Here's what our 4-pole flat connector is going to look like once it's installed. Four-pole flat connector comes with a nice protective cap that covers the 4-pole flat connector when it's not in use. We'll take it, run it out over the threshold, staying away from the latch because pinching it off in the latch can damage the wire. However, the weather stripping it thick enough that it won't harm it, so we can simply close the rear hatch on it. Then our pole flat connector gets routed down to a hitch accessory. more

Once we get these six screws removed, we'll go ahead and test and figure out which wires do which functions here on the driver's side. With using our test light, we found that the outside wire on this case, or the one that has two wires coming out of the same port, is the running lights. The center wire, on the connector that has three wires on it, is our brake and turn signal. The other wire goes down to the reverse light. To get our wires pulled up to here, though, we'll go ahead and start by putting our four-flat at the center of the trailer hitch and then we'll peel back the green wire, as that will be running over to the passenger side, as well as peel back the white wire which we'll need to ground underneath the vehicle using a ring terminal and a self-tapping screw. Now we'll need to look down in behind the light, and we'll need to figure out exactly where we're going to drill our hole from underneath the vehicle. We're going to go ahead and use some rubber grommets to help protect the wire where it goes through the metal part of the vehicle after we drill the hole. Now that we've got our hole drilled, we can go ahead and push the yellow and the brown wire up into the vehicle, so that it comes out behind where the light assembly is. more

Hopkins Endurance Fifth Wheel Wiring Harness Installation - 2011 Dodge Ram Pickup

All right, today on this 2011 Dodge Ram pickup, 3500 series crew cab, we're going to install part number 41157. This is a Hopkins Endurancefifth wheel wiring harness, with a seven pole connector. OK, to start off our install, we need to find a location for our socket that we're going to install in the bed. Once we have that planned out, we'll go ahead and drill a quarter inch pilot hole Then we'll go back at it with a two inch hole saw OK, once we have our hole made, we'll go ahead and take our wire harness and run it through the hole. Well take the one end with the two connectors and go ahead and push it through the hole, and then let it fall out the bottom, then push the rest of our slack in place. OK, and then we'll save the other end to install into our seven pole connector We'll put some of the supply unintelligible 00:00:49 grease onto the terminals on the inside edge, then snap the two halves together. OK, once we have them together, we can go ahead and put the seven pole connector into the hole. And then we'll go ahead and use the provided hardware to attach it to the bed. Now the hardware is four self-tapping screws and washers. We'll position our seven pole connector, and then install our screws one at a time. We leave them loose until we have them all installed, and then we'll go ahead and tighten them down for good. All right, now go underneath the bed of the truck, and we'll go ahead and route our wire harness towards the bumper and towards the back side of the bumper where pre-existing seven pole connector is. Now we need to go ahead and disconnect the seven pole from the wire harness. We'll push down there's a small tab that we need topush down, and then we can go ahead and separate the connector from the wires. We'll let that go for now, and then we'll go ahead and take our new Hopkins wire harness and we'll get it ready to plug in the two halves. We'll go ahead and add the remainder of the unintelligible00:01:41grease on the terminals, and then just plug the two matching ends together. Again , we want to make sure everything remains snapped, so we know we're secure.
