Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Cruze, we're going to be installing Curt's T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness, part number C56354. This vehicle wiring harness is going to live inside the vehicle. When you need it, it's behind your driver's side panel, you can just pull it out, drape it over the back, hook it up to your trailer, making sure that you avoid your rear hatch latch when you close it and you close your latch. It'll pinch the harness between the weather stripping. This won't cause any damage but it'll hold it securely in place.This harness is going to provide you with all the necessary lighting, this includes your left turn signal, right turn signal, tail lamps, and brake lamps. It's going to be DOT compliant in all states. more

Trailer Connector Socket Installation - 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins 7 and 4 pole trailer connector socket with mounting bracket, part number HM40975.So here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is going to give us a seven way RV style connector, so we're going to have all of our lighting functions, 12 volt power, and our trailer brake controller ready for us. And at the same time it is going to give us a 4 pole flat trailer connector, which is going to give us all of our lighting functions, if our trailer doesn't have brakes.Now this is going to be a direct replacement for the factory plug that comes in the bumper. If your Silverado doesn't have that plug, or if you don't want to mount it there, our kit is going to come with a bracket so we can mount it somewhere else like the bottom of our hitch or the bottom of our bumper. And on the outside, it is going to have a legend letting us know which pin is going to do what, which is going to make testing our lights and all the functions really easy. And you just figure out which pin we need to check and it's also going to be on the 4 pole as well.Our connector's going to have a spring loaded cover so it's going to automatically close when we disconnect. more

It's also gonna have a nice dust cap that's gonna help protect our connections from any dirt, debris, and moisture.This wiring harness is gonna plug directly into your factory tail light wiring and into your factor tail lights. The good thing about it is it's gonna have a power wire that runs up to your battery. The good thing about that is, it's not gonna draw any power from your tail lights themselves, it's gonna draw all the power from the battery, so you're not gonna get that dimming effect if you have lights that are drawing a little bit more power, or you have a few extra lights on your trailer.The first thing we need to do to start our installation, is we need to get into the hatch. more

I do want to mention that the bracket is not included in the kit, but you can pick some up on our website. Our wiring is going to provide us with a 4-Pole flat trailer connector. It's going to give us all the required lights to get down the road safely and within the law. So we can give us our tail lights, brake lights, and our turn signals.We chose to mount our wiring with this bracket, because the wiring is going to stay on the outside of the vehicle at all times, so we'll be right next to our receiver tube whenever we get ready to hook up to our trailer. Now this is a custom-designed wiring kit, so it is going to be specific for our Traverse and it is just going to plug into a factory port, which is going to be right in this general area behind the bumper.Our wiring is even going to include this nice dust cover, which is going to keep some of the moisture and the debris out, from getting inside of the connector. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Chevrolet Colorado, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins 7-pole and 4-pole trailer connector sockets and wiring, part number HM40975-11998.Here's what a wiring harness looks like installed. Now the reason you're going to want this wiring harness over other options is because this gives us a 7-way here, which gives us the ability to tow a trailer with electric brakes, provided you have brake controller installed in your vehicle and it also gives us a 4-pole flat. So if we're towing just a small trailer and only need lighting functions, this will be a great way for us to be able to tow both trailers without needing any adapters. The most common connectors you see on trailers are either a 7-pole, like the hard top one, or a 4-pole, like our bottom.Another great feature about this, is that this gives us a very factory-like appearance on our Colorado. Matter of fact, this exact piece right here is actually used by several manufacturers during the manufacturing process on the vehicle.Our doors are spring-loaded and as you see, we have a nice rubber seal around them to help keep elements out of the inside of our connector, which could cause corrosion over time. This will make sure we have a nice solid electrical connection with any of our trailers so we don't have to worry about short circuits or poor performance from brakes or lighting.And now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed.To begin our install, we went head and removed our spare tire. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, we're gonna take a look at and show you how to install the Ticoncha T-1 Vehicle Wiring Harness with the full flat trailer connector, part number is 118556. This T-connector vehicle wiring harness is gonna be the solution to get a forward pull flat trailer connector on the back of your Camaro. Now we received the signals for the trailer from a module box. This box is designed with stand alone power and stand alone ground so it's gonna generate the power we need to power our trailer from the box. That, in essence, is gonna mean we're not drawing any power through the lighting system of the Camaro so we're not going to be overloading any of those circuits. Now we use our T-connectors, this is where the T-connector name comes in to plug in right between our tail light and our factory wiring, that sends a signal through the wire and it tells the box when to turn on the lights on the trailer and which ones to turn on.An added benefit you'll have to the module is that you don't have to worry about any kind of back feed. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2011 Chevrolet Traverse we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with a Four Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number 118450.Here what our wiring looks like installed. Now, the reason you're going to want a four pole flat wiring on your vehicle is if you're going to tow a trailer, the four pole flat wiring will give you the basic lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer. This green wire here provides your right turn signal and right brake light, yellow wire provides your left turn signal and left brake light. The brown wire is your taillight and running light signal, and the white wire provides the necessary ground connection between your trailer and your traverse.Now, on these three circuits we have a total power output of 7-1/2 amps maximum per circuit, which is more than sufficient to tow a trailer with several incandescent light bulbs per side on it. If you're running LEDs, you don't have to worry about those at all. Basically, run as many as you want because LEDs do draw significantly less power than incandescent light bulbs. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe we're going to be taking a look at showing you how to install the Hopkins 7 and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket with Mounting Bracket, part number HM40975. This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. Not only is this going to provide us with all the necessary functions for lighting our trailer, like both turns signals, your running lights, your brake lights, your ground and your power, it's also going to give you the option for reverse lights and for trailer brakes if you have them.One thing I like about this is the spring loaded caps, and on the inside of each cap, it's going to have a rubber seal. That's going to seal around the edge of your connections. It's going to help keep moisture out. Another great thing that I like about this plug is that if you look on the front of the cap, it's going to tell you what each signal is, and where it's running to inside the plug. more

