Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevrolet Uplander - Hidden Hitch

Today on our 2006 Chevy Uplander we'll be installing the hidden hitch, part number 90148. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and locate the manufacturer's weld nuts that we'll also use as attachment points to secure a hitch. Starting on the driver's side, we'll use the two weld nuts that are exposed here in the frame rail. Our rear attachment point for the driver's side. We'll ultimately use the hitch as a template and drill out for the attachment point. Moving over to the passenger's side, we'll have a support bracket that will run from the frame to the inner fender well. more

Today in our 2006 Chevy Uplander, we'll be installing the Draw-Tite hitch, Part Number 36361. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and locate the manufacturer's well nuts that we'll also use as attachment points to secure our hitch. Starting on the driver's side, we'll use the two well nuts that are exposed here in the frame rail. For our rear attachment point for the driver's side, we'll ultimately use the hitch as a template and drill out for the attachment point. Moving over to the passenger's side, we'll have a support bracket that'll run from the frame to the inner fender well. We'll use as a forward attachment point two exhaust hanger attachment points. The rear attachment point will be just like the driver's side where we'll drill out a hole in the frame for the attachment point. Let's go ahead and remove the exhaust bracket and support bracket first. We'll go ahead and remove the fasteners and set them aside as they will not be reinstalled. We'll use the new hardware supplied with the install kit. Then we'll go ahead and remove the bolt that secures the support bracket to the frame. more

Today on this 2006 Chevrolet Uplander we are going to install part number 87410 from Hidden Hitch. This installation also applies to part number 75278 from Draw-Tite. Looking at the drivers side frame rail, you can see there are two existing holes right here, and there will be a third hole drilled right here. On the passenger side we are going to use these two existing bolt holes. The new hardware that comes with the hitch will replace these, and the exhaust bracket will get installed on the top of the hitch. It is also going to be the same story with the body support bracket too. :32 more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevrolet Uplander 13344- Video

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2006 Chevrolet Uplander 13344

Today we are going to install part number 13344 on our Chevrolet Uplander. All right, the first thing we need to do is go ahead and lower the exhaust and temporarily remove this body bracket here. At this point we can go ahead and hang the hitch on the vehicle and snug it down to the frame because we have to use the hitch as a template to drill the rest of the holes in the frame. All right, with the hitch in place we will go ahead and drill a pilot hole, and the other holes we have to drill out in the frame will be right here. We will do one on each side toward the rear of the vehicle. And on some models you do not have to drill out back here, but on this model we actually have a hole that lines up with the body mount - no, the body bracket - so we will just go ahead and use that one. The next thing we do is install a handle nut that goes into the side of the frame here. We will bring it to the direction we need to match it to the hole right here. And repeat for the other side. more
