's installed on a vehicle. What's nice about this one, is that is has 10 feet of wire which makes it easier to choose your location and put it wherever you want. Whereas some of the other 5th wheel wiring kits, they don't come with that much wire. Got seven way connector here, and it's got the spring loaded lid in order to make sure that it stays covered when not in use. That's going to help keep water and moisture out there so that it doesn't corrode your connectors. This wiring kit is going to do a great job of providing seven way power here in the bed of the truck. That way when hauling a gooseneck or 5th wheel trailer, you're not going to have to drape the wiring coming off the trailer over the tailgate down to the factory seven way, but you can just plug it in here instead. Now, let's show you how to install it. more