Here's what our 7-way connector looks like installed. This is a no splice quick install, which allows us to have a quick and easy way to access our 7-way connector when we're towing a 5th wheel or a gooseneck trailer. That way we don't have to worry about having the cable from our trailer reach over our tailgate and go to our factory connector on our bumper. In a lot of applications, a 5th wheel or a gooseneck trailer connector isn't long enough to reach down there anyway. This will solve the problem for that, and make it a one step process when you're coupling to your trailer. more

Curt 5th Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2016 Chevrolet 2500- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we'll be having a look at and installing the Curt fifth wheel gooseneck custom wiring harness with seven pull connector, part number C56000.Fits nice and flush against the side of our bed of our vehicle. It doesn't take up much valuable bed space at all. We have a door, which is spring loaded, has a nice foam rubber gasket on it to help protect it, the connector, keep the elements out of it when it's not in use. It opens fairly wide, making it easy for us to insert our connector. This is an idea solution if we have a gooseneck or a fifth wheel trailer, that way we don't have to have a cable draping down over our tailgate to connect to our factory connector. Most of the time those connectors aren't even long enough on the trailer themselves to reach down to your factory connectors so you need a solution like this.We don't have to worry about climbing up into our truck bed to plug in this connector where we have it mounted. more

That eliminates the need for any adapters or anything. Your 7-round and 4-flat are two of the most common trailer connectors out there, typically this is going to be your smaller utility trailers. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're gonna take a look at and also show you how to install the Hopkins Seven and Four Pole Trailer Connector Socket, part number is HM40975.Now the replacement plug is gonna give us the option of using a seven pole round or a four pole flat, so that's gonna cover a majority of the trailers out there. These are your two most common connections. See each of our covers has a rubber gasket located all the way around. It's designed to press up against that raised edge. That's gonna give us a water-tight seal so dust, moisture, things like that, we're not gonna have to worry about it getting in. There's also a keeper tab right here so once your seven pole is in, it's gotta a tab that matches that and it'll prevent that from coming out.Our four pole has the same style protection inside of the cover. more

Our yellow wire is our left turn signal and left brake light, our green wire is our right turn signal and right brake light, just like the taillight and the running light wire we have seven and a half amps of power output on each of those wires.What's great about this wiring harness as opposed to other options on the market is that it utilizes our vehicle's factory tow package connector. There is no cutting, no splicing, you don't have to power a module by running a wire directly to your battery. more
