Hey, everybody, welcome to etrailer.com. I'm Bobby and today we're taking a look at the Swagman Tailwhip Tailgate Pad on our 2017 Ram 1500. Now, this going to be a great way of just getting a couple of bikes to that destination, wherever you might be going. Now, we can go ahead and fit up to five bikes on here. We've gone ahead and thrown in our 48-inch wheelbase with 29-inch rims to give you guys a good representation of the kind of bikes you're definitely gonna be able to take with this tailgate pad. What's nice about it, we're not going to have to add anything else to the bed of our truck, right We don't have a carrier. more

Thule Gate Mate Tailgate Pad and Bike Rack Review - 2017 Ram 1500- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 1500, we're going to be test fitting the Thule gate mate tailgate pad, part number TH824. Now if you don't want to have a bike rack on the back of your hitch, or one on the back of your bed where your bike's going to take up most of your bed, a nice economical solution is this pad here. This allows your bike do drape right over the back.With your pad in place you can see here that the bike's going to easily sit right over your tailgate, freeing up some space, and it's going to protect from any scratches or abrasions on your vehicle. It's 62 inches across, which will allow you to easily mount two bikes, and keep them from contacting each other. There's nylon straps located on top that you can use for tie down points to secure your bike even sturdier.It not only works with bikes, but it'll work with other accessories such as kayaks, paddle boards, surf boards. It protects those from your tailgate, and it protects your tailgate from them. more
